Stella McCartney Sportswear

NO.1. Ask :
Stella McCartney Sportswear
What do you guys think of the designer's new sportswear range for Adidas?
I saw a spread in last week's Sunday Times and the collection now seems to be on the Adidas website.
This interests me for a couple of reasons....
The selling point seems to be that (according to Stella), women have to sacrifice their "style" when working out and that (somewhat spuriously I think) she cites herself as an example of someone who is not motivated to work out, because the available clothing is not attractive.
The actual look of the collection seems to be bog standard lycra/nylon - but in muddy pastels with added grecian twists, flaps and ribbons. Strangely enough, many of the items look deeply unflattering to me (see the photo below) - and those that are actually wearable are only wearable because they're basics (e.g. lycra leggings) but with added surface patterning.
I'm not even sure how functional they are. For example the gym top pictured below would be useless for me - for running it would flap about (and show the very necessary sports bra), for Pilates etc. it would produce annoying bumps between my back and the mat.
The retail prices, from my recollection are around £60 an item. Would anyone be tempted? Would wearing Stella motivate you to drag your buns to the gym? Is it just another pointless fad for the stick-thin? Would you pay £60 for a gym vest?
Answer:
i love Stellas stuff but this is just daft. I wear jogging pants and an old tshirt and sweat like billy-o. I couldn't give a monkeys what I look like.
This stuff is for rich socialites who don't eat and only go to the gym to pose.
Harumph.
Gosh - I didn't think I was that grumpy about it!
Answer:
I agree with kmcl and that top is totally unpractical! And as for her not being motivated to work out because work out gear is not attractive... please, how vain is that not to mention a pretty lame excuse for not exercising!
Answer:
Yipee, you've given yet another reason to hate the soured faced spoilt brat :D
Answer:
When you train you need clothing that wicks sweat away from your body, allows absolute freedom of movement, and has smooth lines so you can sit, lie, stand, roll around, whatever, without getting snagged or pressed-into. Ms McCartney's collection is a disaster according to those criteria. If women want to wear decent, interesting clothes while they're working out, they should try Casall, Sweaty Betty, USA Pro, and the like, and not buy into a self-congratulatory, self-promoting exercise like this. Of course, if you wear sprtswear as leisurewear (nice) then Stella's collection will be right up your street.

I have a brown fairly long halter neck top (from Topshop plaited tie neck baby doll style at the bottom), its not long enough to be a dress but would that look good over jeans with a chunky disc belt over the top then fashionable earrings etc.......!
    Answer:
    Re: Need help?
Sounds nice! Metallic accessories (belt or shoes) would look good too, I think.

I'm sure I saw some in either Topshop or Miss Selfridge (might even have been New Look!), but that might just be the voices in my head again
If you fancy going with your silver sandals, you could always pick up the silver by getting one of those metallic gold/bronze/silver weave belts.

I fit into my calf length boots, but need some direction now!
Was just about to throw my as-new beloved brown leather calf-length boots bought about 2 years ago, into the Oxfam bag when I tried them on and realised for the first time since my pregnancy (okay it was a while ago, no excuse), they fit. WOOHAAAYYY!
However, I no longer have anything fitting me that will go with them. Any budding Trinnys and Susannahs out there that want to help? I have a dark navy denim stretch skirt that skims my knees that might go, but is that a sin with brown boots? Should I be wearing knee length skirts with calf length boots anyway? Can anyone suggest a good skirt anywhere so I can wear the life out of it?
    Answer:
Re: I fit into my calf length boots, but need some direction now!
I wear dark (admittedly quite faded!) denim with brown boots, so if it is a complete no-no, at least you have company!
Opinion seems divided about calf length boots - I have a slouchy wedge-heeled suede pair and love them, because they somehow magically make my legs look longer and slimmer when worn with knee length skirts. This breaks all the rules about calf length boots, of course, since they're supposed to make your legs shorter and fatter...

    Answer:
I love dark brown boots and have just started wearing them with a kneenlength, stretch denim skirt. If this is a faux pas then Im along with you. The only thing I make sure is I am wearing dark brown/green or patterned tights. In fact anything other than black.
If you think it looks good , go with it. I also thought about a tweedy or brown cord skirt might be a good option as well

What are these boots known as?
Can anyone help? There was a style of boots in the shops a couple of months ago but now I can't to find them anywhere... but it would help if I knew what the style was known as!
Mid-knee high, usuall brown or tan, block heel 2-3 inches (like cowboy boots), round toe, little tabs at top, and a loose fit pull on. I know MS had them for £79 I think but I can't see them on the website. Have checked all the shoe sites I could think of but nothing.... I guess I'd describe them as 'cowboy-esque', minus the pointed toe and embroidery!
I really liked them at the timed and foolishly didn't get any, but I saw a girl in this style the other day and now they MUST be mine!!
    Any help hooogely appreciated!
    Answer:
    Are they these?
If so, they're Frye Campus boots :)
    Answer:
Nope, not those :( Girlier than that with a higher, slimmer heel that tapers towards the bottom, and a more pointed toe than that... kind of oval toed rather than round toed!
Thanks anyway, hopefully might narrow it for someone else!
    Answer:
Oooh i think i know the ones, MS riding boots?, think they're in the sale at the mo as well!

Just searched high and low for that picture in our here fashion forum, i remember there being much discussion about those and the fryes... I made my mum try on both of them :D
If it's not those then i'm stumped!
    Answer:
Loocee you're a star, that's exactly the type!! :D Are they deffo in the sale then? Couldn't find them online but will try and pop in at the weekend to check.
Anyone seen similar elsewhere if I can't get hold of any? Have seen a few on the Topshop website but none I like... not that I'm being particular or anything ;)

    opinions?
    Answer:
    Personally, I don't like it. Sorry ;)
    Answer:
I think it could go either way-if you wore it 70's style with flared jeans and boots it could look great!!
    Answer:
I dont like it either.. looks like a novelty Noel Edmonds style xmas sweater. You might go off it quite quickly?
    Answer:
    I really like it!
As lomie said, would like nice with jeans and tucked into boots.
