OT but have a bit of a dilemma and would appreciate some advice!
Hey girls :D Sorry for this totally O/T random (and long!) post, but I'd just like to know what you would do in the following situation.
As many of you know, I lived away from home in uni halls in Manchester in 2005, and absolutely hated it. I'm very much a home-bird, from a small town and very close to my family and boyfriend, and I became so miserable and depressed being away in a big city on my own - I just wanted to come home! I ended up leaving that uni and changing to a different one much closer to my hometown in 2006, and I've been living at home ever since, just commuting to uni each day.
Next year, I have got myself a place to live in halls at my new uni, living on campus with some people from my course. I paid the deposit and signed the contract back in January. HOWEVER I've just got an email saying the uni halls are oversubscribed and they're trying to free up some spaces. They're offering to release people from their contracts if they've changed their minds, and repay our deposits back in full. Something inside me is saying 'Do it! Email them back and tell them you want to be released from the contract!'.
I've always been unsure of whether I wanted to live there - I basically said yes because I was scared of missing out on something - but I was SO miserable living away the first time I tried it and I'm scared of getting stuck back into that again :( The cost is also putting me off - these particular halls are en-suite and over £4000 a year just for self catering  If I do end up changing my mind nearer the time, I'll be tied into the contract and have to pay the full cost for the year whether I like it or not. I've been in that situation before and had to pay £260 a month rent on a house in Manchester that I only lived in for 2 days - I don't want to be stuck in that situation again. I've made a list of pros and cons of releasing myself from the contract and living at home again, but I'm still confused as to what I should do, so I'd just like to know what you would do if you were me :)
CONS of living at home
:( Have to get up at stupid hours of the morning to travel into uni
:( It's a lot of travelling = about 3 hours of wasted time each day
:( Feel like I will miss out on things - a lot of people have said to me 'You're not getting the full uni experience living at home', and I'm scared that they're right - what if I look back in 3 years time and regret it?
:( It's my 3rd and final year next year, so in many ways it'd be a lot easier to be on campus near to the library etc, when I need to do some work.
:( Less independence, and more rows with my mum!
:( I feel like a total baby wanting to live at home :o
PROS of living at home
:) Much MUCH cheaper - it's £4,000 to live in these particular halls for a year  I'd planned to come home for about 4 nights a week anyway (as I only live an hour and a bit away, and I want to see Mr GJ) so it seems silly to spend £4,000 on what is basically a tiny room for 3 nights a week! I don't know how I'd be able to afford my travelling costs, rent, own food (as it's self catering) as well as all the other stuff I have to pay for.
:) Because of where I live and where my uni is, it's quite a common thing for people to live at home and commute to uni - I'm not on my own in wanting to do it. I've got several friends living at home that I get the train with to uni each day, so it's really sociable and fab to see more of them :D
:) Have been really happy living at home this year - I'm close to my family, boyfriend and friends that I have at home, and I've just generally really enjoyed it. When I think back to how miserable and homesick I was when living away last year, it makes me so scared and reluctant to do it all again.
Any thoughts appreciated, thankyou :thanks:
Answer:
Honey, if part of you is telling you not to live in halls next year then obviously something isn't right. You said that living in halls in your first year made you miserable, you've experience living in halls and if it didn't make you happy..
Plus £4,000 is a heck of lot of money to not stay there all the time.
However, you need to do what is right for you, you shouldn't feel like wanting to live at home makes you a baby! It may sound cheesy, but follow your heart! Your happiness is the priority!
Answer:
It sounds to me as if you're happy at home. The travelling sounds a bit of a pain but nothing's perfect. In Oz we've got a saying "If it ain't broke don't mend it".
Answer:
if your happy at home then dont change. Why change something for the sake of it, when you've already tried it and didnt like it? Most of my close friends on my course all commute from home and none of them feel like they are missing the "true" college experience.
and whos to say living away from home is the "true" experience?
Answer:
I wouldn't personally make such a big change in my final year. I did move home have way through my post grad degree for personal reasons as I feltI needed to be around family at such a stressful time but didn't need to attend lectures as frequently as an undergraduate course would require you to.
Stay at home, save the money and then treat yourself to a fabulous holiday once you've passed your degree :D
Girls Fashion Clothes Shops/Smaller Sizes
NO.2. ask :
Girls Fashion Clothes Shops/Smaller Sizes
I've just been paid for the first month of my new job after some seriously bleak months :D and desperately want some new clothes rather than 2nd hand stuff off ebay.
I know I shouldn't complain but I'm at the end of my tether trying to find shops that stock my size. I've been a size 8 for years but I swear clothes are getting bigger. Most of the tops I try on are quite baggy on me and even then whenever I see something I like I'll go to find my size and they haven't got it in. Shops like Next that have their petite section really only do work wear and I want to wear all the lovely things everyone else has! I ordered a gorgeous blue top into Oasis the other day but when I tried it on it won't even stay above my bust :(
I know Topshop sells size 6 clothes but I think it's a bit over priced and crappy quality. What fashion stores sell a wide range of 6 or 8's? Or I was even thinking about the shops I went to as a girl, there used to be Tammygirl and 915, do those kind of shops exist anymore? I haven't seen any about although I've hardly been clothes shopping in a year. At least I wouldn't have to pay tax on my clothes!
Answer:
Well most high street stores do sell sixes now, or do a petite range, you just need to have a good look or order online. Also, Primark do a kids range, as do New Look which tend to be on trend. Good luck! x
ETA: Tammy still does exist but is quite tacky. I like the jewellry there sometimes though :D
Answer:
I know they supposedly sell 6's but try finding one, there's hardly any, and it's really boring things like work trousers and shirts! Thanks for the New Look thing though I'll see if my local one has a girls section. :)
Answer:
Try the HM teen section. I didn't even know they did a teen section but I've seen one in the Brent Cross branch.
Answer:
tammy is now in BHS stores and they have ok stuff sometimes
I buy things from the 915 bit in new look quite often, and the h+m teen bit too :)
Miss selfridge petite section clothes can be ok, but tend to still be big on me or annoyingly tight in some places and baggy in others!

I nearlly fainted when I seen this photo that I have attached, it's stunning.
Found it on ASOS but they only have it in silver and black :cmdunno: I want the gold one! Do you think it was made just for her?
Answer:
picture missing!
Answer:
ooh its just appeared! Very pretty- its likely it was made for her thuogh, and ASOS are only allowed a 'similar' one?
Answer:
I bet her version costs a bit more than ASOS prices too
Answer:
It's a Ted Baker dress, £140 from Ted Baker and the same from ASOS.
Surely Ted Baker wouldnt of copied her design if its from someone else?

Hey, I posted one on my bikini thread yesterday which I think is gorgeous. The gold belt is also reversible to white if you don't like it.
It's out of stock on Figleaves at the moment but I managed to track it down as well if you like it :)
Answer:
it think it's lovely but the bottoms kind of show a little bit too much bottom for me :)
but you reminded me of fig leaves which i totally forgot about and love that place with a passion, so i'll have a look there :D
