How can I funk it up a bit....
Ok girls I need advice (and a bit of fashion inspiration please). I've spent the past 3 or 4 weeks completely revamping my wardrobe. The vast majority of my old stuff has been given to charity/dumped and I now have a whole new capsule wardrobe.
My style is quite classic and quite feminine with a touch of vintage thrown in; I don't really do patterns, I stick to colours that suit me (so no vivid yellows etc even if vogue insists that the 80's are back!) and anything designer is out as I don't have the money, I also avoid anything high fashion (I'm thinking ponchos, 80's gear such as legwarmers and rara skirts, uggs and anything that comes from Chavland).
I'm really happy with all the clothes, boots and bags I have now, just need a couple more pairs of shoes, but I think I need to funk it up a bit. I'm only 33 so I don't want to look like a 45 year old secretary (even though I am actually a personal assistant!!).
Have you got any ideas? They need to be pratical - I'm a working mum. Also, my budget is now virtually exhausted (until payday at least) so if it's cheap/on sale - I'm interested!
Thanks for all your help over the past few weeks by the way, you've been great!

Re: How can I funk it up a bit....
Mary Janes, round-toed T-bars and so on are usually good compromises between comfort and style. Topshop, Faith and Office are usually good places to find vintagey look round-toed shoes. I think they're likely to stay for a while as part of this continuing trend for smarter, softer-edged feminine dressing.
In a restrained or classic colour they can be worn equally with smart work skirts and trouser suits as well as more casual clothes. They can be dressed down well with denim, or worn as a nice touch to a pretty evening outfit. The only thing to bear in mind is that they are very feminine shoes - certainly not the type of thing to wear with a biker jacket and battered jeans say! I don't think I would wear them with the 'ethnic' look this season either, and probably not with anything too boho or casual, such as gypsy skirts, which just look better with chunky boots. This is a personal opinion though - no need to stick to it!
Cute pumps are a good option too - there are loads around at the moment. They're very versatile, although I personally wouldn't wear them with a suit!
Your wardrobe sounds as though Mary Janes would fit in well, but if you feel they're too girly, you could try pointy-toed flats or kitten heels (try the same websites).
Have fun choosing!

How important is having the fashion/designer label on clothes to you?
NO.3. ask :
How important is having the fashion/designer label on clothes to you?
Not at all for me.
Answer:
I used to think it was important - when I started University it came as a bit of a culture shock. It seemed most of the girls on my course either want to be TV presenters or models, and dressed to be noticed.
Now I don't care, and wear whatever I like :D I shop in Topshop, Primark, HM etc and do still mix a few designer pieces in, but nothing flashy or with any huge logos. I prefer good quality over designer names any day.
Answer:
I'll wear whatever from wherever, so long as I can carry it off. I don't wear 'blatant' logos though - other than on trainers I guess.
When I was aged 12-17-ish labels meant everything to me and I had loads of tops with labels emblazoned all over them, but my style is much more low-key now.
Answer:
Since I'm too poor to have a load of designer labels, it can't matter a whole lot, I've managed without them ! Really though, I look for quality rather than a designer name, and a lot of the time, just because things are designer, doesn't mean they're great quality. You don't always get what you pay for. Plus even if I had the money, there's not a chance I could ever justify paying some of the prices they charge, even for basic things. I mean, £95+ for a cotton t-shirt ? I don't think so.
Answer:
Again, I couldn't really care. If some of my clothes are from primark, only I know, right? I'm not going to pay £10+ pounds for vest tops when I can get them for £2 in there...
Most of my stuff I wouldn't be able to find at designer's, like my band t-shirts, so I wouldn't have any need to shop there. Saying that I did buy designer lingerie yesterday, but that's only because it was 1/3 of the original price, I wouldn't have bought it full price. The only labels I 'endorse' are my band t-shirts, converse all stars and dunlop green flash.
I'm sure if I could afford designer I would buy it, but right now I can't and I won't get down in the dumps over it because I love my clothes.
Then again, anyone want to throw a Bayswater my way, I wouldn't complain :D
Squeal! Have you seen the mini Mulberry bags?

Squeal! Have you seen the mini Mulberry bags?
I think these are new, aren't they? Sorry if they're old news!
I was in Selfridges yesterday and they had the new season's Mulberry bags out (some really sweet summery colours like pale blue and white), and interspersed with them were mini versions of some of the more popular bags- there was a mini Bayswater for about £395, I think, and also a mini Roxanne for slightly more.
Now, personally I do prefer the bigger bags, but I thought I'd let you all know anyway as these ones are slightly more affordable and really rather cute! I had to resist the urge to rehome them all (except the gold ones).
Also, I noticed in the Kookai concession there that they do a really reasonable interpretation of the Roxy for anybody who's interested. I didn't check whether it was real leather or not (it looked like it), but design-wise I think it's better than the Vanilla one so it might be worth a look.
:)
Answer:
they aren't even on the website so they must be new :yay:

Yeah I saw that on Boxing day - I think it was £45 or so. I think it may well be real leather - wants to be for that price!
Answer:
The ones in Kookai are real leather and they are about £75. Very good quality actually. ;)

£75? Ooops my bad. It did look nice but I personally don't wanna get a Roxy lookalike. It's too baite. Everyone will know it's a fake and for such a well known bag I'd rather get the real thing. I'd give it a miss and get something more original for £75

Answer:
She looked so chavtistic compared to the two other girls..
Sarah Dunn aka Mandy loked really nice ..
(Although it's really difficult for me to say that, as I can't stand her character in H.Oaks)
Answer:
Can't believe I missed it - description please!
I hate the way the Hollyoaks' girls dress. Saw a pic of Jodie at some awards thing and she was wearing a see-through short lacy dress and you could see her wonderbra through it, circa 1990. Classy.
