Newcastle

NO.1. Ask :
Newcastle
Hi all, am taking a trip up to Newcastle next weekend to stay with family. Am being left all alone one day (sob sob) so I figured I may as well hit the shops! :yay:
Just wondering what's good in the town centre? I hear there's a 2 floor Primark, shall be checking that out. How about other high street shops, and also smaller ones worth checking out?
Thanks! BB x
Answer:
sisters in eldon garden is fab, cruise in princess square, leaf is also nice, they're all high end though.
theres a huge tkmaxx in monument mall which is also good and of course fenwicks (fabby shoes, makeup, clothes etc)
newcastle has so many nice shops, it just depends what you're looking for, they are all quite near each other though so you never have to go out of your way.
are you going to the metro centre too?
Answer:
Newcastle is fantastic for shopping, especially for the high street stuff. Most things are quite close together and there are 3 main mallls in the centre, Eldon Gardens, Eldon Square and Monument Mall.
Outside these you also have Primark, Warehouse, French connection, jigsaw, Oasis, Karen Millen and loads of the other usual favorites, as well as the high line stuff that Twinkle already mentioned.
You can also get a train from Central Station to the Metrocentre, they run about every 20min, for all the usually high street stuff and a super huge Marks Spencers, House of Frazer, Debenhams and Ikea.
Answer:
Eldon square has a site with a store directory on if that helps:

    hello from HK
As you may have gathered from my previous posts, Hong Kong is proving to be something of a desert as far as High St clothes go. Great if you're into Gucci daywear 24/7 but not so great if you've been weaned (sp) on Topshop and Warehouse!
So, I'm going to be the mail order queen. Now all I have to do is get boyfriend's mum to post stuff on to me!
Anyway, the point of my post is to say that EVERYTHING on the TS website is out of stock. Is anyone else going through the same thing?
    Love Valentine (31yrs minus 6 days!!!:yay: )
    Answer:
Do you in live in HK or there on holiday?
The TS website is very badly stocked! It's a miracle if what I want happens to be in stock.
    Answer:
I never buy anything off topshop online! The range is much better in store although I can see how that is a bit of a problem for you at the moment. They also take stuff off the website even though it;s still available in store - gives the impression things have sold out if it's there one day and not the next.
I must admit the high street chain store (topshop, oasis, warehouse, RI, Miss Selfridge) situation isn't brilliant in Hong Kong... pretty much limited to Giordano, Esprit, U2, G2000 baleno.
Have you tried the following places:
    Causeway bag - good shops
    Mong Kok - excellent shopping
Stanley - excellent of nick nacks and outlet shopping
Granville Road (TST) - clothes outlet shopping
There are also these shops called in fashion or in out which do dirt cheap clothes... a bit like primark but female clothes only and alot smaller. I always buy some great stuff there.
Look out for Milan/Paris/France station shops - they sell second hand heres and leather goods, all the top names and excellent condition. All with proven authenticity, receipts, dustbags, etc otherwise they won't buy them themselves - kind of like a here agency. I bought a nearly new fendi here from there for about £90... fendi isn't really that popular in HK anymore so that was why... Gucci prada are a little more but second hand LV is most popular but is cheaper than retail.
We must talk some more about my pending visit... will PM you properly!

We moved to HK to live about three weeks ago. I've stopped feeling that I'm on holiday now and getting down to some serious job-hunting:)

    NO.4. ask :
    Mulberry purse - which one??
    Hello
I have still yet to spend my Christmas money from my parents, and have decided that I would like to purchase a classic Mulberry purse as I have always wanted one.
I like two of their purses (I don't seem to be able to do a direct link) -
But the first purse I like is the congo purse in black - product code (PRODUCT CODE RL8003) http://www.valentinesleather.co.uk/mulberry.htm - £99.00
And the second purse which is directly below the first purse is the scotchgrain wallet in black (PRODUCT CODE RL0585)
I like them both but I am so indecisive (typical Libra! ) so I expect I will be in Selfridges all day and then walk home with nothing! So if you could help me make a decision I would be very happy as I trust your opinions!
    Many thanks for your help!!
    Rumplex:)
    Answer:
Go for the black congo, it will look good for years. I've just replace the black congo wallet with a red one (to match my heart shaped coin purse). The black one was nicked but was looking vitually unworn after at least eight years of daily use.
    Answer:
Thanks Pansymouse! :) I think I may take your advice!
    Answer:
Definitely the first one - black leather congo croc one, what ever it is... sorry just don't like scotchgrain at all... looks really old fashioned.
    Answer:
Thanks Yingers! You are right, I do like classic things but I don't want to look like a granny!
    Thanks for your honesty!

  • What shoes with maxi skirts?

    NO.5. ask :
    What shoes with maxi skirts?
    I'm so confused.
I've bought loads of maxi skirts but no shoes I wear seem to go with them.
    Any advice?
Seriously want to wear my skirts but nothing looks right..
Can't wear open toes I look like a plonker (in this weather) and it's too cold...
    Answer:
    boots? flat ones?
And where did you get your maxi skirts? How tall are you? And how long are they on you? I want one too:D
    Answer:
I tend to wear either flat pointy toed shoes or boots. To balance the look I think you need something quite delicate. With my summery ones I wear flip flops.
Yes and DO tell where you got these skirts from - I've been looking for some too :D
    Answer:
Found them in Primark in Derby
    Gorgeous fit and really cheap.
I have seen a really nice black one in MS (As a staple item in my wardrobe) didn't get a chance to try it on but it was a little expensive at £35 - I'm a little short on cash which is why I can't really buy the knee high pointy boots which might go specifically with the skirt
I'm 5"5 and the skirt fits low on the waist and is a size 10 - I'm in the middle of 10 and 12 right now.
I have big feet (size 61/2 - 7) but not sure if flat shoes would look nice as I do have some really nice indian slippers/khussas to wear...
    Answer:
what's a maxi skirt ? apologies if I'm missing something really obvious - is it the opposit of a mini skirt and so basically just a really, long (i.e. ankle-length) skirt ?
(elliecat runs off to hide in case she ends up feeling really stooooopid)
