    Dumb question re office wear
I'm a student (so used to dressing lazily :innocent: ) but I start a temp job tomorrow doing admin at a financial services company.
Can anyone advise on what's general office wear - do most women go for smart trousers and a shirt?
    Answer:
I used to just wear smart trousers and a smart/casual top. That was fine for office wear. Now I'm a building inspector though, I wear black jeans and a shirt to compensate! It's a pain ironing!
    Answer:
Lol took me a while to read your post lobble - that avatar is strangely hypnotizing
By smart/casual top do you mean like a cotton v-neck?
    Answer:
Until you gauge the dress code for the place play it safe with smart trousers, polished shoes/ boots and a well ironed shirt! Simple jewellery and make-up...
Always err on the side of caution- you can only make a first impression once!
    Answer:
I worked in an office over the summer and the rule was basically no denim, so any kind of fairly smart trousers or skirt with a top :)

    Most unlikely fashion inspiration ever...
A bit of silly Sunday afternoon fun - who's your unlikely fashion inspiration?
Mine is Sybil Fawlty!!! :cmeek: :faint: :hucks: :p :loopy:
I've been watching a few epsiodes of Fawlty Towers recently and have been going 'oh, I love those clothes' at an alarming rate!! I wouldn't necessarily wear them the same way as she does, I hasten to add, and nor would I aspire to the same hair and makeup, but some of her clothes are great, e.g.
-- Gorgeous black satin slim-fit (but not quite pencil) skirt
-- Cream and pink Mary Janes (Oasis had a near-identical pair two years ago, which I still regret not having bought)
-- Deep purple beautifully fitted jacket with a sort of Mandarin collar, darker purple braid down the front and a frog fastening
-- Soft mustardy yellow jumper with one of those wide 'frill' collar things; can't remember the proper name. It's a crap description, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it - it would look great with my new forties' style flared tweed skirt *sigh*.
Anyone else want to share funny style icons?

    NO.4. ask :
Mirror mirror on the wall, is this jacket "chav" at all?
I've just bought a lovely Armani jacket in the sale (half price! ) and I'm so hoping that puffa style jackets aren't chavvy.
It's a lilac grey colour, lined in pink, and has a knit underskirt (bit like a powder skirt on a ski jacket) and the actual jacket itself sits over that - a bit higher on the bum and then angles down at the front.
It's lovely and warm - shaped in at the waist and very plain.
But all of a sudden I'm having chav anxiety
Can't find anything on the website showing the garment....
I'm going to wear it anyway, but just like to know if I'm doing the chav thing so I can have the attitude to work the look!
    Minky :p
    Answer:
Take a pic and we'll tell you!!!
    Answer:
Hmmm sounds very erm *different*- unless of course, you are going skiing.
I thnk the only way to tell, is by seeing a picture :) :p
    Answer:
OK - will do a picture though probably not today.
Miss Sweetcheeks it IS different to your normal puffa style jacket (I have a black Hennes one) which is why I liked it.
Though as a mad keen skier I also have a ski jacket (and this one wouldn't cut it technically).
I really hope my taste isn't failing me!!!

*slinks off to take picture while Mr M bathes Lulah*
    Answer:
I am just never comfortable in a puffa jacket, as I always feel a slightly bit chav
I haven't got one, but my friend lend me one as I was off to Dubklin and had no warm maternity coat, and although it was plain black, I just felt a bit "rough" wearing it
But hey, you might look better than me in one:angel:

  • Why have online sales finished???

    NO.5. ask :
    Why have online sales finished???
Topshop and Miss Selfridge seemed to have ended their online sales- this seems really early considering it is not even mid Jan and that there are still sales on in their shops.
Anyone know why they have done this? Have they just run out of sale stock?
    Answer:
I know. It's a real pain isn't it. I had my eye on a lovely dress in Monsoon. In my local branch they had it reduced but had every size but mine so I thought I'd try online but the sale had already finished on there.
    Answer:
The stock goes really quickly. The topshop sale had been wittled down to the scraps and then most of the sizes were out of stock, same with Miss S.
    Answer:
Things really run out fast online - which imo is good because to me that is the sign of a good, genuine sale. Not never ending tat that seems to be in some of the shops for month - some of it from years ago.
