Shopping in London and Afternoon tea/drinks?
Hi there..
I'm planning a little shopping trip to London with my five best friends.. followed by afternoon tea and then some drinks. We all want to get dressed up as 'ladies' for once, treat ourselves and I'm wondering where to go.
I'm sure that this has been done a hundred times before, but any suggestions?
I'm sure there are some 'gems' in London, I just don't know where they are!! Not sure where to shop, or have tea or a bar.. so starting from scratch!
Hoping you can help..

What about these suggestions?
Best places for afternoon tea in London - London Restaurants - Square Meal

Answer:
There's the infamous Pret-a-portea at The Berkeley, or you could take tea at any number of the established hotels in London: eg Claridge's, the Savoy or the Wolseley. There's also the St James's tearoom at Fortnum's, which has been going pretty much since tea first arrived in this country.
Answer:
Shipp's Tearooms at Borough Market is supposed to do an excellent afternoon tea.

Thanks so much for replying.. I will do some research on these ones and go from there. I looked at a few London hotels.. £33 for tea and cakes!! You have to laugh, but its a spacial day out, so there we go.

Suede here cleaning?

Suede here cleaning?
I got a lovely tan suede here from Coach for Christmas which is getting really grubby - I think the dye from my coat must be rubbing off on it so I can't 'wear' it at all until Spring (when I hopefully won't need winter coat).
Anyway the question is can you get suede heres professionally cleaned, do you think it will work?
Thanks

Anyone?
Answer:
I am having the same problem Retty.
Found someone who would clean it but they said because it has a hard base (cardboard?) - the solution might soak into that and cause stain marks around the base of the bag.
Anyone else got any tips??
Answer:
I had a suede here (*had* being the operative word!). I went to a specialist leather place and the old guy behind the counter looked at me as if I was mad, and told me I could buy cleaner from a shop. So then I took it to a dry cleaners, they couldn't get all the dye (I think from my jeans) out. A few months later I took it to another dry cleaners, and when I got it back from there it had loads of little holes in it. Unfortunately I didn't noice these until after I paid, and it took 5 months to get my money back, and they still have my bag!
So, all in all, be careful where you take it to! I now have a lovely leather bag, so the mourning period is over ;)
Edited to correct awful awful spelling
Answer:
The only place I can recommend is a dry cleaners. Check the local ones to find out which ones do specialist suede cleaning and take it there. If it's an expensive bag, also check out their insurance policies before you hand it over to them. If they don't get all the dye it on the first go, wait 2 weeks to let the solvent settle and take it back to the same cleaners. Different cleaners use different solvents, and being a scientist, I know what happens when you mix unknown substances!
(Usually resulting in something not unlike this  in the beaker, with a look of utter confusion and fear on my face!)
HTH.
Returns policy?
NO.4. ask :
Returns policy?
Was just about to buy some tan suede boots from Grattan when I checked then returns policy and noticed that it said this:
"What is Grattan's return or exchange policy?
Most goods come with a 14-day home approval policy. Thereafter we do not accept items for return or exchange unless the item is faulty. Certain goods are not supplied on the usual approval terms. These items are clearly shown on the site by the logo seen above, and can only be returned if they are not of satisfactory quality. Your statutory rights are not affected. However, if for any reason you are not satisfied with any item you buy from us, we will do our utmost to deal with your complaint to your complete satisfaction. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.
Does this mean I can only send them back if they are faulty and now if they don't fit?
And also, there is a banner on the site saying "£15 off wiwth your first order" - is this £15 off my first order? Or a £15 voucher to spend on a subsequent order?
Who would have thought online buying could be so complicated!?
Answer:
Distance selling regulations state that you can change your mind within 7 days of receiving an item, provided you return it in its original condition. There are exceptions, things like perishable goods (e.g. food) or things that cant be re-sold for hygiene reasons. These are your statutory rights. Anything over and above this is down to the individual retailers goodwill!
Sounds like Grattan will give you 14 days to return the item to them, provided its in its original condition.
Just studied this at uni - hope this helps!
