    O/T English speaking in Rome?
Hiya - am going to Rome in a couple of weeks (yes yes I know, I keep posting about it but I'm so excited and need to organise lots still!)... just wondered if anyone could tell me whether they speak much english there? Neither me nor the bloke speak a word of Italian so I just wondered whether I'd need a phrasebook/dictionary etc?
    Thanks, BB x
    Answer:
Don't worry - everyone speaks English and is very friendly. Have a lovely holiday! (am v jealous, I love Roma!)
    Answer:
We went a couple of years ago and everyone spoke English (except, bizarrely, our chauffeur who took us back to the wrong airport, despite me trying to keep telling him which one it was in my pigeon-Italian......:o )
    Answer:
You will find most people in hotels, bars and restaurants will have good basic English but it's helpful to know a little of the language such as please, thankyou, etc.
And you get great encouragement from the Romans when you attempt to speak their language.
If you're there for any length of time, you'll find yourself picking it up quite easily.
Enjoy your trip, i'm jealous, it's easily one of my favourite cities in the world

    Answer:
Hello, I just got back from Rome on Monday - its an absolutely fantastic place, you'll love it! Managed to get by on practically no Italian to our shame but most people speak very good English:)

    Tour T-shirts - a question
I went to see U2 last night at Manchester - bloody fantastic! anyhoo, what do you think of tour t-shirts? I didn't buy one as I didn't get anywhere near the stalls but they do some cool ladies fit ones....do we think they're naff or cool?
Obv to wear with jeans, or a funky skirt etc.....
    Answer:
    I like them!
    Answer:
They're certainly a lot more funky than they were in my yoof. On the whole they seem like overpriced tat to me but if you realy like the band then go for it. I've seen a lot of live music but have very few t-shirts. I have a Bob Marley Uprising tour t-shirt (yes I went) which is in my treasured possesions case as is the Blockheads one from the first gig I went too (in 1978) :o
    Answer:
Love em! They look so funky and can really make a statement! Especially when they're from a good band! However I'm still wary of men with Black Sabbath tees and long black metaller hair. They still look good though! xx

    Slightly O/T...Fashion casualty
As mentioned before, the leather band around the padlock of my Lush Paddington bag keeps sliding off. I finally got fed up yesterday and got out the superglue. Not only did i glue the band to the padlock, I glued MY FINGERS together!!!! :(
Spent ages frantically scrubbing my fingers with nailpolish remover (I Googled how to remove superglue from skin - you need acetone) but it wasn't working. Picking the glue was impossible and painful. Finally this morning when I was doing m olive oil cleansing routine, my fingers unstuck. Yay for olive oil!!! :yay: :yay:
    Answer:
Sweet mary jesus and the orphans!! that IS a fashion casualty, literally :D
olive oil's a great for-all remedy - i put it on ruby's head when she was a bubba to remove cradle cap! x
    Answer:
LOL... I thought that only happened in the movies!:p
    Answer:
    God bless Olive Oil

    Thanks
