Jeans - do they all have a gaping waist?

NO.1. Ask :
Jeans - do they all have a gaping waist?
I desperately need some new jeans which need to be a 28/29" leg so this narrows down my choice considerably
Every single pair that I have tried on have a huge gaping waist and you can see right down the back of them  I really don't know what to do? Where am I going wrong, I just want a basic bootleg jean and I'm happy to have a small gape, but not this much as a belt wouldn't even help to stop my knickers being exposed to the world!
Any ideas for size 14 curvy figures (with a 28/29" leg) bootleg? As usual, I'm on a budget and I have about £30 - £35 to spend (preferably less).

Answer:
Hi
Give Uniqlo a try.
I'm a curvy size 12 and always found it hard to find jeans that fit round the hips and waist until I went there. They come in several lengths so you should be able to find the right one for you. I can't remember the exact price but seem to think they were around the £30 mark. They also do a variety of different styles and colours so try to take as many pairs into the changing room as you can until you find your perfect fit!

Answer:
I think you just need to try a heck of a lot on. I find that jeans with lycra are better for my curvy figure. Also look for styles that have a higher rise in the back. Try places like Dorothy Perkins (they do jeans in three different lengths) and Oasis (they do at least two lengths). If you find a pair that fit you around the waist but are too long, it is worth considering getting them hemmed. I also have jeans of different lengths to wear with heels and flats.
Answer:
You're not the only one. I ALWAYS have this problem - made particularly annoying my the fact they often look great from the front, just huge gape at the back!
Miss 60s fit me well as do Levis Patty Annes
Answer:
this always happens to me to - a pair of jeans can have a HUGE gap at the back but barely fasten at the front! why is that? I tried Miss Sixty today and they don't fit me either....

what to wear with my new shrug
    Hi all
    Thank crunchie it's Friday :-)
I bought this oriental style shrug from warehouse which i love.
Has anyone any inspiration as to what to wear with it??
My thinking is to keep the outfit quite plain as the shrug kinda does all the talking.
    thanks guys

    Answer:
As its quite ornate, I think I'd team it with a basic white vest and dark jeans for a casual evening outfit - its quite a statement piece! Very nice though :)
    Answer:
I have a longer chinese style top in that same red colour, and i find it very hard to match with anything! I'm on the lookout for a black skirt in some kind of silky/flowy material - maybe the same would work with your top, perhaps with a plain black vest. Otherwise, perhaps you could wear it over a black dress? Like ohara says, i'd keep the rest of your outfit simple :)

Breeches, knickerbockers and other short velvet trousers...
I think someone has released my inner Principal Boy this season as I'm lusting after a pair of velvet knickerbockers.
The problem is, I haven't seen any. Toosh mentioned some cropped velvet trousers here ages ago and apart from that I tried on some tweedy look polyester knickerbockers with a proper tie at the knee on holiday but decided I didn't like the fabric.
So has anyone seen such a thing? Preferably black, but dark purple, bottle green or at a pinch midnight blue might be suitable too. I'm looking for a length that hovers around the knee or just below, so *not* shorts or ordinary cropped trousers.
And do you think that worn with long boots or/ sparkly tights and heels it would look too panto for the odd Christmas party (I really don't fancy buying a frock at the mo, and I'm bored of jeans).
Thank you kindly for reading my very specific request....
    Answer:
I know a lady who makes velvet clothes, one of her designs are peddle pushers, and she does bespoke designs too. She does them in loads of colours too.
    here
They're called 'Broomstick starters and they are under trousers, or micellania.

    Answer:
Thanks Tani, I hadn't thought of Goth wear. They're not quite what I was looking for as I don't want anything clingy or in crushed velvet - I was thinking of the classic cuffed shape.
    But thank you anyway.
    Answer:
I have no idea, but I saw a woman wearing bottle green ones today and I want some.
I should have asked her where she'd got them from really, but was too busy stuffing the remainder of a lemon cake into my mouth.
    xx
    Answer:
Nooooo Small Girl, put that cake down and follow her. The cake will still be there later!
