Stockings
Am I really alone in prefering stockings to tights even when the weather gets cold ? My friends think I'm mad :(
I prefer skirts to trousers but detest wearing tights so still wear stockings daily, holdups tend to cause a bit of irritation but I'm now beginning to think I'm alone in wearing suspenders for ordinary daytime wear.
Are suspender belts really seen as tarty these days and only for bedroom use as some of my friends try to suggest or does any one else wear them for regular daytime use as I do ?
Please tell me I'm not some freak at 34 yrs
Answer:
I bought a suspender belt some stockings recently cos I hate wearing tights too. I really like them but the belt seems to fall down easily cos it's stretchy and I can't wear them with skirts that are much above the knee cos the stocking tops show :o . I don't wear skirts much day to day but if I did I'd probably wear stockings rather than tights.
Anyway, I don't think you're a freak at all Cathy!
Answer:
It depends what type you go for, I suppose. I've never actually worn anything other than hold-ups stocking-wise, as I can't be arsed with the the faff!
But it's not as if you'll be wearing Ann Summers-style suspender belts in the office, so I don't see the problem. :meh:
Just wear what you feel comfortable in - you're the onnly one who'll know what's under there anyway! :)
Answer:
I don't tend to wear stockings and suspenders anywhere other than the bedroom;) mainly because they irritate the hell out of me because they keep sliding down!!!! It drives me mad! I did wear some not long ago under some long shorts and it was much better than tights as the tights would usually bunch up at the crotch under the shorts and there was none of this, but after an hour of wearing the stockings I had to keep running to the loo to pull them back up and got all nervous that everyone could see the tops, and it drove me mad!!
If you find them comfortable and they stay up then wear them, I would if I could get the fookers to stay up properly !!!
How do you get them to stay up out of curiosity?
Answer:
All last winter,I just wore hold ups (too lazy for the suspender belt stuff) and I much prefer them..normal tights remind me too much of school! This however, I haven't been on my normal shopping mission for them, so I'm mainly using tights, although soon as I've got some spare cash, will buy some more.
so no, don't think your alone out there!

What colour tights with maroon shoes?

What colour tights with maroon shoes?
Hi all,
Im wearing maroon jumper, black pencil skirt and new maroon shoes - and black tights?.....should i be wearing maroon tights or is this OTT?
Answer:
Black tights sounds good but maroon might look great also, either would be fine.
Answer:
I would say yes if you were wearing black shoes, but I think maroon tights and shoes might be too much in one area, iyswim. If you really want to wear coloured tights, maybe try a contrasting colour?
Now I'm changing my mind... hmmm - try it on and see! Sorry that was no help whatsoever
Answer:
If you don't want to look too 'fashiony' then I'd go with fine denier neutral/skin colour.
But probably best just to try all three to see which one looks the best.
:)
Answer:
Yep, I would go with neutral also.:cat:

Does anyone else use this site? For the last couple of days I haven't been able to view any posts.
Answer:
They have too many members and too many threads imo - they often have server problems because of that.
Answer:
For me, the 'server problems' message seems to come up at certain times (so far, around midnight and 8-9am) - so I think that Puddy is right, it's probably server overload.

Arrrgh my iron! Help me!
I accidently ironecd a pair of cheapo knickers last night instead of a top (I wasn't concentrating) and they stuck to my iron plate. I can't get the black marks off!!
What can I use to get rid of them? It's a new bloody iron and I can't iron my clothes til I get it sorted!!
Answer:
you can buy a stick thing from somehwere like John Lewis that will get it off the sole plate when its warm, dunno what they are properly called though!

Do you think woolies will do them? Am doing a bit of shopping today but staying local, going up West tomorrow.
Answer:
yes I should imagine so,it looks like a lipstick somewhat,or,I just checked my household cupboard, and I also have a cloth thing that is slightly abrasive that I got from BQ I think that you also rub over burnt bits and it rubs them off (also try Sainsburys etc)
Answer:
Thank you! Will check Sainsbury's, Woolies and Wilkinson's to see what I can find :)
Where can I find a coat like this?

I need your expertise, Fashion-baggers! At the height of parka-mania a few years ago I bought a lovely one in Oasis. It's sadly looking fairly worn by now and I'd love a new one, but I'm pretty particular about the details, and I haven't seen anything I like anywhere recently. I know they're not the height of fashion anymore, but I need something that will keep me both warm and dry in the winter. I'm in Dublin, but if you've seen a nice one elsewhere and can tell me the brand or where you saw it, I'd be very grateful!
Here are my demands: :)
- A good deep hood, preferably with a cosy lining and nice thick 'fur' around the outside
- Should be long - my Oasis one is knee length and perfect for rainy days
- Needs to fit well - I don't want something huge and bulky, I'd prefer it to be more fitted
- I like good pockets, zipped on the outside and an inside one would be nice
- Colours - I'm thinking navy, though a dark green would be nice too
- I want something that is good quality and will last well, so I don't mind spending good money on it
Thanks in advance for your help :)
Answer:
The only one I could find that was close to what you were after was from ASOS.COM but they are currently out of stock. it was called the Bench Lon g Microfibre Parka, as worn by Jessica Simpson. It is from their celebrity designer range but is only £90, which isn't bad for a long coat really.:cat:

Oh, that one does look nice - it might be a bit longer than what I want, and I wouldn't necessarily go for the fur-trimmed hem, but thanks for the idea :)
Answer:
No problem, I'll keep looking and if I spot anything else I'll shout up.:cat:
