Went in to the O'Connell St. branch in Dublin today and was going to go for a round-neck jumper and a teal faux-fur shrug, but instead I got the black wool cape and the black pleated skirt with the cream and silver pattern. The cape is lovely; I think the collar is particularly gorgeous, it's a nice length and I like that it has those sort of half-sleeves. And a good price, at €40. The skirt is really pretty too, and will look gorgeous with a fine black jumper and black knee-high boots. And a bargain at €18! Much better buys than my original choices :)

My mum had a security tag left on her top before, she just got a knife and picked it. Careful though, I'm sure some security tags have got ink in them.

Apparently you can hacksaw security tags off (according to a colleague, don't know if it works with all tags though) but you do run the risk of damaging your jacket. I wouldn't risk it TBH.

As long as it's not an ink one, maybe you could take it into another store that uses security tags and see if they can remove it for you? Though the ones in HM aren't round are they? Maybe that's a really crap suggestion! I bought a skirt somewhere once before and they left the tag on and it was an ink one, so i couldn't wear it til i'd got it removed at the shop, so aggravating, especially as i'd bought it specially to wear for my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend!
