I'm so proud of myself!

I'm so proud of myself!
Talk about willpower...I took some boots back today because I knew I'm not going to wear them, they're not very *me*.
I then saw a purple pair of boots on ebay, which claimed to be vintage but I thought were too stiletto/pointed heel-y to be. They were still lovely. And cheap at a tenner.
But I can't afford...so I closed the window!
I'm so good. Now to find something to take my mind off the fact that the auction's nearly over....!!
Answer:

Answer:
Well done you!! I wish I had your willpower. Remember to treat yoruself with the pennies allow and let us know what you get
Answer:
The only reason I can't take anything back is because I havent brought anything for AGES! Well done though x
Answer:
Well done you :D I think i will use you as my inspiration.
I got some money Friday and it's nearly all gone
Luckily i had sold some stuff on ebay, sent some stuff back and should have a nice £75 cheque coming from greasy palm in the next few weeks:yay:

    NO.2. ask :
    What's with Figleaves packaging??
I ordered two identical Calvin Klein bras in different colours and a bikini from Figleaves last week, one of the bras was out of stock so was sent out separately. Anyway the first bra and bikini were sent out in a jiffy bag type thing which was fine. Then the second bra has arrived today in a shoebox!!! What's all that about? My bras aren't that big!!
    Answer:
Usually mine come wrapped in tissue in little slim boxes
    Answer:
It was wrapped in tissue paper but then just in a huge box, bit of a waste of a box I thought!
    Answer:
I once had a bra arrive from them in a box the size of a knee high boots shoes box. Madness.
    Answer:
Mine came in a shoe box too, Karina. Do you think it's some new packaging thing? They used to come in those annoying plastic bags that you have to use scissors to open.
My post lady wasn't best pleased about the bulk of it when I pointed it out. :o Serves her right, she's too bloody lazy to climb the stairs and knock on my door to give me my parcels, she always buzzes me to go down and get them (I live in a block of flats BTW). Bloody cheek! It's not my flippin job to deliver the post.
Sorry, went off on a tangent there :o

  • NYC holiday wardrobe needed

    NO.3. ask :
    NYC holiday wardrobe needed
Here's the dilemma: off to New York for five days in early October. I need a holiday wardrobe.
The biggest problem is footwear - as we'll be traipsing all over the city for hours I need something really comfy to wear on my feet but I can't think of anything comfy AND still quite stylish. I really don't want to go down the jeans-jumper-and-trainers look as I will feel like a lumbering, unstylish student (not a stylish, 37-year-old girl about town ).
Next problem is that the weather is a bit unpredictable in October. In theory it will be crisp, clear and sunny, but it might actually be rainy, cold and dull. I don't want to fill my suitcase with a million outfits but I need to take some warm-ish outer layer that isn't my winter coat (too bulky).
So there we go - a few ideas, please, to make me look like a stylish tourist but which will be warm enough/cool enough/comfy enough to deal with five days of dashing about the city.
    Answer:
Oh you lucky thing! I love NY, been a few times and mostly took along with me confortable but also city smart/sassy items.
Late Sept./Oct. is usually still quite mild and even if it rains all you have to do is wear a funky hat and you will be fine!
Regarding footwear, I would deft take a pair of havaianas (if it is still warm enough to wear outside as they are really confy, if not wear them as slippers at the hotel)...otherwise, either a pair of stylish runners or boots should it be cold... (check the weather a couple of days before departure!).
Funky jeans, cool tops and confy shoes/runners/boots for daywear
Smart tops for night which can be matched with either jeans, trousers or skirts
(take a lbd and a nice thick belt which can be mixed and matched to the different outfits)...
All this failling, you can always go shopping!!!
    ;)
    Answer:
Take nothing but a credit card and buy it all there.
    Answer:
I'm with pansymouse on that one!
I ended up wearing all my new clothes when I was there in April. Altho I would recommend bringing a pair of flat ballet style pumps for comfy walking about.
    Answer:
Ooh, you are leading me down the path into bankruptcy :)
Tempting, though, just to arrive with nothing other than five pairs of clean knickers and buy clothes once I'm there...

Birmingham city centre has been evacuated :(
The police have received information and have made several controlled explosions. Can hear all the helicopters and police now.
    Let's just hope it's some tw@t being a dumb @ss!
    Answer:
Probably just precautions, but hope you are fine *fingers crossed*
    Answer:
They better not blow up my bullring:D
I'm sure everything will be fine, just was shocked to see it on the news!
    Answer:
It looks as though it was just a false alarm - I can't believe people were complaining about being evacuated surely it is better to be safe than sorry! I get the impression this is going to become a common occurance again in this country :(
    Answer:
It was weird everyone was so calm and not complaining last night at all.
It's just people today saying the police over reacted but they had reason to believe an attack was going to take place at a certain time.
Can you imagine the uproar if something did go off and Birmingham asn't evacutated knowing they had information for them to be concerned. They can't win either way :meh:
