Charlotte Beach Pants
1 Attachment(s) Hello,
Whilst I'm ordering from NessaLee I thought I might get a pair of these. Does anyone have any or know what the sizing is like?
And most importantly do you like them and what colour do you think?
Mimi x
Answer:
i hear they come up small. i'd get the white!
Answer:
They also have black and bright pink.
Would white be totally see through?? I'm thinking they are perfect for padding out the flat to buy a coffee on Sunday mornings and don't want to show the neighbours my knickers!!
Mimi xx
Answer:
Yeah they're nice for rolling about in. I like both the blue and white.
Essential wardrobe for student
NO.2. ask :
Essential wardrobe for student
Hi there,
I'm going off to University this year and I want to do a little bit of shopping before I go, make sure I've got everything I'll need. Unfortunately, of course, I'm on a budget - what I'm hoping to do is get down to my local T K Maxx and get some bargains.
What do you think is a wardrobe essential? I want to look kind of smart-casual, I'm not particularly girly or fashionista.
I have several casual skirts, a variety of T shirts, a couple of slightly scruffy cardis/jumpers, and (I've just realised) quite a few pairs of trousers that are pretty worn out (several of them 4-5 years old and looking the worse for it). I'm okay for shoes - I have some nice long black boots, smartish black/grey trainers, and a few more pairs of casual shoes.
The things I've thought of so far that I need are some nice, new trousers (thinking jeans - I've just worn my last pair out - and maybe some cords) and some smart jumpers/blazers/cardigans that I can layer for when it gets colder. I'd love to get a new coat, but I don't think that the budget will stretch to it. Oh, and I'll need to get some new socks ... must remember that.
What do you wear all the time (particularly in autumn/winter)? Is there anything in particular I'm missing? I think I could do with buying a few belts and accessories and things but I'm not really sure where to start.
Any comments appreciated :)
Answer:
Hey, hope you have a brilliant time at uni! The look really at uni is pretty casual. I wear jeans almost all the time, hoodys, cardigans with vest tops underneath and lots of ballet flats, or boots with jeans tucked in. Lots of people wear uggs, or fake uggs at that with denim skirts. Really its just comfy but fashionable. I think dressing things up with accessories is a brill idea. x
Answer:
For coats, get down to Primark - they have quite a few nice ones for around £20-25. They won't last more than a couple of years max, I suspect, but if your coat takes anything like the abuse mine took when I was a student, it won't be fit for wear after a couple of years anyway!
Your list looks fine - I'd get some decent basics such as jeans, jumpers, cardies and so on as you suggest, and layer them. Unless you already have a strong sense of style, I'd actually be tempted to go for fairly cheap things in case you go off stuff (Primark cardies and jumpers are quite decent these days) because (again if you're anything like me!) uni will be the time that you start to develop your own style a bit more; it's a great place to experiment.
For accessories Topshop is often a good place for starters - Dorothy Perkins sometimes do quite cool belts and Miss Selfridge can be a good place for jewellery. I also like Hannah Zakari - pardon me for pimping it, Dots ;) - which has some gorgeous unusual quirky stuff.
My a/w staples are dresses, tights (or leggings), dresses, cardies, jumpers and boots. I wear long boots over jeans a lot too - you might find that a pair of reliable knee high brown or tan boots would be a good investment.

Answer:
Just make sure you have things like cardigans, t-shirts/vests/camis, skinny jeans (if you wear them), converse, ugg boots for wearing with casual dresses/skirts/tucked into skinnies, ballet pumps and a hoodie maybe
Those are my essentials anyway. I dress casual for uni, and mostly cosy/comfortable in winter. It's not supposed to be a fashion show (wish some try hards would realise that  )
Answer:
I'm a student and most of the stuff I wear day-to-day is some combination of the following outfits - they're all really comfy and practical which is what you need when you're walking around campus/sitting in lectures all day, but hopefully quite cute and girly too (or maybe I'm just kidding myself and I look crap  ) I think most people are fairly casual, at my uni anyway - you're usually too hungover to care what you look like, students are known for being scruffy for a reason :cmcheers:
* 1. Most days - skinny jeans tucked into flat leather boots (OR cosy Ugg boots if it's really cold), worn with a longline vest (either a girly printed one or a plain one with a funky long necklace to jazz it up a bit) and a cardi. This is my 'uniform' for uni in winter - casual and comfy but still a bit interesting. Plus tucking your jeans into a pair of boots means no soggy hems when you're walking around campus in the rain!
* Hangover days - Wide leg/casual jeans (e.g. Topshop Mooch jeans) with converse-style trainers (New Look do cheapie Converse copies if you're on a budget) or a pair of ballet pumps, worn with a cute tee or hoodie - Topshop do some quite nice ones e.g. Oversized Heart Hoodie - Long Sleeve - Tops - Topshop. I realised early on that when you've got a 9am lecture and you've been out the night before, a hoodie and baggy jeans is the only thing you want to wear, so you might aswell go with it and make it a nice one
* I also quite like dresses worn over jeans and boots with a cardi e.g. - StyleDiary
So I think your basic shopping list would be something like this - (ignore whatever you've already got!)
* A pair of skinny jeans - dark ones like indigo or black are probably most flattering. You can wear these dressed down in the daytime or dressed up with a top and heels for a night out
* A pair of flared/wide leg jeans to be worn on more casual days
* Ballet pumps - comfy and look nice with either skinny or flared jeans - I love these ones Office Shoes - Flats for her - Office (W) - STELLA BOW BALLERINA
* Lots of cardis, if they're your thing - I have them in every colour, as they're so versatile
* Pretty camis/vests - a bit more girly than a plain vest maybe?
* Plain tees and vests which can be thrown on with jeans and then dressed up with a necklace or fab belt - again Topshop are good for basics like this
* At least one hoodie - you're not a student without one
* A bag for holding all your uni files etc on the way to lectures - I know I keep plugging Topshop but their 'shopper' type bags are quite good for this, and cheap too - although they're not that strong if you're wanting to carry a load of books around Multi Hearts Gathered Shopper - Bags - Shoppers - Accessories - Topshop
Or a leather one if you want something a bit stronger.
* Maybe a cotton dress that you can throw over jeans in the daytime or dress up with leggings/bare legs and heels for a night out
* Then just get a few necklaces (maybe long pendant-style ones or long bead necklaces?) and belts to pull outfits together
You'll probably need some dressing-up/fancy dress outfits for Fresher's week too, there's usually a lot of mad parties where you have to go dressed as a traffic light or something equally ridiculous  and also just normal going-out clothes; maybe nice dresses or tops that you can pair with skinny jeans and heels.
If you can get to a Primark, you'll probably find pretty much everything you need at budget prices - about half of my uni clothes probably come from there :D
GOD what an essay :o
another dress thread! sorry!

another dress thread! sorry!
help, help, help..
ive got ball type thing coming up in about 4 weeks...and franctly im majorly stressing about dresses! the dress code is black tie, however from asking people who have attended at last few years, as long as you look fairly smart a full on evening gown isnt essential....thank god!
second problem, i am a size 14/16 with quite a large chest. unfortunetly im also fairly skilled and dressing myself to lok thinner, but i cant seem to find dresses that achevie the same affect..and i dont really want my friends to realise how fat i actually am :o
third problem, i have very pale skin and redish hair and blue eyes, and i seem to have huge problems with getting things that complement my hair colour....?
so could anyone help me? im completly lost and panicing...any sites, pictures, ideas,or shops would be great..thank you so much (in advance)
sorry for the long post :o
Answer:
I can't advise on colours, being at the other end of the skin colour spectrum, but I just wanted to say, have you thought about wearing a skirt and top rather than dress? I find that makes things a bit easier, it's hard to find dresses that fit perfectly, much less so to find a skirt and a top (also much more versatile in the long run).
Have you tried the usual places, like Coast and Monsoon? Anything catch your eye in terms of colour or style?
Answer:
hmm, yea i was thinking a top and skirt...tried coast, liked a couple of things but nothing caught my eye. as for monsoon..ive looked there too and i have to say i didnt see anything i liked! must be too fussy...
Answer:
I've got the same sort of event coming up in 3 weeks' time, and I'm stressing about what to wear! At the moment I'm waiting for a skirt to be delivered, but in the meantime, just to be on the safe side in case I don't find anything else, I've bought a black fit and flare heavyweight satin skirt from Coast - have already got a black satin bustier, so will wear with killer heels, diamante choker and hair in a side pony tail. Wearing the two black items together make it look like a dress too, so you can hardly tell the difference.
nazneen is quite right - I have problems getting dresses to fit me - when you think about it, they're one piece of material that's got to fit your whole body - you've got more chance with a skirt and top.
Hey, doesn't matter what your size is - you'll look great and your colouring sounds quite striking.
Go have another look in Coast, Debenhams - you'll find something I'm sure!
Answer:
no, I agree, I didn't like anything I saw in Monsoon.
Is there a dress agency in your town? because you can buy things from agencies as well as hire, and there would be less chance of lots of other people turning up in the same dress.
Netti found a lovely skirt on the Warehouse site - they have some dresses and skirts on there that are really striking and could really be glammed up no end!
Also, Oasis and Debenhams (the Designers section can have nice stuff) are worth a shot. There are lots of sequinned and embellished skirts in Miss Selfridge, Topshop etc. that, if teamed with the right top, heels, jewels and shawl, would look very ball like.
Don't want to wear a rugby shirt...
NO.4. ask :
Don't want to wear a rugby shirt...
...am going to a rugby game at Twickers soon - thing is, we're making a day of it and will no doubt end up in a bar somewhere! :yay: Funny as it sounds, I feel uncomfortable if I'm dressed too casually - do you reckon I'd get away with wearing a shirt dress and cropped jeans (weather permitting of course), or should I just dress down?
I don't want to look overdressed when everyone else will probably be in rugby shirts.
Now I feel silly :o for even asking the question, but I'd value your opinions...!
Thanks...!
Answer:
You don't have to wear a rugby shirt! They don't suit most women anyway. As long as you wear something sensible/casual (what you described sounds perfect), you'll be fine. Just steer clear of tottering high heels and short skirts. ;)
Answer:
Damn, and I was thinking of wearing my denim mini and thigh high boots...!!  Nah, of course I wasn't... thanks for the reassurance cadbury - I want to feel casual but smart, but not like I'm at a fashion show!
Cheers!
Answer:
I went to twickers to watch the Zurich prem final a couple of weeks ago and I wore...
topshop irredesecent sequin bolero,
zebra type hm vest top,
diesel jeans,
indian khussa shoes,
and a pash!
:)
I don't think it really matters, don't worry about being overdressed, just go in what you feel comfortable in.
I feel the same too, with the too casual thing, and flat shoes, bah, but you know, you have to make sacrifices sometimes! ;)
Answer:
Too true, Lady! Your outfit sounded nice!
Choc brown shirt dress and cropped jeans/jeans rolled up it is then, or maybe a white shirt with the same jeans and a wide belt... Hmm...
Thanks for your reply!
Which skirt?
NO.5. ask :
Which skirt?
No I know this stuff may not be everyones cup of tea, but I cannot decide which skirt. In August I am going to my partners Dad's wedding and I have decided what top to wear, which I already have (In the colours shown) Top
But I have narrowed the skirt down to two choices, one is a mini skirt, but I've asked for it to be made more pencil skirt length and thats fine, its here. Skirt 1 . I want it in black with purple net, the purples the colour of the tops body.
The other skirt is this one, Skirt 2 . I like it just the way its shown.
My other choice is a black silk bustier and skirt, but you can just see between the lacing on the bustier, so i don't think its a good idea.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Tani
Answer:
i prefer the second one out of the two I think. I like the lace up detail.
Answer:
I like skirt 1 best, especially if it's pencil skirt length.
Answer:
Yeah I thought the ribbon would match the ribbon on the top nicely.
Tani
Answer:
Definately skirt two - it'll look fab with that top. What will you wear on your feet? Pointy stilletto boots will look great.
