Yet another how about this thread...
When I was rummaging around in my ragbag recently I found a sizeable strip of lightweight pale grey tweed with little black streaks in it. I've been wondering what to do with it and settled on a simple pencil skirt, with a black ribbon trim to pick up on the black bits. This should just about be within my abilities, especially since I have a nice easy pattern to work from!
I don't think I've ever bought anything light grey before, and I'm not sure if a pencil skirt in that colour is going to work - do you think it'll be OK? I'd probably wear either black or pastel-y coloured shirts or jumpers with it; any suggestions for tights or boots, especially for pastel tops?
Cheers!

Answer:
I think it would be lovely with a light grey turtleneck sweater, normal black shoes and then maybe a gold bolero? Or a gold scarf? Or it could just be a white v-neck sweater with a blazer and a really bright broach. Or, maybe (i'm on a roll here!). With punky pointy boots a black blazer, white shirt, black tie and a tweed flat cap, and dangly earrings? I think that'd look really good. But I never wear pencil skirts, so not too much authority on the subject :(
That would liven it up by adding some metallic. Infact, Mulberry have made a gold roxy which is absolutely gorge!

I never really thought about edging it up like that; whenever I think of pencil skirts I always tend to think cute jumpers (although maybe I'd add in a funky bag and pointy boots to stop it looking too secretaryish). Metallic sounds like a definite possibility, although I think silver or lilac might look better with that shade of grey. Thanks very much for those suggestions though, they're well cool and non-obvious which is what I was after!

    Fit Club's Kim Mazelle's dress - where's it from???
OOOhhh I just love that wrap dress that Kim Mazelle wears on Sleb Fit Club. It's in shades of green and looks fab. The best thing about it though is the fact that it covers her GINORMOUS norks - something that I find few wrap dresses do. So does anyone know where it's from???

    Answer:
I'm in love with that dress as well. My god, she's got some boobs on her, hasn't she?
Strange how she weighs so much but she looks so firm and non wobbly. Four stone heavier than Julie Goodyear? Odd.
    Answer:
    who is Kim Mazelle?
    Answer:
A soul singer, was pretty big back in the 1980s. Can't remember her biggest hit though.

help needed to avoid fashion disaster!
    hello :) *waves nervously*
I haven't ventured into Fashion before but I could do with some advice from those with more fashion sense than me...
I've finally taken the plunge and bought myself some new boots, they are calf length (I think - a bit shorter than knee length anyway!) - trouble is I'm now having a dilemma about what to wear them with.
I can't find a pic of them on the net but they are kind of like these similar boots.... basically they are beige suede-like material with laces up the front and furry edges (not so much fur around the top as the ones in the link though).
I have also got a denim skirt, which is just above the knee - this one here... skirt
Firstly, do these two items go together or will I look like a right loon?
and secondly if they do go together is it a fashion no-no to wear tights with them? I hate my knees (and it's too cold for bare legs) but I don't want to look daft.
At the moment I have only worn the boots with my boot cut jeans - so you can only see the toes, which is a bit pointless!
    thanks :)

    Answer:
    Hey! :)
I think they will look good with the skirt- fab thing about denim is it goes with most neutral colours. I think it would be find to wear tights with them- though not black! I'd go for brown (maybe with a subtle pattern) and wear something brown on you top half too.
Other things to try with these- jeans tucked into them, 3/4 length jeans (though not to everyones taste I must admit!)
Hope that gives you some ideas! :yay: (<<so cute!)
    Answer:
Re: help needed to avoid fashion disaster!
    Welcome to the board, firstly!
As for your boots, I think they'll look fine with the denim skirt - as Lorri_B points out, denim will go with just about anything. Tights are absolutely fine with boots like that (and necessary in this weather!). You could try dark green or even deep purple/aubergine as well as brown ones if you felt like it - if you like, you can tie the colour in by adding some other item (such as a belt or scarf, perhaps) in the same colour.
Other options: cord skirts, knee-length tiered gypsy ones - I think you could wear them with pretty much anything casual.

Re: Re: help needed to avoid fashion disaster!
Maybe try cord or canvas skirts - any stiff fabric would look cool :)
    Answer:
    thanks everyone :)
I've bought some tights today - a chocolate brown pair and plum coloured pair so now I just have to have a crisis about what top to wear with it all

7 jeans how small is too small
I went in to Harvey Nicks today to try on and love the NYD bootcut jeans. They fit and shape perfectly. I know they do stretch out though and just need to know which size is best. I fit in the 28s very comfortably. They did not have 27s but I tried the 26 and they fit almost. By that I mean i could pull them up just but it was really hard to fasten the button.
Question is should I wait for the 27s or will the 26s stretch out to fit if I get them?
    Answer:
i think the general rule of thumb is buy the smallest you can fit into :) however the 26 do sound a tiny bit too small? its hard to judge until you see how the 27 fit.... when will the 27's come in? can you wait that long???:)
    Answer:
I thought I had found the perfect fit in, they were slightly tight. However be warned they stretch BIG TIME. I can now pull my jeans down without undoing the button or zip............which my b-friend loves! So my opinion is go with the smallest you can get into!
    Answer:
    they'll stretch!
    Answer:
Mine haven't stretched at all! They're the 2% Lycra ones- I think the 2% whatever-else-it-is ones are the ones that stretch, aren't they? Might be worth checking, as it would be a nightmare if you gave yourself kidney damage if they failed to stretch!
