Military style jackets
What do we think? Have seen a nice one in TopShop but am not sure!
Answer:
Well I'm loving military jackets right now!
I say yes to the jackets!
Answer:
I know that there are quite a few on here who have them/are getting them. They're supposed to be big this a/w but hopefully won't go the way of the poncho.
I think I'll be looking for some longer varieties in the military style this winter, as I've already got enough short jackets. :)
Answer:
I'm after a new one as I've worn my Oasis and Warehouse ones to death!
They're the perfect jacket to throw on with jeans for an everyday look.
Answer:
I like the one in Top Shop too but I plumped for one from Bay Trading in the end because I liked the frayed look to it.
I've also seen a lovely black one in New Look. More than one might be overkill though
Stretching leather shoes
NO.2. ask :
Stretching leather shoes
The white pointy flats from Dune that I won on Ebay for £8.00 (bargain) have just turned up and boy are they tight!
I know if I try and walk around in them as they are they'll blister the back of my heels (not a good look!).
What's the best way to get them stretched? What's the best method used at cobblers?
These shoes are perfect! I love em' but am not prepared to batter my feet for them!
ETA: I'm sat here in my PJs wearing them now and am contemplating going back to bed in them to try and stretch them out:o

Two things I did when I was in college and got my first pair of 8 hole docs was:
1 stuff them with damp newspaper for a few days
2 rub them with saddle soap (soften the leather
Worked on doc martens so should work for you.
Also, the first few times I wear a new pair of tightish shoes I use those Compeed anti friction pads - they're like triangular shaped pads of what resembles really really thick skin (so you don't notice them too much), and they just form a barrier between your skin and the shoes at any spots where you'd be likely to get a blister. So lets you loosen the shoes without cutting your feet.

Thanks for replying!
Will stuff some newspaper in them in a mo. I dunno where to get saddle soap from or those Compeed anti friction pads though
Answer:
Apparently you can get a spray for that

Saddle soap is something that they use for softening leather in general, I think my mum might have just gotten it from a shoemenders (though my uncle is a horse trainer so she could have gotten it there....)
Any of the girls who go horseriding should be able to tell you.
The compeed pads you'll get in most chemists. Some do them some don't, so just try around.
Guess what I've won...?!

A PRADA here!
I work in a travel agency, and a couple of weeks ago, a tour operator had a competition on. If you book a hol with them you get entered into a prize draw, and I won!
No idea what the bag is like yet, apart from the fact it's black. They're sending it to me recorded delivery so should have it within the next couple of days.
Can't wait.
Although, I've already decided that if I don't like it, it's going straight on ebay! :)

Cool! Well done you!

I KNOW!!!!! :yay:
Feels so much less guilty ridden when he says that :)
He's just accepted that I'm obsessed about shopping in the same way that he's obsessed about sport.
So I let him do his 'thing' and he lets me do mine  Whenever I bring him shopping and he gets antsy I always say 'DH - this is my sports. Learn to live with it as I have', and he just laughs and agrees
(somehow, spreading the guilt always makes these purchases seem less  :( :o  ........ ;) )

GOOD GOD NO!!!!! one of the ones from Ioffer. (see my thread from yesterday?) We're just buying a new house at the moment and moving out of our old one, so spending thousands on a here is NOT an option
I've never spent that much on something from the internet that there's a chance might never arrive
What skirt would suit my shape?
NO.5. ask :
What skirt would suit my shape?
I'd like to get some skirts for summer but I'm hopeless when it comes to finding clothing styles that suit my shape.
I've seen loads of pretty floaty skirts and I love the ones that tie at the waist. A couple of examples of the skirts I'd ideally wear -
You get the idea!
I guess I have an hourglass figure, my legs arent that bad (though I'd like to hide my thighs!) but I'm hardly a skinny jeans person. I'm a size 14/16. I just dont know if the kind of skirt I've pictured would look good on me, or if I would resemble a hippo.
I would love to find some pretty, flexible skirts for summer though. Any ideas? Thank you!
Answer:
Stick to A-line style and you'll be fine. Bias cut skirts tend to accentuate the areas you don't want them to!
Both of those skirts look great!
Answer:
Ooh, thanks for the fast reply!
I'm going to sound like a complete idiot here, but what sort of thing do you mean by bias cut skirts? (I know what bias means, just need examples or something!)
In winter I think pencil skirts look alright on me, but I dont think they'd be any good for summer. Sigh!
Answer:
Hey HS
I think that A line is flattering for most figures - it just skims everything! Careful not to get any kind of material that is in any way bulky - softer floatier material will fall better and not look like a big triangle! Oh and anything with stitched down pleats at the top is a no no - you know like A line but not flared from the waist - flared from about mid thigh.
Those two skirts are gorg - i want something in white like those myself.
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) Bias cut tend to be fitted on the hips/upper thigh and then flare out. I don;t know about other people, but they make my thighs and ass look the size of a house but whenever I wear A-line skirts people ask if I've lost weight.
