Black Platforms - Matalan
Just wanted to say in case anyone was on the lookout - Matalan has some bargain black suedey platforms - I think they were fifteen pound? They are closed toe, but unfortuently had an ankle strap :boohoo: which is a big no no for my legs :(
I took a pic of them (sad, I know!) but I haven't worked out how to load photos from my phone onto my comp yet :uzzle:
Anyway, just wanted to let you know!
Answer:
Were they similar to these?
Answer:
hmm, not really. They are like a closed toe, with an ankle strap - quite a big platfrom as well - kind of like this shape I think!
Answer:
Oh of course, duh, sorry, you said they had an ankle strap
Well, if you didn't want an ankle strap my local had those for (I think) £18!
what do you buy off ebay?
NO.2. ask :
what do you buy off ebay?
just wondered what other baggers bought off ebay? i have bought purses, bags and jewellery but never clothes or shoes. dont know why. think its mainly cos i cant be arsed searching through all the crap!
Answer:
Everything! Shoes, bags, clothes (lots of clothes) jewellery, make up, golf clubs (for my Dad), books, CD's, DVD's, stuff for my dog, you name it I've bought it!
Answer:
I second that! I bought a Frank Sidebottom mug just now, but I know what you mean about trawling through the crap... I have a sinking feeling my mug is not officially endorsed by the bard of Timperley!
I'm kidding, I know what you mean. It's a nightmare to find authentic things if you're going upmarket on brands too but there are some beautiful vintage pieces on there! It does take practice to get an eye for some things. Sometimes I'll bid on something that could be promising but for whatever reason haven't got many bids. These might include bad or no photos, weak description, misspelt words so they aren't called up in search results etc.
If I love these things, then bonus, if I don't, I take better pictures and I'm more attentive to my descriptions and sell on for a profit!
Answer:
I've only ever bought one thing off ebay! Can't quite imagine buying clothes or shoes, as I always want to try things on first and also see/feel the quality. I don't really even buy anything mail order unless I already know it will fit and know what the quality is like... Gawd, I sound like some repressed ebay virgin here!:o
Answer:
I've bought clothes before but it's obviously no returns and half the time the quality is rubbish or it doesnt fit properly.
It's just not worth it, you can't beat trying things on first! :(
Erin O'Conner scares me ...
NO.3. ask :
Erin O'Conner scares me ...
..especially in that new MS ad when she's standing really weirdly and has her back arched. She reminds me of Angelica Houston when she starred in The Witches (love that film!)
Just an observation :o
Answer:
she scares me too Cx, I saw her interviewed once and she comes across as so lovely but I just can't help but find her scary. She's elegant but in a witchy way! Still, she's got the last laugh, she's rolllllling in it!
Answer:
She's elegant but in a witchy way!
Yeah, spot on!
Answer:
I really like her. She's not conventionally pretty but still rather striking, statuesque and elegant. I remember some series about models a couple of years ago and she was the only one who came across really well.
Answer:
I know what you mean!
I have a friend who looks like Nicole Kidman but is even prettier IMO and is 6ft1. She's really goofy and the loveliest person but for ages when I first met her I was terrified of her because she was over a foot taller than me and sooo beautiful!
Then I saw her comedy-dancing (better than Cameron Diaz) and I was a bit less intimidated of her ;)
Baggy - without looking like a bag lady!

Baggy - without looking like a bag lady!
Hi all
I'm after some advice for my holiday wardrobe from you fashion gurus.
I'm going to egypt and jordan, and am not just going to the really tourist areas.
I've read that the best advice is to dress conservatively so as not to offend/be letched at! However I'm worried I'm going to look like a big sack of spuds!
I'm a size 12-14 (more 12 than 14) but fairly curvy (34D on top, thunder thighs below!). I do have a well defined waist so usually if I wear baggy/wide leg trousers I wear a fitted top, or at least something that is fitted to the waist. I've tried on some tunic tops with wide leg trousers and I think it makes me look 2 stone heavier.
Has anyone got any ideas for my holiday wardrobe? I've got some practical clothes (fat face sahara dune trousers etc) for day time activities (some of the holiday is quite active) but I'd like some nicer outfits for evening times.
So criteria are cool/loose clothing which covers legs and arms/shoulders but won't make me look huge. Any ideas folks?
Answer:
how about kaftans? i live in them on hols...i got a fab antik batik one last summer
Answer:
I think you're doing the right thing with the wide leg trousers and fitted top, the tunic with the wide leg I agree would be too much...
I've been to both places (non touristy also) and I think it's right to stay fairly covered up... how about a few pairs of linen wide leg trousers - these from next are quite nice, with a vest and maybe a wrap top....
Or a long skirt and top....
Answer:
O/T I can't take my eyes of that black model's nose. It doesn't match her face
Answer:
I love that orangey wrap top - is it Next? I've bought a white wrap to from HM so glad I am on right track!
I also spotted those trousers in Next Directory - may have to order!
I worry about linen as it creases like buggery...

Well Ladies after steadfastly refusing to shop there because my local is so choc full of tat I have finally embraced the world of Primar:yay:
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these gold ballet pumps for only 8pounds:eek: :yay:
I also picked up two plain vest tops for only 4.50 which is alot better value than 6pounds for a TS one! I can only hope this is the start of many more bargains to come:)

And so it begins... Welcome to the dark side! Mwhahaha...
Answer:
Nice pumps! :)
Answer:
Thanks sadie!
I have to say its the first time I have ever bought anything from there and I'm most impressed with the quality. My local Primark always seemed to be choc full of tat until now, they've finally got rid of all the gypsy skirts and got some decent stock in:yay:
Also seen some nice brown pinstripe shorts but stopped myself from buying them as I'm already running out of money this month!

Liking those shoesies! Must go and see if they have them down in my local Primark!
