FAO those with THAT Miss Selfridge dress
NO.2. ask :
FAO those with THAT Miss Selfridge dress
Ok, i've managed to get the dress in black. Only problem is, it's so low cut at both the front and back. Are you all going bra-less in it? Or do you go for a quirky look of having your bra showing? I'm not really confident without a bra, so any suggestions would be greatfully received!
Answer:
I'm sure someone (was it Bibbity?) posted a pic which showed it with a vest worn underneath. It looked great!
g_k
Answer:
Yup - twas me, and I'll post the pic below.
It does look pretty good braless (which is suprising considering my lack of boobage!), but I wore it with a navy vest under for warmth and it looked fine I think. Looks a bit dodgy in the pic cos I had my buttonhole in my strap once I took my cropped cardy off.
Have also tried a grey top and gold, both of which looked fine (but obviously yours is black, not taupe...).
I haven't tried it with a bra on show, give it a go - might look quirky? I don't know. I can't imagine it looking too good thought tbh.
Answer:
Cor, I've just noticed my bra's on show in the pic too! :o
Sorry!!
but in my defence I did have a 3 year old crawling all over me (hence teeny podgy arm in pic!) :D
Answer:
Thanks bibbity, i thought it would look good with a vest under too, but my b/f ants me to wear it on its own sometimes too and i'm not sure i could do it braless, at least not without sticky tape, I'm worried that would ruin the dress though, because it is delicate fabric. I'm also thinking of trying one of those stick on bras, though i'm not convinced. I want to find a solution though or I may just sent the dress back. The size 8 didn't show quite so much bra, but i couldn't get it off by myself so i'll have to stick to the size 10 which is obv. a bit looser around the top.
Will post pics later when i have more time.
What to wear?
NO.3. ask :
What to wear?
Here's another one for you all!!
Mr BB is taking me out tonight for our anniversary - we're going to a Thai restaurant and then out for drinks.
I'm really stuck for what to wear - I don't know how dressy this place is (but would like to make an effort - perhaps no jeans?!) and I don't want to look too overdressed when we go for drinks.
I don't have any heels here other than a pair of satin peep-toes that I was supposed to be saving to wear with my Galaxy dress for work xmas do  as I haven't gotten round to collecting my others from my mum's (I really should get my priorities straight!!).
I have black pumps, white pumps with silver butterfly embroidery, green brown trainers and flat brown boots.
I'm considering wearing my jersey pencil skirt, but which shoes, if any of them? Maybe I'll have to take a trip to my Mum's afterall!
And what on top?
The other thing is that it's completely FREEZING here right now - it's just had a sleet shower and thunderstorm.
So yes, any suggestions are welcome please. Anything, anything, anything!! All suggestions should be able to be adapted to fit things in my wardrobe.
Thanks!!
Answer:
Is the jersey pencil skirt the primark one? I'm loving mine! That would look lovely with the satin peep-toes (am assuming they're black?) with maybe a black victorian shirt if you have one?
Answer:
It is the Primark one, yup! Bargainous :)
The peep toes are black, but I'm thinking I might need tights (or stockings? ;) ) for warmth which would be a no-no with peeptoes.
I don't have a black victorian shirt, doh. I have a mauvey silk one, but that wouldn't go I don't think.
Some wardrobe queries.
NO.4. ask :
Some wardrobe queries.
I've been routing through my outfits trying to find some different combos of things I wear all the time.... can't you tell I'm bored - I knew I should have gone out tonight. :)
I bought a pair of brown suede heeled slouch boots about 2 months ago that I've worn a few times, but only with jeans tucked in and I'm getting a bit bored of them.
I'm trying to think of different outfits to wear with them. I've just tried them on with black tights, black mini skirt, black top and beige wrapover top. I'm not sure how it looks though. I still can't get my head around brown boots and black tights. Do you think brown boots and black tights look stupid?
The other problem is that my black mini is a summer skirt - it's pretty thin material. I want a black mini in a thicker fabric (maybe cord) that I can wear with the tights and the boots. Anyone seen any on their recent travels? Not too short - maybe about 12" or so.
Thanks guys!
eta: the boots are a light brown colour - not dark.
Answer:
In answer to the brown boots/black tights question - I think it can look great, done properly. You do have to be careful with the type of brown though - personally I don't think anything too dark works well, and some lighter colours can look funny too, depending on the tone.
I have some light-ish brown boots - it's a funny colour, almost exactly the colour of Green and Black's cocoa-powder dusted chocolate truffles!!! - which look great paired with black tights.
If you don't think the boots and black tights look right, how about different coloured tights - plum, deep green, etc - paired with a denim skirt, say? I should think most types of skirt would work with the type of boots you describe; I wear my suede slouchy boots with anything from denim minis to ultra-girly swirly flowered skirts or dresses.
Haven't seen any black cord minis, sorry, but it sounds like the kind of thing HM, New Look or Topshop might have.

Answer:
Thanks Geek Kitten. I've had a look around today, and bought a dark brown suede skirt from Bay Trading (of all places - haven't shopped there in about 10 years  ) It's got 3 kind of tiers. I think it works pretty well - am going to wear it to the cinema this evening anyway and see how I get on. I've left the lables inside though incase I change my mind :o
I also bought this dress from Dot Perkins, which looks great on - even if I do say so myself! and seems to go quite well with the boots
I've seen this skirt in **** which might go, but it's £70 so I'm just going to drool over it for a while... I'm budgeting this month!
What to wear for interview
NO.5. ask :
What to wear for interview
I've got an interview on Tuesday at the local assembly rooms. What should I wear? Its only bar work so I don't want to get too dressed up and smart but is it ok to wear jeans with heels do you think? what sort of top do you think? I'd appreciate others views on this. Thanks :)
Answer:
Couldn't someone give me some advice please? I've got my interview later and still not sure what to wear for it!
Answer:
hey,
I work in a bar, and would say jeans and heels should be fine... or else flats would be equally as appropriate. Would suggest maybe a simple fitted top, nothing too 'dressy' with it. Or else black trousers and aforementioned t-shirt/vesty type top maybe.
We have a uniform for where I work anyway so I don't have to fuss about with what to wear so I'm not entirely sure I'm afraid!
Basically just something smart but casual definately.
HTH?
Answer:
Thank you Lors! :)
Answer:
Is it just an interview? Or is there any chance at all you will be behind the bar training or serving customers... if so then DON'T wear heels! Your feet will hurt enough after 8 hours serving pints, never mind with heels aswell, Speaking from experience here! lol. I just wore jeans, flat ballet pumps, vest top and a nice necklace for my interview, but then again I work in a quite casual pub, it really depends on the type of place.
Good luck!
