Not fashion, but...

Just a quick question;
Is it acceptable to take a friend to a wedding as a guest???
The invitation was to me and Mr SP, but it's my boss' wedding and Mr SP can't make it now. It's only for the evening do and i don't really fancy going on my own as most others will be with partners - plus I have to drive their and i'm useless with directions so have the feeling i'll end up in the middle of nowhere if i try to find it alone!!
What do you think?? Is this not the done thing??
I was going to ask my boss if he minded me bringing a friend instead, and i'm sure he'll say yes, but i just wanted to get your opinions forst incase it's really out of order!
Thanks

Re: Not fashion, but...
I think it depends on the type of wedding, to be honest - I can imagine that if it were a small cosy affair with everyone carefully hand-picked, bringing someone completely unknown along might be a bit off - I'd certainly object if it were me, but then I am an intolerant bad-tempered control-freak! If it's a big one though, then it might be OK. I have no idea about wedding etiquette though, so I'm probably all wrong!

Answer:
Over here people tend to have big weddings and an evening invitation usually would state 'and partner' for those attached or 'and guest' for those who are not. This can be of whatever sex you like, and whoever you like. There are also other people asked who don't get a written invitation and told to bring their friends as well. That would be pretty common practice so definitely not bad form in Ireland. It would be bad form for the daytime mind you. Might be different different places though.
Answer:
I'd say it's very bad form, sorry.
At my wedding we invited an old friend of my husband's plus his girlfriend, at the last minute she couldn't come so he turned up with a random friend instead, we were fairly annoyed about it afterwards - although on the day itself we were too busy to bother about it too much!
I wouldn't even ask. But then again I suppose it does depend very much on the event, if there are going to be like 700 people it might be different.
Answer:
i agree with g_k - it might be a big deal to the bride groom who may have as g_k said, planned the whole guest list very scrupulously. can you ask or do you feel it would put them on the spot?

..but I am looking for a replica of a Chanel Reissue in White/Ivory/Cream in either normal leather or patent, and it doesn't matter what size. Has anyone come across this on their travels? Or know of any reputable (a bit of an oxymoron, non?!) sellers whom I could ask/check out? Mitchey - the site where you got your Birkin only have it in black, which also is a bit :heyhey: . Boooooooooooooooooooooooo
    Thanks my lovelies

    Answer:
I can never get on to that website Leelee  It always says not available. Have you had any problems?
Sorry, I haven't seen a Reissue that you're after in my travels :(
    Answer:
Thanks Toosh - its really odd bc at home I can't get onto it - yet I can at work! I emailed them about it; they said it had something to do with my server.
    Answer:
Does anyone know the measurement of the different sizes of reissue?

I don't know what possessed me! I haven't bought a bra in MS for years, but today I did. I tried the bra on in their fitting room and I had one of their 'trained fitters' hovering outside the curtain asking how I was getting on and was I sure I didn't want a fitting. I didn't really see the point in having a fitting in MS as they are notorious for putting you in the wrong size.
After that I decided to buy the bra. I was horrified to discover that they still shout out your bra size at the till! I thought they had stopped all that. It was worse than being an embarrassed teenager again. In fact it was worse than being on a shriek-your-weight machine :o
Why do they do this? I can see the point in them checking you are buying two shoes of the same size, but they don't yell out your size if you are buying other clothing, so why do it with bras? Is there some really obvious reason that I am too simple to see?
    Answer:
I don't have this problem because MS don't do my size in any of their bras with the possible exception of the "over the shoulder boulder holder" styles for the older, visually impaired and unattached woman.
    I'm a 34DD/E and haven't bought a bra in MS since they told me I was a 38D.
    Answer:
Hi Tsunami. Some of their MW range is nice. I'm a 34E and some of the bras in that range are quite pretty without being granny and lace.
    Answer:
MW? I don't think I've seen that one. Mind you, I tend to avoid the undies section these days. Will have to take a look.
    Thanks

    Yup, that's what I bought.
I have seen the MW range, and it looked quite nice, but I was scared to investigate further as I assumed the MW stood for "midwife".

I have leather ones (orange-brown) and i've been clubbing in them. I dont want to try cleaning them with anything til i get advice.
They have some black stains on them, so what and how can i clean them with?
    Answer:
Baby wipes or comfort on a soft duster :) No really - this is how we clean our leather suite, bags, shoes...
    Answer:
Once you get them cleaned up and the black marks off them, invest in a good-quality protector spray, which will help stop them getting marked in the future.
I got a multi-purpose one (for suede and leather) from the shoemender's for about a fiver.

    greetings all!
I just want to stick up for cowboy boots!
I bought my first pair (which last forever if you get a good pair) in 1993 for £180 and although i perhaps have worn them more recently, i would wear them anyway, fashionable or not!
They are very practical and comfy, and fit like a second skin.
So stop saying that they have fallen 'out of fashion'-i will carry on wearing mine forever!!!
    (rant over)
    :yay:
    Answer:
I'm not all that big on cowboy boots but I don't disagree with what you're saying... I feel exactly the same way with Ponchos, ugg boots and fur gilets! I like them and will continue to wear them for years to come.
    Answer:
I'm with you! although dont have a pair yet..
I think the point is, is if it looks like something that is plasticy-fake-bought-from-wembley-market-or-the-like for 50pence then thats when it becomes too 'trendy' and 'tat'! (i'm sure someone will explain this point a lot better at me, i'm far better suited to verbal lol)
I'm in the market for cowboy boots - i really like them, the fact that theyre 'in' or 'out' is immaterial to me, tbh. as soon as i spot the right pair on ebay (i.e. not bought from barratts/shoe express/new look for 25 quid) i will snap them up, and, be wearing them for the rest of my days..well, maybe not whilst pushing my zimmer :)
