    Favourite jeans!
Am feeling proud of myself that yesterday I managed to fit into the TS jeans I bought as a student in 1998, after nearly chucking them out last year as I thought I'd never fit in them again.
I used to force myself into these jeans (and get blood blisters sitting down - eek! - from the creases), and the zip started to get looser and looser. I thought this was just my fat belly pushing it out though...
Only now, I'm wearing the jeans and the zip keeps working its way down. They're not as flattering as they were as they're actually slightly loose now, but I still really like the cut and length. Yesterday I used a safety pin, but it's an arse to go to the loo and looks daft! So...the short question is...is there any way to sort the zip without replacing it entirely?

Surely that can't be good scrobble:eek:
Not even a nice pair of jeans is worth that amount of pain!

    Answer:
This is what I did when my fave jeans zip kept going downwards.
Take a small keyring and put in round the zip pull.
Zip the jeans up, put keyring around the button, and botton the jeans.
That way they stay up, and you can't see the keyring, if it's a fairly small one.
That tip is the best tip I've been given- it means I can wear my fave jeans forever ;)
    Answer:
Another way is to pull it up and pin it fast with a tiny safety pin. It's a faff to take it out when you go to the loo though. The keyring way is best though.
    Answer:
Erm yeah, blood blisters weren't great, but the fit was fantastic!
Thanks very much for the tip Miss Sweetcheeks, sounds like a real winner. Will have to now dig out an old keyring and see if it works its magic!

    shopping reccs for my mum
    hello all,
My lovely mum's coming to visit me in London for a weekend soon and wants to go on a shopping trip to revamp her wardrobe a bit.
She's 56, size 14 and just under 5ft, and would be looking for stylish, good quality clothes - dressing for her age but in a chic way! Nothing too frumpy! I was thinking along the lines of nice wrap dresses etc (but am v open to suggestions).
Do any of you stylish ladies have any good recommendations for shops? I thought we could hit a nice dept store, maybe Fenwicks or House of Fraser, but if anyone can suggest any particular shops or to head for specific concessions, that would be a great help. It doesn't have to be super cheap - she'd be happy to pay more than high st prices for the right pieces, but nothing ridiculously expensive please.
thanks for your help. I'm an expert on TS and the like, but that's no good here!

    Answer:
I would suggest Debenhams. They've got a fantastic selection of clothes for all ages, and they're at decent prices.
    You can't go wrong!
If you don't have it already, here's the link so you can have a look in advance!
    Answer:
What about trying Monsoon? I know it's sometimes quite formal, but they often have lovely things to suit all ages.
Laura Ashley might also be worth looking in and i've seen a new shop called Mandolin which (from the window) looks like "mature" fashion.
I hope it goes well :yay:
    Answer:
My mum loves Laura Ashley (it's not just flowery dresses anymore), Monsoon and East.
She also loves Liberty - especially the jewellery section!
    Answer:
    I'd try:
    - Minuet
    - Anne Brooks Petite
    - Principles Petite
    - Country Casuals Petite
    - Eastex
    - Jaeger Petite
    - Precis Petite
    - Viyella
    - Wallis Petite
    - Next Petite
Most of the above have concessions in places like Debenhams, House of Fraser and Selfridges.
