woo hooo - go me - after years of hunting
i have found boots that fit my (apparently) chunky shins:D
i'm an average size 10/12 - not fat but have had untold troubles finding boots that will zip up with stopping the circulation in my legs. I was close to ordering custom made boots but i'd not really wear them often enough to justify that. Anyway, today, i'm in ASDA??:D - and there's these boots in the sale £30 (and they're leather) - so i think "what the heck" - they're perfect. In fact, they're almost baggy????;) Lovely pointy toe - decent height heel and zip up without giving me blood blisters. I'm a happy bunny - had visions of going out in Berlin next week in Uggs - but that's all behind me
whooooooooooooooooooooo:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
Answer:
Yay to you!!
I think some boot designers think that only super-skinny models will be wearing their designs. I'm a size 10 and bought a pair of boots from Debenhams' Normandie Keith range last year and there's no way I could wear them over jeans, unfortunately.
It's annoying isn't it?
Answer:
Well done....its so frustrating isn't it! I think I have found 2 pairs of boots in the last 10 years that I can zip uo...and I do not have larges calves at all!
(See my thread on Karen Millen boots)
Another pain with me is my feet are a size 3, and retailers seem to think the smaller your feets the smaller your legs! I often go up in foot size to make boots fit anyway else...
its soooo frustrating not to mention embarassing! SA look at you as if you are some sort of freak...:(

Shoe Storage?
NO.2. ask :
Shoe Storage?
Which is better to store shoes do you think?
These
Or
These
The first ones open at the end so you can pull your shoes out (quite nifty if they're all stacked on top of each other) but the second ones are cheaper for more boxes and more sturdy i would think.
Answer:
The second ones definitely look more sturdy but I find it much easier to use the hanging shelves you can get. They pack flat but open out all accordion-like into shelves so you can put a pair of shoes on each little shelf, and you hang them on a curtain pole or in your wardrobe. You can get them on ebay too I think.
Answer:
I'd go with the first option.
I have around 40 shoeboxes stacked and it's SUCH a nightmare to try and ever get a pair from the bottom.
The ones you hang in your wardrobe I had, and they're so poor quality, that it comes apart when u put shoes in them:rolleyes:
Answer:
I have the hanging storage things from Ikea think the quality is fine. But I do think the boxes would do a better job of protecting your shoes, although they'd take up more room...
Answer:
Those first ones look too flimsy and the second ones look like lunch boxes. Fussy bugger aren't I?
Lakeland do some good ones - I've got these:

What do you think of this shawl/ wrap?
Picture isn't very good. It's £20 in the French Connection sale, they had some similar ones in Gap too. I'm strangely drawn to it but it does seem a bit of a pointless item, also it's got a lot of mohair in it so would probably annoy me by covering all my clothes in wool... What do you think?
Answer:
Not really that keen - sorry - but that's maybe because shawls aren't really my thing. Also, mohair might annoy you, as you've already said.
Answer:
I like it,you could just wear it in the same way you would a scarf-on your shoulders, over a denim jacket for example. The only thing I dont like is mohair-its sooo annoying!!!
Answer:
I love those little shawl things -- but I wouldnt get it in mohair. I'm wearing a mohair jumper today and I'm bandying sellotape around like a madwoman :D

That made me laugh, FP!
I agree - I thick it could look nice, but if you get it in mohair, it'll drive you mad. I have a mohair beret, and it's unbelievably itchy - I'm going to have to line it!

Quick Question.....

Quick Question.....
 hey peeps
im going out 2nite for a meal and a few drinks for my OH mates bday...
I want to wear this dress, iv only worn it once with flesh coloured tights...but im not a fan of me legs, and just wondering do flesh coloured tights with this look stupid or would black leggings look better?? im a curvy 12-14 so dont wana look dumpy!!
Please help
Thanks
:D
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) sorry forgot to include the picture of the dress....
Answer:
IMO the dress doesn't quite work in that picture, I think thick black tights or leggings are too dark for that dress, and seems a bit of a cop-out wearing black too.
I'm not a big fan on nude tights, but if I had your dilemma I probably would.
Answer:
yeah i totally agree with the black tights thing, or how about just below the knee leggins? even different coloured leggins?? oooo, duno now
il be wearing heels with it....
Answer:
How about getting some of that instant tan/leg make up? Think Sally Hansen do it (spray) and Rimmel (cream). Whichever way if you're using it, mix it with some body moisturiser so it's easier to apply and doesn't look too orange! It washes off by the way.
Not sure if this is any help!
Anyone know where I can get...

A black tulle skirt?
Ballet type thingy maybe on a satin waistband.
If I can't find one I may have to dust off my sewing machine...
Minky
Answer:
How long? I am sure a friend of mine has one from Monsoon - it is just below the knee.
Answer:
maybe try a dancewear shop - have a look for one on www.yell.co.uk
Answer:
I am sure Ragamvffin posted a link to a gothic clothing website it had some... I will do a search for you..
ETA: sorry had a look it only seemed to have Tutu style skirts!
Answer:
HM definitely have some, I've seen some shortish ones and a knee-length one made up of different length pieces of tulle, think they're only about £15 too.
