Office shoes rant!!
I know other people have had trouble with Office in the past, but I've had a few pairs of shoes from there and not had any problems before...
Bought these on Monday (nicer than they look in the photo.) Had the Elle 35% off voucher so they were just under £30. Anyway, couldn't decide between size 5 or 6 and ended up buying the 5s cos I was in a rush. Tried them on again when I got home, wandered around my flat for a bit in them and decided they were a bit small so went to take them back today to exchange for some 6s. Spoke to a fit bloke who works there, he said no problem and went off to get a pair of 6s. Then a girl came over, looked at them and said they couldn't exchange them as they weren't in a fit state to be resold, and that they should have only been tried on on carpet. I explained that I only have wooden/ laminate flooring in my flat but she was having none of it and kindly suggested where I could go to get them stretched
Sorry for rant but I'm sooo berluddy annoyed  and planning on staying away from Office for a while now- will have to just peek through window at fit bloke ;)
Answer:
What about trying another store?
No help, but I will only try my shoes indoor on carpet just to be safe.
Answer:
Thanks Yingers, the next nearest store is about 100 miles away unfortunately... I can wear the shoes but they're really not going to do my feet any favours, and I'm mostly annoyed that the bloke was happy to exchange them until the stroppy SA came along
Answer:
Well it looks like it was just her... perhaps try another day when she is nowhere to be seen.
Answer:
Yeah I'd go back another day aswell. Stupid cow, what's her problem?!
School skirts
NO.2. ask :
School skirts
Hi all,
As a mum of 3 girls 8, 12 and 14 yrs I've got fed up with the arguments about school fashions and recently decided to buy more traditional styled skirts this time.
My local schoolwear shop was selling kilt styled skirts in a sale recently and when buying for my 8yr old I bought the same style for the older two, however I'm getting nothing but complaints just lately.
I think plain grey and navy kilts look smart for school and they were a bargain so I'd like to stick with them but my eldest 2 regard them as junior skirts.
They can wear what they like outside school (within reason) so I dont think its unfair for me to choose the schoolwear, what do other mums think ?
Thanks
Cathryn.
Answer:
I think it's always a tough one, as your children start to become independant minded about what they wear.
I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to dictate what gets worn during school-time; but maybe a compromise can be reached? Wear those skirts and they can choose the top, or something along those lines?
Answer:
The whole point of uniforms is to avoid all this crap! I say, let them moan but stick to your guns. Uniforms are not a fashion parade anyway, most of them are hideous!!
I never got to choose anything within my uniform, my mum even made me wear 'sensible' shoes (which I hated and they were REALLY unfashionable at the time).
My daughter is too young to realise she can moan about her uniform yet (she's 7), but she is a total fashion victim when it comes to her other clothes (3 or 4 clothes changes a day and mostly everything in pink and purple, although she is expanding her horizans slightly as she gets older! :p )
Explain your reasons and stick to your guns, you're the boss. They can do what they like with their out of school clothes, but uniforms are uniforms!!
God I'm harsh. :p
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) Whoo, you are a bit
Answer:
I never really had any problems when I was at school with what my mum wanted me to wear, so I can't really comment.
Personally, I'd say stick to your guns on it, but if it does cause a lot of tension, why don't you specify requirements like colour, length and price, and then let them choose one that fits all the fields? That way you get them wearing a skirt that you believe is suitable, but you've tricked them into thinking they picked it. :D
Trousers like this

Trousers like this
I love this look:
Does anyone know where I can get trousers like this - a heavy weave, slightly high-waisted and wide (but not too wide) legged? I'm usually a size 8, sometimes 6. I'd much prefer to try them on in person as no clothes I've bought off the net have ever fitted correctly!
TIA!

Answer:
I got something quite similar recently in New Look but it was in the clearance sale section, so don't know if any in new stock.
Have u tried MS, they can carry a wide range of trousers sometimes
Answer:
I have ones very similar (in brown tweed) from Zara - they are about a 36 leg though.
HTH :)
Answer:
Yep I also have a brown/camel mix wool pair from Zara and a charcoal grey pair from there too very similar to the pair in the pic.
Got them both in the sales year before last but Zara always do those kinda trews.
Answer:
Like the others have said, Zara has ones similar.
French Connection also had a pair like that last year, they may have something similiar now.
Good luck

Answer:
Is it a Bolero!! Not sure of spelling but sounds like that????
Answer:
I thought boleros were just like sleeves that are attached by a thin bit of material at the back ?
Answer:
I'd call it a bolero.
Answer:
I'd call it a very nice Bolero!
Sadly it would look ridiculous on me, my chest is too big for open cardis. :(
Office promotional code
NO.5. ask :
Office promotional code
I also posted this to Karina's  thread, but thought my hijack was a bit cheeky so am creating a new thread!
Does anyone have any promotional codes for a purchase from Office? I've just spotted some luscious shoes which must be mine but I know there's an Elle discount around, and unfort I can only buy online so need a code! Can anyone help? I'll be eternally grateful...
Answer:
Please?! £54.99 is a tad much IMO, but a nice little discount would make all the difference...
Here are the shoesies:

Answer:
Not much help but I rang this morning to see if the Elle promo could be used online/mail order and they said no :(
Answer:
Dang it! What a pain! I have been looking for shoes just like that for ages but would feel so naughty buying at that price. Thanks for the reply Pansymouse, they are just destined not to be mine I guess!
