Outfit for dinner

NO.1. Ask :
Outfit for dinner
Hello :)
It's my birthday next weekend, and Mr Cornish is taking me out to an Italian restaurant for dinner :D
I have no idea really what I'd like to wear, but I would quite like to knock his socks off ;)
I'm thinking feminine but a bit sexy at the same time....
Maybe a dress?
I have about £100 to spend.
Any ideas?
Answer:
If your BF is anything like mine then I would concentrate on visual and textures.
Still, given that, perhaps you are better off wearing a favourite outfit that he's seen on you and you know he likes but spending the money on some sexy lingerie for undeneath? Topped off with some sexy kitten heels;) :p
Answer:
Definitely agree with jasminebarley about wearing sexy shoes. Also any pretty jewellery that he has bought you would be lovely.
For my b.f's last birthday we went to a little restaurant with v. romantic lighting. I wore a black lace and silk slip over fitted black cropped trousers and he loved it, I think because I was wearing my underwear. (don't worry I'm not a crazywoman, it wasnt the type of thing that people would stare at thinking "good lord she's forgotten to put her clothes on" :D)
Answer:
I think I'd like to wear something quite ladylike, maybe with fifties styling - But with some racy underwear underneath, then I'd tell him over dinner what I had on ;)
I might try Monsoon tomorrow, see what they have.

    Advice on ebay gauchos

What do you think of these?
    They're a size M, and I'm a size 10, do you reckon they'll be ok?
I'm not sure about the colour though, is white just a bad idea?
    Answer:
hummm, how mch are they? They look a bit cheap to me, sorry!
What would you wear with them?
    Answer:
I think the size should be okay - I don't think they look bad if they are a bit big and they look awful if they are tight around the thighs. I'm not sure about the white - it really depends on how thick the material is. Mine from Urban Outfitters are pretty unforgiving, so I'd be worried if they were white, but in principle white would be gorgeous.

    Answer:
I agree they look a bit cheap and if you were going to go for white I think it would be worth spending a bit more. The size sounds fine though.
    Answer:
    Hi
I have to say that I think those look really cheap. The material looks awful and i don't think white is the most flattering colour in gauchos - I think they would be very unforgiving. Sorry :( Also (and correct me if I'm wrong because I'm no expert) but those seem to have a gathered effect where the waistband meets the top of the leg. I thought they were just supposed to be cut on the bias and flare out with no gathering ......

Mango website. Is it just me....
...who can't use it properly?! Tried on some nice cropped trousers yesterday but they didn't have my size so thought I'd order from www.mangoshop.com But the only way I can find things is by clicking on 'see all' and looking through the entire range! When I try to click on 'garment' then 'trousers', nothing happens. Anyway, these are the trousers I want, except I want them in beige which I couldn't find (there's nothing else in the 'choose a colour' section) They're called 'Barbarella' and I'd be really grateful if anyone could help!
    Answer:
just had a look and if you click on the size then colour options come up!

    Answer:
 Thank you! And they have my size in stock! Now I'm tempted by the other colour as well though, it looked like khaki to me, but it's decribed as 'coal' on the website. Hmmm decisions...
    Answer:
Have to say I really like both colours! Havent used the mango website before, are they good at taking returns etc, how much is delivery?
    CB
    Answer:
I haven't ordered from the website before, but I imagine it'll be ok to return one of the pairs to a store if I do order both...

Essential pieces in a "smart casual" wardrobe
I will be starting my first 'proper' job in september and the dress code is classed as smart casual.
What essential pieces do you think I need, I am planning to buy a few bits here and there as I cant afford lots of new things all at once!
    Thanks, CB
    Answer:
Hmmm 'smart casual' is a bit vague... What sort of work is it? And what's your usual style? Generally, my work basics are a few pairs of well-fitting trousers and cropped trousers, smartish tee shirts which I'm wearing with various shrug cardis at the moment, a few jumpers for when it's colder, a few shirts incase I need to be a bit smarter (usually wrap shirts, I never wear buttoned ones for some reason...). I wear ballet pumps pretty much everyday at the moment just because I'm on my feet all day, usually boots in the winter. I'm being quite vague here, but I do think it's worth making an effort with work clothes. I know some people don't but you spend so much time in them I think it's definitely worth it...
    Answer:
I agree with Karina, smart trousers are a must. You could go for skirts too, in my old job waitressing (smart casual too) I had too wear a skirt. I had three, one with a ruched design down one side, a assymetric one, and one with lace edging. Delicate strappy tops might work too and definately shirts/tees/jumpers. Ballet pumps or Mary Janes would be good shoes, high heels are not good when your on your feet all day (I made this mistake, 4 inch stilettoes are not good waitressing shoes).

    Answer:
If you stick with classic stuff then you can't go far wrong. If you are in a creative industry though, you might need to dress more colourfully to stand out more.
You could buy a skirt/trouser suit but only wear the skirt or trousers - at least you'll have the jacket in case you do need a complete suit. Most people I worked with though normally stick with black trousers and rarely wore skirts. A smartish cardy might also be useful for Autumn/Winter.
Smartish heels might be useful , especially if you are on the short side (say not more than 2-3 inches high depending on how much time you spend on your feet). A smart pair of flats would also come in handy. Shoes should be in a classic colour like black or something that will match most of your work outfits. If you are commuting plus walking to work then you might want some commuting shoes like trainers or more casual flats. You might also need to buy some tights/stockings/pop socks.
A selection of shirts would be useful - say not more than 3. About 5 tops or so should see you through the season. Places like Next and Uniqlo are good for basic topics.
A selection of classic jewellery pieces might be nice though not necessary.
A smart bag might also be useful. If you think you'll be bringing your lunch with you, then you might want a slightly larger bag. A winter coat and/mac might also come in handy.
If you were given a tour of your workplace, perhaps you can remember what the other people were wearing? This should give you a nudge in the right direction.:)

    cheap basic tops
    hi
went to primark today, managed to pick up some bargains,
a lovely hot pink boho skirt for #6 and 4 sleep sets for #2 each
however, i tried on a multitude of cheap tops (honeymoon in june and am skint) and they all looked hideous.
i am looking for sleeveless v-neck fitted t-shirts really as i know these are the best shape for me (size 12 with 34f)
i don't want to buy plain vests as i can't wear these to work.
so, question is, where shall i try?
had a look in new lok and dorothy perkins but everything seems to be strappy with baggy tummy area at the moment and this doesn't suit me.
i am looking for as cheap as possible!
    thanks
    Answer:
Tesco sell some very cheap 'value' tees, i think they do v-neck sleeveless ones, the value strappys are 1.50, so they shouldn'tbe much more, and I think ASDA do them too, mum bought a black one with embrodiery on the shoulder about a month ago.

    Answer:

    Answer:
Tesco, great tight v neck t shirts.
