Is anyone else confused about what to buy when they go shopping?

NO.1. Ask :
Is anyone else confused about what to buy when they go shopping?
It just seems to me that even though I try to have a definite list of what I want to buy (which is always being extended...!!), there's always something else that sways me!! I just find that there's so much choice out there with regard to styles, colours, fit, price etc, that sometimes a girl doesn't know where to start! There's so many different variations of clothes - do you all have favourite shops that you stick to etc?
So, I've decided to stick to the basics at the moment - have just bought a chocolate coloured linen jacket from Debenhams, a plain white t-shirt (can't go wrong with that!), a black linen mix tiered skirt from Dottie P's, a cream vest top and have bags, belts and jewellery to accessorise my outfits.
There's just so much out there that I could buy, but a lot of the time I buy on impulse and end up either wearing it and wishing I'd not bothered buying it or not wearing it at all and taking it back! I think I've got too much time on my hands...!
Will shop sensibly...will shop sensibly....!
Just an observation really, no real point to this post I suppose!! :)
Answer:
No, not really..
I leave out with a shopping list in tow and usually stick to it just buying the odd item on top that catches my eye.
I USED to just turn up on Oxford Street armed with my debit card and just buy for the sake of it which resulted in unworn, tagged clothes left in the wardrobe and was generally a waste of money.
Answer:
Hmm, yes, I'm getting better at not impulse buying now - am finding that I'm thinking more carefully about my purchases... but I'm ALWAYS carrying a list around with me!!
Answer:
I never have a list, but sometimes I do have in mind things that I am looking for... doesn't mean I will get these though!
Sometimes I can go home armed with bags of stuff, sometimes I can go home completely empty handed... I suppose I am like CX - I just go for whatever catches my eye.
Answer:
I'm very, very good at shopping, but like all true professionals I regularly put in hours of practice :D :D :D

  • Birkenstocks

    NO.2. ask :
    Birkenstocks
Does anyone know what synthetic birkenstocks are like? I think the material they use is called birkoflor. I normally avoid synthetic footwear like the plage but I have spyed an ebay bargain and would really like some birkenstocks for the summer. I was thinking that they are such good quality anyway the synthetic ones may not be bad. Anyone know?
    Answer:
I think alot of birkies are synthetic... for ages I thought they were leather but they aren't... not the ones I've looked at in the last year anyway.
The inside is lined with this felt-ish feel material so I would imagine it is quite comfortable and shouldn't be a problem.
ETA: I think only the footbed is suede/leather right? Are you talking about synthetic footbed birkies? As I haven't heard of these.
    Answer:
Birkoflor is the synthetic strap material as described above. You can get synthetic footbeds which are suitable for vegans. It feels very similar to the traditional suede footbed but I've no idea how well it wears in comparison.
    Answer:
Thanks for the replies. I emailed the seller and she says they are birkoflor so I'll have a think about it - auction doesn't end until Saturday. If I can get them for a reasonable price then think I'll probably go for it. I avoid synthetic shoes because they always seem to make feet smell but as birkies are open sandals maybe this would'nt be too much of a problem.
    Answer:
If it's any consolation, I wear a pair of Birkis as slippers - have had the same pair for 4 years (that have been worn just about every single day - sounds eww, I know), they have never caused my feet to smell. They're the only shoes/slippers that my feet don't smell in. Sigh.

    Help! Denim Jacket knackered!
Stopped loitering and joined in, in the hope that someone knows somewhere in central London or thereabouts that could put a new stud in a denim jacket - tried locally (north London) but apparently I need a "specialist" to do this?? Anyone help?? Cheers x
    Answer:
Do you mean a button? If so you can buy them at John Lewis and the only "specialist" tool you need is a hammer, I've replaced jeans buttons myself with these and they work a treat providing the denim wasn't ripped thn the old button was lost.

EBAY QUERY - Anyone got an authentic Allison Burn Faithfull bag???
I won a bag off ebay a couple of weeks ago - here's a copy of the ebay ad.
Anyway, it arrived yesterday and the stitching is crap, and the bloody name label is wonky!
I'm fuming! Don't think it's authentic at all... I've emailled the seller today but was just wondering if shitty stitching is what I should have been expecting...
    Answer:
Re: EBAY QUERY - Anyone got an authentic Allison Burn Faithfull bag???
was just wondering if shitty stitching is what I should have been expecting...
Of course it shouldn't! What kind of stupid designer makes items that fall apart?!
Fingesr crossed the seller won't be a bitch about it and will refund your money!
    Answer:
I know that I shouldn't expect shitty stitching - I was being a bit sarky... bit early in the morning you see!
But I've emailled her... just have to wait and see what happens now.
    Answer:
Did you check her feedback to see if she's sold any other Faithfulls?
    Answer:
i was going to bid on that - but my internet access collapsed with 10 mins to go!
i've got HKBL making me a gold one now after seeing toosh's and dying with envy.
hope you get it sorted...just really depends on the seller's integrity doesnt it.
