Birthday pressies!
Its my birthday on Thursday and mr supercat wants to know what to get me. Seeing as I just bought 5 pairs of shoes, I was thinking of some clothes but I don't know what to suggest to him apart from a vintage skirt I've seen in Rokit...
Anyone got any suggestions for something lovely but not tooooooo expensive!

Hi!
I have reached the conclusion that I am well out of touch with fashion, what's in now, what suits everyone etc... I have been wearing the same plain clothes for about 5 years now and it's time for a rehaul!
So, I'm turning to you fashion-savvy baggers  to please point me in the right direction... Which pieces should no wardrobe be without at the moment?!! Any advice would be so gratefully received. Thanks. x
ETA: I'm 5ft 4", size 10/12 with a bit of a belly!! ;) And I'm 28.
Answer:
I'm not an expert fashionista but I have recently managed to reinvent my style recently. :) For me it was quite a slow process, lurking on here a fair bit, lots of window shopping and gradually getting my brain to consider stuff I'd normally discount automatically (like dresses over trousers!)
My two best buys so far have to be my wrap dress and a funky belt - as soon as I put either of them on I instantly feel more fashionable  You can tell I'm such a novice at this, because I'm still amazed at what a difference it makes when you wear a funky belt, shoes and mibbe a necklace with an otherwise plain outfit  :D
Answer:
personally my must have are big flared skirts, cropped trousers and lots and lots of fabulous heels! :yay:
Answer:
Ballet pumps and well cut jeans :)
Answer:
This could get very looooong.... Off the top of my head, my list might look something like this.
-- Cool accessories: funky belts, jewellery, one or two interesting bags, glittery scarves or pretty printed ones (can double as belts)
-- Shoes: A pair of wear-with-everything knee-length boots, cute pumps, wedges for the summer, at least one pair of fabulous heels (metallics are a good choice).
-- Trousers, skirts: A pair of well-fitting jeans, smart black trousers, a denim skirt and a funky printed one for starters. I like slim-fit pencil skirts and swirly ones as well.
-- Tops: Smart v-necked jumpers for work, a beautiful crisp white shirt, basics like vests and Ts in neutrals and bright colours, a lovely cami and some simple cardigans for a start.
-- Jackets/coats: A light-weight jacket in a versatile colour (I like denim jackets; alternatively there are some cool military-look ones this year which are surprisingly versatile), a warmer jacket (maybe suede?) and a blazer (cord or velvet) in a beautiful colour.
I'd also have wrap dresses, a variant on the LBD (not necessarily black, I might add!) and (at the moment) a long peasant/gypsy skirt, ethnic sandals and a kaftan or two to wear with jeans.
My god, that's long. Hope there's some helpful information amidst the ramblings!

Mango suits?
NO.3. ask :
Mango suits?
has anyone bought or seen any nice suits in mango recently?
i want to treat myself to a nice suit for my b'day, and i think mango would be great, as i can have it altered to fit me properly. i haven't been into mango for ages (as it's a fair distance to my nearest branch), and just wondered what's on the rails at the mo.
i generally prefer a jacket that's not too long on the hip nipped in at the waist. don't really want any busy patterns or checks.
they had a lovely pink suit just before xmas the same thing in cream i think, but not sure if they're still available.
any help appreciated. :)
Answer:
Sorry, only have a mango concesion in a dept store where I live, it was a little unimpressive, so i'm not going to be much help there.
However, you could always look on their site
Answer:
thanks EveningKiss, don't know how i missed that when i googled! it must be the most annoying sites tho as it is pretty temperamental..!
only problem is that i've not really seen a suit that i fancy, but plenty of other things!
Answer:
I think they have some nice suits, with some interesting detailing, the summer collection should be coming in soon. You can never really tell what things are like from their website anyway.
Answer:
I bought a nice red suit from Mango a couple of years back - i had to get a size 18 despite being a size 14-16! but i think you get much funkier things there if you look, rather than next etc - my suit was red/trouser and zipped up jacket. My main thing was getting something funkier.

Where can I find ...........
Hi,
I got my colour's done at the weekend, Best 70euro's I've ever spent. I'm an autumn and to my surprise black is not a colour for me. I am a Jean's girl but occasionally I wear black trousers, they now need to go. Can anyone suggest where I could get either straight or boot cut leg trousers in chocolate brown, dark olive green or cobalt navy. Thanks.
Answer:
MS springs to mind but I've also seen several pairs of chocolate trousers in Principles

Answer:
P.S. just being nosy but what does having your colours done involve, do they just try you with loads of different shades?
Answer:
Basically she divided the colour wheel in 4, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The shades were either cool or warm and either muted or vibrant. Autumn is warm and vibrant. On a makeup less face, she tried on various scarf's in different shades. It was very evident which ones suited. Then she went thought each colour in the wheel and rated them as to what best suited you. It was quite amazing how some colour's really made you eyes bigger and brought out the colour :)
Rainjacket - not sure about it
NO.5. ask :
Rainjacket - not sure about it
I'm unsure about whether I should carry on wearing this -
I have a soft semi-see thru pvc rain jacket for mountain biking which I like to wear- actually it's more like a jumper as it does not have a hood or front zip but an elastic at the neck and waist. If I wear it out, it seems to turn heads though, especially from women. Seems to make them do a double take and smirk/ laugh/drop jaws. I know it is unusual but is functional. I don't really understand why they react to it this way and has embarassed me when I've had stares wearing it.
This got me thinking though - Is pvc exclusively for women when it comes to outer weather wear? and therefore thought as odd if men wear it. Ladies, I would appreciate your thoughts. What would your reactions be if you saw a guy wearing what I've described above.
Thanks :)
Answer:
How rude of people to laugh. If it was wet/windy (and assuming you wear a t shirt or something underneath :D) i don't see that it would be anything to stare at.
Answer:
I have'nt seen anyone else in something like this though so I know theyre not common. I think as it just looks like baggy jumper made from semi transparent plastic that maybe it looks a bit strange???. It's gathered round the waist, wrist neck elastics so it's quite roomy as it's meant for mountain biking I do wear a t-shirt under it of course!
But now I feel self conscious if I wear it out to shops, high street etc. It's lightweight which is why I sometimes wear it. I might try and post a pic of it so you can see exactly what it's like.
Is plastic outer wear just seen as a bit different/funny/wierd etc????hence the reactions I've had. Some sales assistants the other day smirked and kept watching me whilst I was shopping:o
Answer:
Ok I'm going to be honest. If I saw a guy wearing something like what you describe, yes I would think it was a bit strange. I wouldn't be rude enough to stare and smirk, but I can imagine it is the kind of thing that would draw people's attention, and not in a good way. God I sound like such a bitch. Sorry.
But really if you feel comfortable in it then there's nothing wrong with wearing it. It's up to you whether you let their smirks and looks put you off it.
Answer:
thanks for the replies. Good to know what people actually think. Would appreciate more opinions:)
