see these over the knee boots
these over the knee boots... would they look ridiculous on a short person (I'm just over 5'4, I'm 5'4.5 to be exact- that extra half inch is important!!). I am starting to really want a pair but I don't want it to look like I'm in my big sister's boots. Advice please girlies

    o/t where do you live?
Following on from the thread, 'do you bagger spot?', where I had to be honest and say I didn't because I don't think any baggers are in my area, :( I thought it would be interesting to see where everyone's from - I'm sure not everyone is as fashion central as London or Birmingham!
Sorry if this thread has been done before! As a uni student, I split my time between Kent and Staffs - neither renowned for their fashion-savyness but both are at least not far from London/Manchester, so I can still indulge in some major shopping sprees!
    so...where do you live?

my united nude's finally arrived :D
    I know they won't be to everyone's taste but what I'm really asking is;
I bought them in 'cherry tomato red' with the intention of dying the base navy/purple and spraying the top bands gold... now they're here, even tho as a rule I 'don't do red' I'm strangely warming to them!
I have few clothes that go with red shoes... (but it is one of my fave albums so maybe that's good enough reason to keep them this way :D )
to customise, or not to customise??
    Answer:
I'd say not - I think they're a cute colour as they are and they seem to suit your skin tone.
    Answer:
they seem to suit your skin tone.
Thanx tiny! Being a redhead, I never thought I could wear red
    Answer:
Leave them as they are! It took me a while to work out how they worked.... :o
    Answer:

fair play to you, and leave them as they are too

  • Vogue - anyone else thinks it's gone downhill?

    NO.4. ask :
Vogue - anyone else thinks it's gone downhill?
I received my Vogue subscription yesterday and apart from the A/W extra magazine I am not impressed at all. When I first started getting it the magazine was really thick and now it is thin so obviously it doesn't have as much substance as it used to. It doesn't seem to inspire me as much as it used to. Has anyone else found this, and what would you suggest as an alternative?
    Answer:
I am a complete magazine aholic and to be honest a lot of mags at the moment are pretty disappointing - too many similar articles and stuff. I've thought for a while Vogue is living on its reputation rather than anything else - the majority of issues are slimmer than what they were, no free gifts and a bit pricey for something which is predominantly ads - I still subscribe though! I also buy stuff like Elle, Instyle and Glamour which is also a conde naste mag. Check a few out but to be honest nothing overtly inspiring from anything at the moment!
    Answer:
It's not just Vogue that has gone down hill, it's lots of the other magazines. This month I've cancelled the subscriptions to my magazines as I was getting bored of them.
    Answer:
the august issue is always quite think because the september editions are huuuuuuuuuuge! i haven't had time to read my vogue for ages though
    Answer:
Think it just varies from issue to issue, wasn't that impressed with this month's Elle, thought it was a bit too denim obsessed - love my silver flip flops though! InStyle stands out as being consistently good in my opinion.

  • Am I being unreasonable?

    NO.5. ask :
    Am I being unreasonable?
    Ebay issue:
I bought a pair of hunter wellies, specifically for a camping trip next week ... I paid for the wellies the second after I won them, and lo and behold, yesterday (i.e next day delivery - should be happy with the prompt service, eh?) I received a small box in the post.
I was thinking: no way can wellies fit in there and at that point, wasn't expecting anythign else ... opened the box to see some (IMO hideous) chunky ankle boots inside. The post mark was from the place where the seller lives.
Emailed at 8am the again at 10pm yesterday and have only just got an email to say "sorry - mixed the labels up" Fine I thought, mistakes happen.
But then the seller went on to say - I'm gopign on Holiday for 2 weeks on Saturday, so I'll sort it out when I come back.
WHATTT??? NO return address given so I can get rid of those hideous boots, no offer of paying for the rreturn postage, no offer what so ever?
I realise that the seller has a life, and may have things to do before her holiday, but the agreement was that I'd get the boots by the weekend (ie type of postage paid etc) ... not for bank holiday august weekend!
I have asked for a refund an additinal postal cost of returning the wrong item: is that unreasonable?
    (sorry for the long rant)
    Answer:
nope, you are being perfectly reasonable. Its the seller's mistake and therefore the seller should fix it and bear the costs - the seller's not going on holiday until Saturday so still plenty of time to get them in the post to you !
also, by specifying when you wanted the boots and by paying special postage for urgent delivery you have made it a condition of the sale contract, which the seller has now breached - not that you want to get all legal on an ebay sale.
how have you paid ? paypal ? because you can complain to them and have them take up the chase for a refund on your behalf. if you get the refund then at worst you're left with some ugly boots and your refunded money and then its up to the seller to sort out some way to get her boots back.
    good luck !
    Answer:
    thank you elliecat.
Do you have a link as to where exactly I go for chasing refunds...? I am seething right now and seeing red (just had a scrap with mr Gi) so not very focussed.
    Thanks
    Answer:
sorry no. I had a problem with something I bought from a website and paid for via paypal and I just went to the paypal website and they have a complaints process all set up there.
    Answer:
thanks again ... I'm calming down now ... so should be able to find it.
