Is monogram completely over?
I've got a couple of gucci bags and was thinking about getting another, I've been looking around for a while and I quite like this one:
http://www.gucci.com/uk/uk-english/u...947_FCEKG_9761
But just wanted to see general opinions on monogram and if it's a complete fashion crime these days. I still use my other bags and think they look alright but thought i would ask the question.
Answer:
I think monogram is a matter of personal taste. You will always see LV Gucci monogram since it's a very obvious status symbol, and easily identifiable to the general population as being a designer item. It has the downside of being faked so much that most people are going to assume it's a fake, unless you live down South Ken/Knightsbridge way. I see quite a lot of LV, Gucci and Chanel cambon bags in Tooting and I assume that 90% of them are fakes.
Personally monogram isn't my cup of tea (I prefer a bit of subtlety) but I think it will be around for a while yet.
Answer:
I agree with r_etro's comments, I think it is a matter of personal taste and if YOU like it go for it.
It's never been my cup of tea but having said that if the style of the bag is unusual or distinct and it's obviously been nicely crafted the monogram would probably look quite nice.
I've never gone for monogrammed things before but changed my mind the other day when I saw the Anya Hindmarch monogram (having never paid attention to her bags before), which was very subtle and cute.
Answer:
if YOU like it. YOU get it.
who give's a toss if everyone else is over it. its your bag
Answer:
I agree with the others - it has been faked to death but it will prevail. I still use my LV monogrammed bucket and I have my eye on a Speedy.
What to wear with my wide leg trousers?
NO.2. ask :
What to wear with my wide leg trousers?
Argh!!
Driving me loopy!
They're white, and taliored and they mock me, please help me.:(
What can i wear with them?
:)
Answer:
A long black or grey vest? Maybe tucked in with a long gold chain? Or perhaps a fitted shirt, tucked in 70s stylee?
Answer:
I mostly wear longer line, slim fitting tops like tees and finely knit jumpers over the trousers, with a low slung belt and some long beads/ necklace and high heels. No idea if that is fashionable but it flatters my fairly short and curvy figure best...
Oot:
Toosh: how many more aborable pics of Amelie can you show us! You should send some pics to a modelling agency, she is just soooo cute!
Answer:
I have an odd bod you see, tried slim fitting t-shirt :cmeek:
Jumper was double :cmeek:
But looks nice with a capped sleeve white shirt , going to venture out tomorrow grab some peep toes may be sorted!:)
Thanks for your help :D
Answer:
So what body type do you have Davinia?
As I menioned, I am fairly curvy (size 12-14) and only 5 feet 5 so if I wear something blousy over wide legged trousers, I look very stumpy. I have the balance the wide legs with someting sleek on top.
But if you have a fairly slim/ willowy or boyish figure, wide-legged trousers look probably much better with a shirt tucked in 70's style like Toosh mentioned.
So you can probably best experiment with different styles of tops to see what suits you best. Or take some pictures and post them here, because you might be much too harsh on yourself!
Is it just me, or is the dress-as-a-skirt thing just plain ridiculous?

Maybe I'm just sick off seeing one too many manky skirts passed off as "strapless dresses" on Ebay, this one for example...

I'm sorry, that is not going to sell your skirt, that just looks disgusting.
Perhaps heregers can prove me wrong, but I've yet to see a girl who can actually carry this look off. As my boyfriend puts it: "It just looks like a skirt pulled up too far." Either wear a skirt, or wear a dress, don't wear your skirt as a dress!
Sienna Miller has a lot to answer for. When will this stupid boho-as-an-excuse-to-wear-any-old-tat thing go away?
Answer:
I agree! I'd much rather buy a skirt and wear it as a skirt. If I want to wear a dress, I'll get one!
I'm not the biggest fan of Sienna Miller. Where exactly did she come from, anyway?! lol.
Thanks for saying what some of us are thinking, CaroLow!
Answer:
I dunno, I think it can look quite nice... not for me though.
Answer:
I wear skirts like this every so often and certainly wouldn't if I thought it looked weird. Mr g_k liked the outfits in each case and was quite surprised when I explained that the 'dresses' were skirts. Similarly for my Mum and my sister (who normally have excellent fashion sense).
You do need to choose the skirt carefully though.

Yeah you can't just wear any old skirt and sling a belt over it!

1 Attachment(s) Hey there...first date excitement!
Personally I'd go for a pretty top with a v-neck jumper or a cardi over it, my most flattering jeans, ballet pumps to match the top (or to contrast) and a blazer.
That way you're still casual but smart :)
Here's what I wore on my last first date:
Answer:
Ms. Leffie, that's a lovely outfit - the green of the sweater really goes with your hair!
Answer:
Oops sorry, hit post too early there!
Meant to say as well that something pretty casual and subtly sexy is probably what you want to aim at - thin cardi's with pretty tops underneath, V-necks like Ms. Leffie etc., I think you want to look like you've made an effort without being intimidating.
With respect to coat vs. gilet, I think you just want to be warm enough - you're not going to enjoy yourself if you're freezing!!!
Have a great time :)
Answer:
I remember your outfit from before, Ms L - lovely!
For a first date, I'd do laid-back smart - jeans, cute V-necked jumper, long coat, heels (especially if they make you feel more confident!). I'd avoid the furry gilet thing because not everyone likes them (my male friends can be quite brutally frank on the topic).
Having said that, my last first date was about five and half years ago, so I'm a little out of touch...

For Anyone who wanted a longer lenght vest top
NO.5. ask :
For Anyone who wanted a longer lenght vest top
Remember there was a few threads a while a go about longer length vest tops.
Well, I was in HM yesterday and spotted a rail of vest tops in the mens section. They are kind of Kate style but with a higher neck line. They had loads of different colours (pale turquoise, royal blue, pale blue, orange, couple of different greens, red, black, white, grey, and more colours i can't remember.)
I have one on today and it comes about 15cm below my hip bone (at least). I'd say the sizes were v. small for mens sizes. I've got a M on and i'm about a 10 or small 12 on top (34D boobs!) The small looked quite small to be and would probably fit an 8-10 womans sizing depending on how tight you like it. (mines tight but not really tight!)
Best bit is they are only £3.99.
Anyone hope this helps someone.
