Worst EVER fashion faux pas....

NO.1. Ask :
Worst EVER fashion faux pas....
.....mine had to be a lilac, crushed velvet skirt and turtle-neck combo teamed with block heeled white shoes. It was my fave 'going out' outfit for about 2 weeks when I was 17 (9 years ago)
How grim. I still cringe when I think about bounding round Manchester and that get-up. I am, of course MUCH more stylish now.
Come on, think long and hard and fess up!
Answer:
I still have nightmares about loads of fashion mistakes I made as a kid/early teen... too many to mention, but I blame my parents as I never chose or bought any of my clothes back then.
The worst that sticks in my mind had to be:
stonewashed black denim jeans (elasticated waist  ) with braces and neon picture patches
neon green black striped jumper with picture patch on the front
gola baseball boots (identical to converse, but cost me dad £2 from the market)
I think I might have been about 11 or so, but just the thought of it still makes me want to commit suicide.
Other fashion mistake items I can think of atm:
bodies - especially white ones
stonewash tapered jeans
german army parka - it didn't suit me then, but I probably wouldn't mind one now!
Answer:
My worst has to be nike high-top trainers with a lycra mini skirt when i was about 14. The worst thing is i dont think it was even a fashionable look at the time :o :o :o
Answer:
Stripy leggings with pink slouch socks, manky Nikes and my Norway Winter Olympics T-shirt. And a scrunchie in my hair. I was the coolest kid in school (I was about 11 at the time).
Answer:
OMG Yingers you just reminded me of bodies.
I had a manky white one with a scoop neck, I thought I looked so hot!!

  • Stupid Clothes Sizes Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh Complete Rant; Leytonstone Primark - urgent!; What to wear?; hello kitty; Tell me this isn't true!!!
  • Primark buys out Littlewoods!

    NO.2. ask :
    Primark buys out Littlewoods!
    From SkyNews this morning:
"Primark discount clothing chain owner Associated British Foods is buying out Littlewoods Stores for £409m, it has been announced...
... It will bring Primark to many towns and cities where it is currently not present"

Yippee! That means there might finally be a Primark in North Lancashire by the time I move there!!!
    Answer:
oooh, we have a littlewoods where i live so hopfeully thatll become one too!
On the down side it does mean that primark clothes will be EVERYWHERE!
    Answer:
My friend works in our local Littlewoods and ours is being turned into a Primark, She thinks it will be in a couple of months tho.
What part of Lancashire are you moving to?
    Answer:
I can't tell you how happy I am about this!! I usually have to travel about 12 miles to another town to our only primark. This will mean there will be one in our local shopping centre (which is still 7 miles away , but much easier to get to)
    :yay:
    Answer:

What part of Lancashire are you moving to?

    I'm not sure yet!
I'm from Morecambe and my parents still live there, but I live in Herts at the mo, we haven't decided on a specific town yet but we've set ourselves an area from Preston to Kendal to look for houses.
    Are you in Lancs Vickytoria?

    NO.3. ask :
    Leather jacket help please!
I'd really love a gorgeous leather jacket for winter!!
I don't want a bomber jacket as it's not really me tbh (much as I would LOVE one to just wear with my combats but I can't think what else I'd wear it with and can't justify it for one outfit!! I WISH!!)
I'd like something that's fitted, but not a blazer!!
AND I'd love something with some fur on it, or a sheepskin/lambskin one like on the dlux site !!
I've seen a gorge one in Karen Millen, but it's got a fur collar and cuffs (;) :p god I need to get out more  ) and they're not detachable  (and it's £350 and not going to be the best quality I wouldn't have thought...... )
    I LOVE this:
    http://www.dlux-ltd.co.uk/dlux_bout/content/p_03.html
and probably more practical but actually nearly perfect!!, this
    http://www.dlux-ltd.co.uk/dlux_clas/main.html
But wanted it a tad shorter. fitted into the waist and finishing just below the belt line. (and I want to be able to try it on which you can't do from this site :( )
Something pretty classic, rather than really trendy, iyswim!!
    ANY ideas oh wise ones?????!!!!
    THANKS!!

    Answer:
    help!
I love the jacket you have posted - it looks so 'snug' - I'd defo go for that one if I were you.
I have a lamb leather jacket which I got from the US with a fur trim on - must admit keeps me warm. It is fitted too - and a good price (think it was about $280).
This is a decent one from J Couture - but at $800 a little overpriced I think - anyway, it might inspitre you!
    (good luck)
    Answer:
Is this the one you were linking to? If it is, I LOVE it! It's gorgeous.
What do you want to pay? If you're looking at paying £350 for the Karen Millen one, and don't like it, then you should get the DLux one, pay the extra, and you'll be really happy with it then.
    Answer:
    agree
I agree with Kate|_Liverpool - worth paying a little more - particularly on a coat - you'll get lots of wear from it and you not regret it I don't think.
Everything on that Dlux site is lovely
    Answer:
    Thanks girls!!
I've just realised that the second piccie doesn't come up properly
The one that I Really like is the second row from the left, in the middle.
BUT I also like the very bottom left square one, but really wanted it in leather (although sheepskin would be cool too!!)
Just wanted to see if there was anywhere that anyone knew of where I could actually try them on rather than order them online :(
But everything on that dlux site is divine isn't it............;)

    NO.4. ask :
What do you thinkof this top?
Topshop website, Fashion Tops Smart, top row, 4th from end.
Pointelle knit cami with Double straps.
What do you guys think? I need a simple yet smartish cami I can jazz up with beads and accessories ... it's for a a school reunion.
I am thinking black beads and oterh black accessories with black peep toes and shorts/ cropped trews. what do you think?
Thanks girls I trust your opinions. :)
    Answer:
I like the shape, it's a good twist on the classic cami and would look great with accessories. I'm not sure on the colour though, it says silver but it looks quite grey, suspect it may well be nicer colour IRL.
    Answer:
I really like it, silver or grey it will look fab with the outfit you suggested :)
    Answer:
I like it - I think it will look really good with the outfit you described.
    Answer:

Just thought I'd post a pic for more people to see!
  • Slightly OT- Shrinking Jeans!; do any of you know a coach company that travels to Whitby from Mcr; Anyone seen this dress IRL?; Did anyone see the Clothes Show yesterday??; Principles sizing??
  • Peep toes in Winter?

    NO.5. ask :
    Peep toes in Winter?
I was just wondering what people thought about peep-toes in Winter.
I bought some lovely ones in the Office sale yesterday, and I was commenting to the SA that it was a shame there was so little summer left to wear them. She said that it would be fine to wear tights with them, but I'm really not sure that it wouldn't look a bit Grannyish.
    What do you think?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sparkliness xx
    Answer:
Yep I think this look is great for the winter, but I can only imagine them as high-heeled and not flat peep-toes.
To avoid the granny look, make sure the shoes are lush:
    http://www.faith.co.uk/catalogue/sty...style=49 0234
They would look great with a brown skirt, shirt for a chic tailored look....far from granny style!
    Answer:
I always wear them in winter, they look nice with tights. If you don't dare to wear colourful tights, the black ones always look elegant!
