Your top ten fashion do's and don'ts...
What are your top ten fashion do's and don'ts? The rules that you abide by?
Mine are (in no particular order):
Always make sure the leg of my trousers is wider than my mammoth thighs
Never have uneccesary nipplage
Denim and denim do not go!
Fitted tops are more flattering than baggy t-shirts
If a top highlights more than one roll of flab, get the next size up
Never have the muffin effect on trousers/jeans
I do not wear skirts above the knee
Orange and red generally don't go
Black is the new black
and finally
Chav is not cool!
Answer:
What in god's name is the muffin effect??
xx:lol:
Answer:
The muffin effect is when fat bulges over the top of your waistband (particularly on low-waisted jeans) like the top of a muffin.
Answer:
Well, apparently guys like the "cupcake effect" - which is where there is a tiny bit of roll over your jeans, just enough so that you don't look like a stick insect with too big jeans (fat chance of that happening for me!!), but when the roll becomes far too much, it's the "muffin effect".
Just think about how much cupcakes and muffins hang over the cake papers ;)
Answer:
Mine is "if you think its pretty don't just buy it it probably won't look pretty on you" It's been a hard and expensive lesson to learn.
On this theme I spotted a seriously funky pair of dungerees on a huge wall poster in TS and after careful consideration I decided that Mimicat should buy them not me. She's young, slim and funky, I'm not (funky yes but not that young or silm). They had a deep V rather that a bib, very 70's. Get your purse out and get down to TS Mimi.......... :D
"wonder pants" (maybe that should read miracle pants!) needed!

"wonder pants" (maybe that should read miracle pants!) needed!
Does anyone know what knicks are best to get for under wrap dresses for the summer? Winter is okay as tights or trousers smooth the bumpy bits!:o
What about those wonder pants TS always go on about? Are they any good? The only thing is I did want something a bit nice looking as well - or is that too much to ask?
I wanted something to smooth and tone and maybe to come a third of the way down the thigh (not really long things!)
Any opinions would be very much appreciated.:)
Answer:
Marks and Spencers have lots of different "miracle" pants that are supposed to plump up or conceal certain body bits. Whether they work or not, I don't know! Here's a link to their "shapewear" range.
If you are looking for some really good miracle pants, go into your nearest lingerie shop and ask them - mine took about 3 inches off my arse for my 6th year prom :d
Answer:
Debenhams
do there own range - m and s sizes come up small and the waist bands can cut youin half. Or try TK Maxx for American ones - sometimes something good for a fiver. make sure you get two way stretch, otherwise they can roll down!!!!!!
Answer:
These look good and I'm sure I have seen them in flesh tone in the shops. They are not exactly pretty but if they are half as good as the MS shaping tights they will be worth it.

Answer:
The Magic Knickers Susanna and Trinny always harp on about are from Bodie Gibbs of Knightsbridge, London. The product is called Magic Slimshort and costs £28.50. For more information, telephone 020 7259 6620. They really, really work but are the most unattractive things ever. If you do get a pair then do get the ones which come up very high to just below your bust, as the lower ones just transfer the fat further up the body and you get a cut off line. I can thoroughly recommend these. x
would this look ok?
NO.3. ask :
would this look ok?
1 Attachment(s) Would this dress look ok worn over flared jeans? Im so sick of wearing the same style (im pretty dull and predictable with style) and this board has really inspired me to try new styles.
If it helps im 5'5 and a size 8 - 10. Would also like opinions on whether this dress over jeans style would suit me.
Thanks :)
Answer:
I love the dress and think it would look good over jeans. The only way to really tell if it will suit is to try it on.
I'm 5'4 and a size 10 and this look does not work for me as I'm very pear shaped. The bulk of jeans under a dress makes the problem worse.
Answer:
thanks for your reply.
I have a pretty 'no shape' kinda shape with small hips so dont think the extra padding of the jeans would be a prob if that makes sense.
Will have to try it on and see. Hoepfully they will have the dress at my local branch!
Answer:
I can't see the dress, but I really like dresses over jeans and if you are slim hipped it will look fab.

Dress - what do we think?
NO.4. ask :
Dress - what do we think?
1 Attachment(s) Ive recently purchased this dress for a wedding(the picture is the top version, but Im sure you can imagine it - its about knee length) and wondered what colour accesories I should have.
Im thinking tan shoes and clutch bag. To go with the brown in the pattern becasue Id probably get more wear out of them later.
Do we think this would be okay?
Thanks!
Answer:
It's beautiful fabric and lovely colours too.
Personally, I think you'd be better with chocolate brown accessories rather than tan - I've seen loads of lovely lattice brown shoes around...
Answer:
That top (dress) is lovely... nothing useful to add other than I don't think tan shoes would go with it.... you might be better off sticking with a brown shoes that matches the top.
Answer:
Oh that is absolutely stunning, I really like that.
Perhaps chocolate brown accesories, they would also be very easy to use again, and it looks to have that colour in.
Or gold, that would look very nice.
Although dark tan would look lovely in contrast too.
You will look stunning.
Answer:
lovely
but stick with chocolate accesories, or fuschia!
Where is it from?
Converse Trainers
NO.5. ask :
Converse Trainers
Whats the general opinion about Converse trainers, as I seem to see more and more people wearing them these days.
I quite like them at at £29.99 its not a lot to shell out, even if you don't wear them very much. But for once I'd like to set the trend and not follow it!!
Answer:
I used to live in converses but now its all about the dunlop green flash for me! They're so comfy and look good with my jeans and combats.
Answer:
I love converse, I have a white pair that have been worn to death and a green pair which are my funky pair. They look great with anything jeans, trousers... when it was nicer weather a few weeks back I wore my whiteones with rolled up jeans, I love 'em. Will wear my green ones with a denim skirt when its warmer :)
FL- I bought these recently.... and I love them. They had different designs too not just sunrise :)
Answer:
I like them. I have a grey pair with a tiny pink line round them.
Although you may see them on lots of people I think the great thing is that there are literally hundreds of different styles and people wear them with different styles of clothing so they're still quite individual.
Office is the best high street store for getting in the best styles / limited editions.
My only criticism is that I've had comfier trainers.
Answer:
They are the only trainers I wear outside the gym and me and Mr Mimi have a huge collection between us! They're a design classic and suit everyone. I especially love them on men - very MJ!
I would say that if you're going for basic white, the leather ones are worth the extra money as the white canvas ones get knackered very quickly.
