hmm fashion confused
hello there
My first post in fashion, but don't you get days when you just don't like whats out there (am I a freak  ) I should make myself clear there are so many looks out there, I try to go for the continetal look (if there is such a one!)..chic, relaxed with a hint of feminity
Well I'm early 30 thirties and do like fashion, working in a university and surrounded by young fashion student type can't but help you have a good look at yourself. I was out a town in lunch and window shopped, I go to per una, look at somethng and then a lady 50+ is eyeing it too so I walk away, I then went into Dorothy Perkins surrounded with a mixture of ladies, looked at a couple of things, and I just felt like a sheep, all going for the same thing, I stumbled into Wallis again much older ladies were trying in stuff I thought would be ok for me...I hope I'm not sounding ageist (probably am:o ) but what on earth should I be looking at to wear"" It must be the shops I'm going to, and my lack of sense of fashion, I don't seem to be doing to bad, I look quite young for my age:rolleyes: )
Sorry if this is post has to meaning whatsoever, just had to vent but do you guys get days like that?:meh:
Answer:

Answer:
Hi fairy
I'm on the short side 5'1 and a bottle shape (if that makes sense), I'm not fussed about colours, but tend to be autumnal at work, usual grey, black trousers and brown, blue, green tops. Recently I bought sone summer tops, a coral one and a striped shirt, which looked good. At work, its smart casual, literally anything you want. I'm the kind of person who likes to follow fashoin in the subtle sense rather than the full look, I just don't feel right going for the full thing!!! strange I know!
Answer:
you are right kenicke, it must be how you wear it! I guess I need to change my approach and attitude;)

    What would you do?
Ordered these on Monday with two other pairs of shoes in the three for two sale and they arrived yesterday :faint: Now my original intention was to ebay them as I already have these, but I really like the new ones and think they're different enough to keep  The only problem is they've sent me a pair that clearly aren't a proper pair, I know this style have been in Office for ages, and they've sent me one with a black insole and one with a grey insole! I kind of wanted to wear them tomorrow night, but don't know whether to see if I can exchange them, there are still 5s available on the website.
What would you do? Obviously you can't tell when I'm wearing them but I know they don't match properly!!
    Answer:
    Anyone?
Think I'm going to ring/email them, does anyone know which way will get me the quickest response??!
    Answer:
You will be able to exchange them, definitely. Give them a ring, that'll be the wuickest way to get a response.
If you want to wear them tomorrow though and they don't have any in your nearest store, then I would probably just put up with it. As you say, you can't tell when you are wearing them.
    Answer:
Thanks Lizzie. I've just spoken to someone at Office and they said I can post them back to them but they can't guarantee they'll have another pair to send out to me, so I'll probably just keep them and live with it!
    Answer:
So helpful Office, aren't they
Sounds like the right decision. They are great shoes!

    Wedding Emergency
    Hello stylish girlies!
I am a first time 'poster' type person but I really need help!:(
I have just received to a good freinds wedding for April 9th and I have no idea what to wear. When I am browsing this forum you all sound soooo cool and stylish and I wondered if you could help me out! The time of year does ot really help as its not winter or summer so am stuck!!!!
Its an all day wedding, service at 1145, back to hotel for wedding breakfast and then night time do as well. We are staying in the hotel so I have a room to change in for night time, if you think I should!
    Right, vitals - i am a size 16, 5ft 7, 38dd ( its a curse not a blessing).
I am not overly girly and tend to lean towards (hopefully anyway) rock chickiness! I can do girly if the situation calls for it! I just want to look cool and up to date!
Thing is I usually have some idea but I am really stuck.
Any help would be hugely appreciated, I have never posted before and am sorry to ramble on but you all seem to have such cool ideas!
I originally thought cool suit and trilby for day and then change suit trousers for jeans and cool boots for night time but cannot find a good suit anywhere!
    Thanks for any help!!!!:)
    Answer:
    Hi Sally
Welcome to HB! I'm not too great on recommending a good suit as the ones I wear are only to work in the summer and they tend to come from Next so they're fairly uninspiring.
However, I would say that jeans for the evening do would be a complete no-no. I'm getting married in August and I would not be impressed if someone turned up in jeans! and I'm not particularly fussy about things like that.
If you really want to wear trousers, why don't you have a look in the ol' wedding favourite, Coast or try Whistles or Zara? :)
    Answer:
    Thanks for welcome!
Your right about the jeans, after I had posted I thought that too!
Thanks for suggestions! Have also decided against a suit now I think, as I said am totally useless and have no ideas!
    Thanks for replying!;)
    Answer:
    Hi Sally!
I agree with Toosh about the jeans. I've never seen anyone wearing jeans at a wedding reception before but you could always ask what the dress code is likely to be for the evening which is normally in keeping with the venue so if its a hotel, country house or similar its best to steer clear of jeans. If you feel most comfortable in a trouser suit then that's probably the best option for the service, altough a dress doesn't have to be girly, maybe try on some different styles - wrap dresses are classic and would look nice with a smart blazer over the top. What colours do you suit? :)
    Answer:
Sorry - that sounded a bit bossy didn't it! I didn't mean it to!
As Jerrica said, why don't you think about a wrap dress - may be follow Trinny and Suze's lead and wear it over smart trousers. I love that look and with killer heels it can look really elegant and classy. If not, how about long boots with a long sleeved dress so you don't get chilly??? and then maybe something more evening-y for the evening do??

    Answer:
Oh god I love that - WHY DID YOU SHOW IT TO ME  :boohoo:
    Answer:
Honestly? I think it looks like something Kelly Osbourne would wear.
    Answer:
Well my first reaction was no, it's not my sort of thing. Don't like chunky beads and don't like plastic ...
but then I remembered that I once bought a vaguely similar necklace that was just big chunks of clear stuff spaced out on a tiny wire and I used to wear it on hot days because everyone said it looked just like ice cubes!
    Answer:
Thanks for your honest opinions guys - i know i can trust here for that!
Anyway, the reason i asked is that i bought one in a sale and as they were quite a good price was trying to work out whether to buy more to give as birthday pressies etc. Maybe i won't....
Having said that, in 'real life' the necklaces are a lot more sparkly and dressy than the website would suggest....but then i sometimes quite like what kelly osbourne wears! ;)
