Woah I'm going to Ibiza!

NO.1. Ask :
Woah I'm going to Ibiza!
I'm going to Ibiza on the 1st July:yay: and really need some help packing, any ideas on what to take etc?
Last year i went over my baggage allowance and had to pay the exta and i really can't afford to do that this year!
So your help would be much appreciated!:)
Answer:
 I've got that bloody song in my head now, thanks! :p
If you go over your baggage limit coming back after you've bought stuff, take cheap vest tops (Primark and Peacocks ones etc) that you can leave behind. The same goes for shoes - that's what I do!
If you are over going, use a smallish holdall and put your shoes/toiletries in it and stow it in the overhead locker. If anyone you know has one of the small cases that you can take onboard (like the air hostesses use) they are fab. I've never been asked to weigh my carry on luggage before, so I use this trick every time :D
Answer:
Lady V, me too! I go on the 17th June for 4 days. Can't wait...
I've pulled out ready to pack:
short denim skirt
shortish white gypsy style skirt
Chili Pepper cotton dress with mad patterns across it
Various vest tops
Few going out tops
Birkenstocks x 2
Cowboy boots
That's it so far...where are you staying? I'm staying at the Es Vive in Figuretas.
Answer:
Its allocation on arrival but i know it will be in San Antonio, have you been before?
Theres just too many things i want to take i really need to narrow it down?
Answer:
I go most years and am going in sept for a weekend and will probably make it for space closing in oct...
Ibiza is fun. I know es vive - bit of a party place, quite a good bar.
Just take bikini's kaftans etc for the day, clubbing gear for the evening, a few smartish outfits if you are going to go out to the restaurants/bars in ibiza town and most importantly, lots of huge sunglasses..
There are loads of great restaurants - elephant in san rafael, bambuddhe grove, and some great beaches - playa aguas blancas near benirras, salinas for the partying at sa trinxa, etc.
Pacha is fab, so is Space and DC10. Re bars, there's Warhol, Base bar (which is a bit of an ibizan institution), KM5.
Hire a car to see the best of it (esp if you are in Sam Antonio).
Also there are great clothes shops in ibiza town, so if you take less, you can buy out there!
You will have a great time

TS Ollie cropped jeans and crochet shrug!
Was going to start two threads but thought it was a bit pointless...
Tried on some 'Ollie' cropped jeans in Topshop this evening, a bit lighter than the ones in the picture. Liked them because they were slim fitting and I liked the colour, just wasn't sure about the turn-up (think it looks a bit funny because they are such a slim fit?) I do want some cropped jeans with turn-ups but just wasn't convinced. But then saw a girl wearing them turned up a bit shorter, and they looked quite nice too. So... does anyone have these? What do people think of them?
Also, does anyone have this crochet shrug?
Saw someone with one in Oxford Circus last week, but was just at the front of the queue ready to pay and couldn't be bothered to go back round looking for one. It's sold out on the website, my local store doesn't have them and now I really want one! But not sure if I'm just remembering it as being nicer than it actually is? Any opinions?
    Ta x
    Answer:
    Anyone??
    Answer:
    Hi Karina,
I've got the TS Cropped jeans and are happy with them, you can dress them up with spikey heels and a evening top or dress them down with a tee and wedges.
The shrug is nice but I haven't seen it in there....
    ;)
    Answer:
I've got the gold shrug and absolutely love it!
    Answer:
They had the shrug at bluewater but a girl working there had the last one held for her!! she did try to order me one but they are out of stock completely! so would think you'll be lucky to get one now!

  • Fashion Magazines: Help or Hinderance?

    NO.3. ask :
    Fashion Magazines: Help or Hinderance?
(bear with me on this one…)
    Fashion Magazines
... do they help or hinder?
Every month I buy my fashion magazines religiously: Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour, Cosmo, Vogue... I read through them a few times, flicking through the pages to get to the fashion bits, then go back a few days later to read the articles.
They give me some good tips on which colour of eyeshadow I should use, what all the celebrities are doing with their hair nowadays, and where to get the latest pair of shoes. Their "must haves".
And I must have almost everything in the magazines. Their clothes are always gorgeous, their makeup always looks perfect for me, their hairstyles don't seem too hard to do... Wait... am I being a bit too naive here?
On looking at the magazines, there are so many pages of adverts and 'promotions'. Do I really need that jacket by Marc Jacobs? Do I even really like it?
    Are magazines ruining my originality?
My ability to think for myself, to colour co-ordinate independently?
Am I becoming co-dependent on a glossy 'made to fit into your here' magazine?
And what about when I disagree with the word of Glamour, or Vogue?
I mean, does Sienna Miller really embody the spirit of the spring/summer fashions? Am I unfashionable just thinking that she looks, well... plain?
What about when I disagree with the 'hot or not' rating system of celebrities? Maybe I think Halle Berry looks like a fool, and you've rated her a thumbs up. Does that make me uncool?
Maybe I don't want to wear a straw hat this summer... I hear it's 'in', but I just can't bring myself to put it on my head!
This leads me to believe that fashion magazines are a bit of both: helpful and hindering. You want to know what's 'in', but you don't want to look like everyone else. Therefore, what's the point of buying magazines?
    So...
Help me to make some sense out of my ramblings.
    Do you buy fashion magazines?
    Which ones do you buy?
Do you take their advice as gospel, or do you like to put your own twist on it?
    Are they worth the money?
Where else do you get your fashion advice from? here?
    Your friends? Your mother?
    Answer:
I'm certainly not the most fashionable of people but hey....
    Do you buy fashion magazines?
Not really, only if i'm really bored or ill. I read them when I'm in a waiting room.
    Which ones do you buy?
Cosmo normally, its not just fashion
Do you take their advice as gospel, or do you like to put your own twist on it?
I very rarely do, normally I only take there advice if it fits in with my style, rather than the other way around.
    Are they worth the money?
There a bit overpriced seeing how many ads there are in them (and how they rattle sometimes on about having to dress this way and ridicule anything else)
Where else do you get your fashion advice from? here?
Some of it I get from here, but I pick and choose what fits with me.
    Your friends? Your mother?
I ask my friends and my mum about what they think of an outfit, but most of my friends live in jeans and fade tees or pink, so my dress sense doesn't really match up. My mums got a pretty good judge of my style tho.
    Tani
    Answer:
    Do you buy fashion magazines?
Yes I do, mostly Elle and Grazia
Do you take their advice as gospel, or do you like to put your own twist on it?
Not at all, I rarely use them fir inspiration but read them out of interest/nosiness. I don't take everything on the fashion forum as gospel but like to nose into other peoples wardrobes, get inspiration and grab some bargains.
    Are they worth the money?
    Mmmm I suppose....
Where else do you get your fashion advice from? here?
here, people on the street, tv, slebs
    Your friends? Your mother?
Definitely not my mother, I admire what my friends wear a lot but wouldn't buy what they own, I would buy things that baggers have.
    Answer:
    Do you buy fashion magazines?
I only buy Company every month, sometimes buy others if something catches my eye
    Which ones do you buy?
    Company......occassionally B
Do you take their advice as gospel, or do you like to put your own twist on it?
Nope, like to think i'm not a total slave to what the fashion press say. I take some ideas from there and adapt them to my style/shape. Buy them more for inspiration.
    Are they worth the money?
I think Company is at £1.90 but it peeves me to shell out £2.50 or more for a lot of these mags.
Where else do you get your fashion advice from? here?
here mostly, nobody i know outside personally is really into fashion.
    Your friends? Your mother?
I sometime ask my mother's opinion on my outfits but don't listen to her all the time as she can be pretty set in her ways.
Definately ask my OH's opinion but wouldn't not wear something if i loved it and he hated it.
I trust one friend's opinion, she's totally straight and will say whether something is sh!te or not but most of my other friends are more interested in what label is on their clothing rather than what they look like!
    Answer:
    Do you buy fashion magazines?
Sometimes, but much less than I used to.
    Which ones do you buy?
I read any of them - B, New Woman, Elle, Marie Clarie, Glamour, etc - whatever grabs my fancy.
Do you take their advice as gospel, or do you like to put your own twist on it?
Definitely not - in fact I tend to ignore it, although I do sometimes find interesting looks or pics that I borrow and put my own twist on. A case in point is the safari thing - I saw a pic of a model with a safari jacket and a dress and have been cheerfully reinterpreting that in loads of different ways recently!
    Are they worth the money?
No! Unless there's a good freebie with it...
Where else do you get your fashion advice from? here?
here's great - I wouldn't have thought to try gauchos or shorts without the Bag. I get loads of ideas from baggers, as my wallet will testify :D
    Your friends? Your mother?
My mum, definitely, and my friends have inspired me in the past as well. My wee sister is great - whenever we see each other we're all over each other's wardrobes and coming up with new ways to wear stuff! I do ask mr g_k sometimes too and mostly he gives good (brutally honest) opinions. He very rarely hates something (I think it's happened twice), but when he does, I tend not to wear it if I'm out with him. If he objected more often, I might not be so accommodating...
