Answer:
Thanks
Really want cream as is going with a blue dress.....and think white will look a bit stark....also very pale skinned and white seems to wash me out. I'll have a look at HM, I've tried Ebay with no success. If all else fails I will get mt Grandma to make me on...at least I get the fabric and style I want.
Thanks again for all your help. x

Have you tried Asda? My local had some in the other day I believe.
Camel Wedges
NO.2. ask :
Camel Wedges
...and, no, I don't mean the effect a lady gets when her trousers are too tight:p .
Sorry, to start another wedge thread but this is a very specific question. I am looking for camel wedges that are not a huge platform, say no more than 2cm as any higher and I look like a towering transvestite, with preferably a leather covered heel but if not, a wooden heel - has anyone seen any ??
I'd like them to be quite plain too as I don't really want half a bead shop and coin mint hanging off my ankles but I am happy to buy ones with thingies on them and have a go at removing them myself, its the colour that I'm finding hard to locate.
I'm basically trying to find a pair very like the Hermes ones I have fallen in love with - but at about 1/10th the price....
I've found a really nice pair in Whistles in a chestnut colour but I'd prefer a camel as I am very fair with short legs so shoes that are closer to my 'natural' colour (after two layers of fake tan ;) to make them skin colour) will really help me out !
Please, PLEASE, let me know if you have seen any in your shopping travels !:)
Answer:
Hmmmm some pretty tan/camel wooden heel wedges in Oasis at the mo, Ellie - I had my heart set on them but changed my mind at the last minute and went for lovely raffia-soled chocolate leather Zara ones instead....happy hunting! :)
Answer:
Reiss have some which I think fit your description they tie up the leg though . . .
Answer:
thanks !! I am going to Reiss at lunch anyway to have a look at their shorts so will have a look - not so sure about the tie-ups though. I have some espadrille wedges (from last summer) with that effect and I just end up with lots of ribbons around my ankles - if I have to tie them tight I'm a bit worried my legs might look like a rolled pork loin:sick:
Answer:
Reading your threads make me so envious!!
I live in Aylesbury and if I pop out into town during my lunch break, there is not one shoe shop that I can browse... just rubbish selections at the back of shops, such as :-

Grrrrr!!
I'm like a child in a sweet shop when I go to London or large shopping centres... its like a different world!
hope you managed to get your shoes anyway!
Am I the only one not sure about shorts?
NO.3. ask :
Am I the only one not sure about shorts?
I'm not saying that I don't think they look nice on other people (although to be fair, I can't say I've seen anyone out and about in them and I'm not totally convinced about the mag pictures......)
I think maybe it's because I'm tall. And it's a bit like knee length or just below the knee skirts - on tall people, we just have too much sticking out the bottom of the skirts imho!! Short skirts are fine and long, calf length skirts are fine but the inbetween ones just don't really work on tall people, I don't think.
BUT I'm ready to be convinced!! ;) (any excuse to go shopping ;) )
Oh and bear in mind, I'm a v boring, albeit v fit mum who does mucho walking and so can't wear lovely sky high wedges (plus the fact that I'd look like the jolly green giant.:sniffles: the only green smilie :p )

I saw a woman in a pair yesterday on Oxford and she looked so wrong!
She was about 5ft10 (in heels) and she wore a pale pink pair of knee length shorts with BLACK fishnets and black stilettos with a bloody parka jacket!!!
I think her heels were hurting her too cos she was walking funny. That teamed with her "stylish" outfit, she drew more attention to herself for all the wong reasons.
Answer:
Hi Katkinn,
I imagine my shorts would be almost hot pants on you so I know where you're coming from, but I imagine some tailored knee length ones (obviously sans parka and fishnets) would look so elegant on you.
Culottes would look great as well as you've got the height to carry them off with flats / pumps which I can't really do at my height. I have to wear mine with full on heels or I am dwarfed by their bigness!

Answer:
I just can't wear them, I don't know why!
The knee-length-ish ones make me look like a Boy Scout, and the short ones make my legs look hideous.
I'd love to wear them with Mary Janes and a cute cropped jacket, but it just ain't gonna happen.

Answer:
I'm a bit scarred by shorts-wearing episodes in the past (I actually had a school uniform that was shorts:eek: ) so am not sure if I can face this demon. I am going to give culottes a try (in fact am popping to Reiss and MS at lunch to try on) but I am not sure I can be budged....
I am also quite sure that I won't be wearing shorts at night, even if I manage to find a pair that don't expose my elephantine knees......knees are just sooooo unattractive and have to be my least favourite part of my body !
Pringle - to chav or not to chav
NO.4. ask :
Pringle - to chav or not to chav
So what do we think? Has it escaped the Burberry curse?? (cos I'm sure it was DEFINITELY heading that way at one point.......:( )
I'm currently wearing a tiny round neck Pringle tank top in camel, salmon and cream over a white puffed arm short sleeved t, and was just remembering how much I liked it, but suddenly thought - oh cr*p has La beckham been seen in one of these yet??
(I know that Le beckham has, but that was years ago and just wondered about Her Chav Highness??;) )

Answer:
Katkinn you look way too classy to be tarred with the Beckham brush and those Pringle tanks are classics.
I'd try not to pair it with your extensive collection of pink Juicy trackin bottoms and perhaps the dior bag is a bit too pink, but I'm sure you'll be fine!

Answer:
I think Pringle clothing is not chav but the pringle bags (bowling bag style) are - I certainly see a lot of close-to-chavette type girls at my gym using them as gym bags....mind you I am carrying a Head bag so am in no position to snob !
Answer:
Head bags are pretty cool ina retro way though!!!
I'm sure we all had one at some point. Mine was huge (I could fit in it) and navy blue. My brother had the same one. I think you can tell that my Mum went for practicality over style and I had very little input!
Mimi x
Answer:
I think that pringle has become a bit of a chav label, but I don't think anything less of anyone that's not a chav that wears it!
Halternecks with vest tops
NO.5. ask :
Halternecks with vest tops
Ok. I'm normally ok with things like this, but it's possible that my judgement is clouded because I REALLY want it to work... I have to wear a bra and a strapless one doesn't do it. I love halternecks and have good shoulders and neck etc so would in theory suit them. Apart from my boobs I'm pretty average at the top.
Is it a total sin to wear a halterneck over a vest top? Am thinking of a nice jersey type halterneck over a fitted, wide strapped vest (the ones that actually look like vests). What do people think?
Answer:
Think that the shape and material of the tops would determine it.
Vest would need to be low necked at the front and preferably low at teh back because I think that a vest coming up right to the neck at the back would look wrong under a Halterneck.
Also, try and get the back of both tops to be ending around pretty much the same area, as I think that if there was a big difference it might make you look wide across the back.
From the front, I think that it depends very much on the shape of the individual tops.
I do think that if you could get the tops in a silk/silk jersey material it would look a lot more individual and they'd work together a lot better than just cotton/t shirt material ones.
Or even one of the Warehouse patterned style halters, but would have to be a lycra sheened and fitted vest underneath in one of the plain colours.
Just go into the shops and try lots of combinations. It will work, but you just need to match the right shapes and materials together.
Answer:
not sure about that way round, but definately a vest over a halterneck.
Answer:
Re: Halternecks with vest tops
I don't know if you have these vests already. If you're buying one, why not try a racerback? I think they look nice in most vest combinations and there quite a bras available these days that can be adapted to racerbacks (in fact, I think you can buy a little piece that hooks on to your back bra strap that does it for you). I don't know that much about the bras though as I tend not to wear one if I've got a few layers on (think aspirin on an ironing board  )
Answer:
I think casual cotton halternecks with strappy vests looks ok... but if the halterneck is smart then I think this would look a bit wrong.
