Primark military jacket

NO.1. Ask :
Primark military jacket
I finally managed to get myself one of these today in black (hurrah!) and I was just wondering - what do you all wear with it? I can't think what might go with it other than jeans. Any ideas anyone?!
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) I've worn a similar jacket with cropped linen trousers:
(bandying this photo about a bit as have just worked out how to upload phone pics, so bear with me!)
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) Also gauchos might look nice.
Or a denim mini:
Answer:
That's a great outfit! Yeah, cropped trousers might look good.
Answer:
I wear mine with jeans like you've mentioned and also cropped trousers, either with knee boots when it's cold or gold t bar shoes if it's nicer out (sounds a strange combo but i like to think it works!)
Think it could look quite quirky with gypsy skirts, specially maxi length skirts because of the different proportions of the clothing, if you can pull it off that is:)

There was a thread about dying cord quite recently in fact, if you type in 'dying cord' into the search engine at the bottom of the page, you should be able to find it. There'll be some good tips on there, I'm sure!

inspired 2 make miu miu esque headband?
after reading about hairbands miu miu around £28, thinking about making my own, getting my hands on some retro material a wide headband,( claires or somewhere like that ) either supergluing on or stitching, i know theres a few creative types on here; fairy poppins, geek kitten or anyone else thought of this ?
    Answer:
Yeah, I'm after a brown hairband to wear with my lovely new dress - was thinking of making one if I couldn't find one.
Have you thought about using ribbon?
There was an article in May's Glamour about DIY hair accessories - they sewed black sparkly beads onto a plain fabric Claire's Accessories a la Louis Vuitton, stuck little daisies on a thin metal band (mega cute idea with little silk flowers for summer?) a la Lanvin, and just painted a print onto a scarf to do the whole Miu Miu thing.
A lot of people suggested scarves on my thread - maybe a strip of fabric either tied like a scarf or fastened at the back somehow would be easier to work with rather than an actual band?

  • Will my shoes become more comfortable?

    NO.4. ask :
Will my shoes become more comfortable?
...or should I take them back to the shop for a refund before I wear them?
I have bought a lovely pair of shoes which have elasticated strappy bits across the bridge of my foot. They felt really comfy in the shop but I have worn them for 20 minutes around the house now, and the elastic cross-over bit is seriously doing my head in, I am now worried my foot will drop off from lack of circulation to my toes :o . Has anyone bought shoes with elasticated bits and do they 'give' eventually? They are from Clarks, a nice comfy moccasin main bit, its just the straps...daft question, but I am normally a trainer girl, trying to learn to wear more 'feminine' shoes
    Answer:
Is the elastic attached to the leather or is it just elastic on it's own?
    Answer:
The elastic is attached to the leather by little leather loops in 8 places - 3 at the heel, then criss-crossed across the bridge of the foot in 5 places. The piece of elastic runs around the back of the heel, down either side towards the front, finishing at a loop above the middle toe, if that makes sense.
I have just taken the left foot off, which was the worst by a long way, and you can definitely see where the shoe has been.
I can't decide if they are really uncomfortable or if I am just too used to trainers and am therefore a wimp :meh:
    Answer:
I sympathise: painful shoes are no fun at all. Well done you for trying them on at home before going out! But even if it is just you being a wimp, it won't make them any less painful each time you wear them. If you have to break them in quite that much (cutting off your circulation!) then I would suggest you take them back and spend your money on a less painful pair. No matter how lovely they look, you'll just always reach for a more comfy pair to wear!
Is there any chance they are too small? Or that you could loosen the elastic? By unpicking where it's attached and sewing it back on strategically? I'm finding it nigh impossible to visualise the shoes but HTH!
    Answer:
I'm finding it nigh impossible to visualise the shoes but HTH!
Sorry, that'll be my pants explanation!! It's fairly difficult to explain, but basically they can't be cut because the elastic holds the back and front together, so it loops round the back then off to the front, one side crossing the other above the bridge of the foot, in true 'red indian moccasin' stylee. I can't even send a link to a pic because they aren't on the Clarks website. I am not helped by the fact that my left foot is half a size bigger than my right :(
They're just like the lovely pair of moccasins I bought from Faith a couple of months ago - fine in the shop, but when wore them to work, after an hour they gave me nasty blisters on my heels because of their shape at the back  I don't think that wearing trainers / loose shoes / comfy boots for the last 10 years has helped matters...

    NO.5. ask :
    Gaucho Questions???
    Hi all,
Thanks to you lot, I am not obsessed with getting a pair of gaucho's. !!!
Sent my brother to the Urban outfitters in the US but no luck there as I want a black pair and they only had them in the other two colours, also checked out two Targets as they have them on there website but no luck there either.
I've now decided ebay it the way to go. So my questions are what size should i get? I'm a 10-12 depending on the shop and obviously don't want them skin tight:sick: so i was thinking a medium???
Next question is about the material, they seem to be different mixes of materials on ebay 94% nylon 6% spandex and 45% polyester 45% rayon and 10% spandex (god i hate that word:lol: ) I don't want them to be shiny lycra style!! Was thinking the second mix would be better:confused:
Has anyone secessfully brought any off ebay and can recommend a seller?
    Sorry for the long post!
    Thanks
    Uptowngirl
    Answer:
I am an 8-10 and bought a pair of black gauchos in small off eBay, so I reckon you should go for medium.
Mine are 95% polyester, 5% elastane and they feel lovely and swishy! They are also a nice length.
The seller I bought from is called poshcentral but if you check the many threads about gauchos you might find other sellers' names to investigate.
    Good luck, they're lovely!
    Answer:
I'm a 10-12 and bought some medium Gauchos from tikiboutique on ebay. They fit really well - looked tiny when I unwrapped them but have a lot of stretch in them! I love them and might go to UO today to get another pair!
    Answer:
I purchased from Badhabit and she's really nice to deal with
    Answer:
I got mine from poshcentral too! I got a size medium and i'm a 12 if that helps :)
poshcentral just does buy it now auctions i think too so no faffing about it you want them more quickly:yay:
