Just been reading this on Sky. What it says about not driving in flip flops makes sense but I'm not so sure about the rest!

FLIP FLOPS CAN BE KILLERS

Wearing trendy flip flops could kill you, according to new research.
The fashionable footwear - ideal for the beach in hot weather - are putting the lives of road users at risk.
Three in every four motorists have admitted they find it hard to drive in flip flops and road safety experts have warned that wearing the sandals in the car could be a lethal decision.
Researchers claim a flip flop, worn by millions, can easily get stuck under the pedals and cause a fatal accident, The Sun says.
Craig Martin, spokesman for Norwich Union who carried out the poll, told the newspaper: "Footwear such as flip flops are dangerous as the sole can get caught under a pedal.
"The absence of ankle support can lead to the foot slipping off the pedal altogether."
Leigh Purves, gossip columnist for the Daily Star, is among those to have had a close call while driving with designer flip flops.
She has told how, while travelling on the M1, her sandal got stuck under the brake pedal and she missed another car "by millimetres".
The Sun also says that German researchers revealed last year that 14 out of 25 pairs of flip flops they studied contained toxic chemicals known to lower sperm count in men and attack the liver, kidneys and reproductive organs.

  • Can anybody help with me with my holiday evening wear?

    NO.4. ask :
Can anybody help with me with my holiday evening wear?
I’m panicking a bit so help really, really is appreciated.
I’m off on holiday in just over a week and need some clothes for evening. We are off to Malta for 12 days (very resort holiday) and then Sicily for 5 (hiring a car and travelling around). We are planning to be partying every night so two little dresses and a pair of heels aren’t going to cut it.
For the day, I’m taking flippy skirts, denim minis, denim culottes, mini sundresses, t-shirt dresses and beachy kinds of things so I can’t really wear those at night.
I’m off shopping in about an hour so I could really use a bit of guidance on the type of thing to look for.
I have a few summer evening tops (halters and that kind of thing) I could wear so I suppose I’m looking for stuff for my bottom half. I don’t have proper going-out shoes either (sorry, this is the first girly holiday I’ve been on since I was 21).
I'd also really like to wear my new stuff into A/W (during the day, for example), because I'm not going to get much wear out of it otherwise.
I don’t want to look fabulous, I just want some decent outfits and ones that I could mix and match if possible.
For example, I thought maybe some city shorts as Mango are doing them for A/W, but then what shoes would go? I really wanted some wedges from the Miss Selfridge site but they probably haven’t arrived in Barcelona yet.
Can anybody help or am I a lost cause?
    Thanks
    xxx
    Answer:
    gauchos all the way!!
perfect for hols teamed with heels and little top, and you can wear them in a/w (well, im gona wear mine this a/w!!)
    Answer:
HM have some lovely chiffon dresses and skirts...they also have some cute black sundresses that can be carried to evening.
    Answer:
I have some berry gauchos but I won't be able to get any more before I go, I don't think. That's a good idea though, as they look smart but are really breezy :) and I just bought some new tops to go with them.
I have an HM near me so will have a look at those dresses, supercat. I prefer things that are quite fitted as I'm not very girly really. What sort of shoes would you wear with them? I'm a bit paranoid about my height and don't want to tower above everybody (I also can't walk in heels).
I wish Miss Selfridge delivered to Spain, they had some gold wedges I liked too. :(
Oh well! Thanks girls, I do appreciate it.

    Answer:
when I go away a take a couple of evening dresses (little cocktail numbers such as the dress in the "My Dress" thread) and then I take a black pencil skirt and a variety of tops to wear with that, including one of those black tanks tops with a bra built in and then a sparkly shawl or bolero to dress it up (or take it off if the place is not so dressy). i also take 2-3 pairs of heels that will go with a variety of the outfits, a black pair, a pale gold or camel snakeskin pair and then a coloured pair if I have room. if i can only take one I take the metallic since it will go with everything pretty much !
so - I would buy a pencil skirt, a pair of metallic strappy heels and some little dressy tops to wear with the skirt and some very simple tops and maybe a sparkly shawl or scark to dress it up. If I was going to a more funky destination I would buy some shorts to wear in the evening but the places you are going are more classic 'get dressed up in the evening' places than say, going to Barcelona or Ibiza or Rejkavik (sp ?).

    Answer:
I'm on the lookout for one of these and have been since they first come out about 2 months ago (and then swiftly disappeared!)
I'll get you one if I find any.
    Answer:
I brought one of those sequin vest at the weekend from the Romford branch. only had 2 or 3 left which instantly got snapped up after people saw me walking around with it :) they do come up a bit big as a warning. im normally a 12 and ive had to alter the straps.
problem is I dont have a clue how to wear it??? had a vest underneath it but it was too much of a different shape ... was thinking skinny jeans and gold shoes ... anyone else have any ideas.
    Answer:
thanks so much supercat! maybe a 10 will do if they are a bit big. im normally a 10 but i want it a bit big so i can wear a white racer vest underneath. i'd prefer a gold one, but a silver one would do fine! thanks again...
lozalove....as i just said im gona wear it with a white racer back vest and supertight jeans and killer heels! (if i ever get one, that is!!!)
