Do you have to wear a bolero with a vest?

NO.1. Ask :
Do you have to wear a bolero with a vest?
I just bought a lovely bolero (a brown crochet one) over the weekend. I am really self conscious about my stomach, and try to avoid vest tops.
Should I brave wearing a vest top or is there anything else I can wear the bolero with?
Answer:
There are some gorgeous slouchy long-line vests about which don't have to cling to your tummy. I have a lovely taupe racer back one from TS (quite old), and have seen them also in DP and Miss S... they just skim over your tum very flatteringly! You might be able to get away with other stuff depending on the length of the bolero sleeves and the style (ie sloppy or tighter)... what's it like?
Answer:
The style is sloppy and the sleeves are long. I will try to find those vests you suggested.
Thing is with normal vests I look fine standing up, but when I still down some fat bulges out.
:o
Answer:
I totally understand! I hate midriff showing myself. I have a sloppy shrug from Oasis and wear long line vests with it: I like the way you get to see a tiny bit of shoulder (how risqué)! Otherwise, a neutral/earthy coloured short/long-sleeved top MIGHT work, would have to be the right style though, i.e. not too sporty, and jersey material would be best IMO. Maybe something like the Warehouse top Catwoman posted about (deep V with a couple of buttons)... TBH though, some of those tops might be tighter than a slouchy vest!
Answer:
Another vote for slouchy vests! :)
The only thing i tend to wear with my shrugs are vest type things, other tops are usually a statement on they're own and look too fussy with a shrug as well.

My beige jacket from Warehouse arrived and I got my gauchos from UO so I wore them together, with a black vest top and a brown weave belt, and some beige stilettos. A carried a tiny indian beaded clutch bag to finish it off. Looked fab!

Returning shoes to Office - is there anything I can do?
I bought some shoes from Office last week and returned them on Saturday as they didn't fit quite right...and hit a brick wall with getting a refund.
Basically the shoes were too big but I'm a size 3 and Office dont' do shoes in a size 2.
The Manager (who was fairly dismissive of me) told me there was nothing she could do as their policy stated an exchange or credit note - no refunds.
She basically said it was my fault for not trying them on properly in the shop and then got stroppy when I told her i'd felt under pressure to buy them (which is true).
*sigh* So i got a credit note, an address of where to write to and her name.
Could i have stood my ground and got a refund? I've never shopped at Office before and don't want to again - excpet i've got a bloody £50 credit note.

    Answer:
Not sure hun, but there are loads of threads on this board about how terrible Office customer service is. A lot of peeps are boycotting them as a result (I haven't set foot in there in years - no pun intended!). I've heard they're not very good with returns even when goods are faulty and they try and blame the customer etc.
I think someone said they had better luck by getting stroppy with head office - might be worth a try.
    Answer:
I don't have any experience with taking things back to Office but failing getting through to Head Office for a refund, I would suggest selling it to someone on HB. I'm sure someone is going to buy some shoes from there in the near future...
    Answer:
I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble!
Loads of people have had this problem with Office.
They are within their rights not to give you a refund, even though the majority of shops would give you a refund as a gesture of goodwill.
A lot of people shop now and make the final decision on whether to keep the item at home, if Office don't change their policy they'll go on losing customers - their loss.
I don't shop there anymore because of a dispute with them.
    Answer:
Cheers for the quickie replies! I think i'll be boycotting Office after this, it wasn't so much their policy as their snotty, dismissive attitude.
I'm going to see if anyone at work wants to buy the credit note off me, if not then if anyone on here wants to buy it, PM me!
