Expert FAMK Size Buying, Washing and Shrinking Advice Needed...

I could write pages and pages on "Sevens I have bought... and then had to sell" but I shall try to keep it concise.
I have an old pair of size 29 MNEs that I bought when I was half a stone overweight. I have (40 degree) washed and tumble-dried them and they have shrunk in all directions and now fit me perfectly in terms of length (I am 5'4" but want to wear them over heels) and fit (I am a size 10).
I bought a nice new smart pair of NYDs to wear in the evening and expected them to behave in the same way so I (40 degree) washed and tumble-dried them. The length shrunk by about an inch and a half (perfect!) but the fit did not shrink at all. They are still huge on me - pull right up to my waist and then slip right down again. I've worn and washed them on three miserable occasions before selling them for £75 to my (happy) size 12 friend.
Right. On with the next! I want to buy a new pair of smart dark jeans to wear out in the evening. My thoughts are as follows:
I will buy size 28 NYDs (which fit me perfectly when I try them on in the shop) wash them on 40 degrees and tumble them once to shrink the length up a bit and thereafter have them drycleaned to keep them the same size going forward.
Any thoughts?....

I'm confused! Can't you just buy the right size in the first place and if they are too long just have then altered at the dry cleaners?

I've always washed all my jeans - never had a pair dry-cleaned in my life. Because my MNEs shrunk when I washed them, I thought I needed to buy the next pair of FAMKs slightly large to allow for some shrinkage. The MNEs that I bought shrunk in all directions but the NYDs only shrunk in length...
I just wondered if anyone else had any stories/opinions/advice on FAMKs size-buying/washing/shrinking...

I've always washed my FAMKS too and yes they are a bit tight when you put them on but that's not shrinking, that's just like all jeans when you first get them on. I wouldn't tumble them. Just buy the correct size, maybe wash them on a delicate wash and let them dry naturally and you should be fine ;)

Oh they are fab sandals...but they seem a little snug....your toes are nearly hanging over and your heel is backed right to the edge of the sandal.
I'd go a size up hon....but gorgeous:)

I would be tempted to go up half a size if you can - do they do half sizes? You look like you're getting a bit of toe-overhang already - imagine how they will feel after wearing them for a couple of hours.

had a quick visit to dune last night..... to look at the last of the sale.......esp with 20% off.
I wanted flats for my hols..../travelling.
NONE of teh size 8s fitted.. my feet are a proper 41 which is really a good 7.5!!!! If you've got big feet stay away from Dune.
I may have to follow Caramels example and shop at New Look!!!

I love the fact they came up small. I'm a size 5.5 and most shops dont do half sizes, so size 6 Dune shoes fit me perfectly.

Just wandered into my local Peacocks (skanky area but good branch) and they had some fantastic capes for 25 quid! They were wool, slightly longer than bracelet length sleeves but not quite full length, with a proper "shirt" collar and buttons up the front.
Its very much like the one CIC recently got from Great Plains or DP's (cant remember?) but not as long in the body and no tie belt. Fully lined they come in charcoal grey or black. I have a seriously bad headache so didnt stop to try one on and now of course I'm sitting here kicking myself because we all know they'll be gone tomorrow.
For 25 quid I wanted to post even though I havent got a piccie - in case someone is currently looking for a bargain.

I was in Peacocks yesterday and didn't see them but then I was looking for the sequin belts (they didn't have them either:rolleyes: ).
