US shoe sizes
I am a bit confused. I had thought that US shoe sizing was the UK size +2, but NAP says it is +3. I am watching a few things on Ebay, and worried now that they won't fit (I could just measure my feet but don't have a tape measure).
Thanks!
Answer:
I always buy US 9 and I wear UK 6 (Eur 39)
Answer:
It depends on the brand. I'm a 10 in Marc Jacobs, Stuart Weitzman, 40.5 in Manolo, Gina and Jimmy Choo, 39.5 or 40 in Prada and Miu Miu and a UK size 7.
I've found NAP to be very accurate with their sizing. Hope that helps.
Answer:
I always go 2.5 sizes.
Vintage tends to come up a bit smaller I think too, but it's a bit hit and miss
I'm UK5 and buy a US7.5
Answer:
Hi LizzieB
I usually go 1 1/2 to 2 sizes up, have never gone 3 up though?!
I am a uk 4 and usually get a us 5.5, alot of the conversion charts say 2 1/2 sizes up though?

Orthotics - recommendations needed
NO.2. ask :
Orthotics - recommendations needed
Some of you will know that the whole reason I joined here in the first place was to ask about a weird problem I had where all my shoes kept breaking for no reason, and I mean breaking after a couple of weeks or even a couple of days. I was advised by several people (not all heregers) to get orthotics - in case anyone doesn't know what orthotics are, they are a kind of insole thing you put inside your shoes, which make your feet tilt differently and/or give arch support.
Two GP's, two podiatrists, an osteopath, two bespoke shoemakers, three pairs of orthotics and several hundred pounds later, I am fed up. My shoes have stopped breaking, which is a good thing. But since wearing orthotics I've developed all sorts of other problems including my knees and legs constantly aching. The trouble is that there are so many kinds of orthotics, I've had my current ones looked at by a few people who've said they are crap for various reasons and that I need to get a different pair made, which obviously costs a lot of money. I am fed up because I get a different opinion every time, and it's hard to know who's genuinely telling the truth and who's just trying to make a sale. I was fine before I ever started this whole business, and now I can't even walk properly.
So what I would really appreciate is if anyone could recommend somewhere to get some good orthotics made in London. Not a podiatrist or medical person but the actual place that makes them, be it a shoemaker or somewhere else. What should I look for in the manufacturing process to know if it's being made properly?
I am going to an orthopaedic specialist later in the week, but in the meantime I would really appreciate advice from anyone who actually wears orthotics and doesn't have problems with them.
Answer:
I can't help I'm afraid but I can imagine how annoying it is. Have you tried posting this in health on the offchance that a medical person bags and may have some recs?
Answer:
Hi there
I am sorry you are having such problems. Believe it or not I am a journalist on a medical magazine and also a fashion footwear mag so I can help I think. There is this place in Guildford, Surrey, called FEET FIRST. They have all experts there to help. I haven't got the number to hand but if you pm me I can find it for you. Hope it isn't too far away for you to go. I can send you other details if you like.
Answer:
Hello! I got some made to measure end of last year. PM me and I'll give you the number (its harley street)
(They'll cost you about £250)

Since they have changed their site, I can't get on it, as it says that my browser cannot read javascript. I have been in the tools bit at the top of the page and in to the security bit and it says that scripts are enabled. Does anybody know how to make it work? Thanks.
Answer:

Answer:
I use Internet Explorer 6. I have never had any trouble before on these types of sites. I am totally baffled
Answer:
I'm having the same problem but no idea how to get round it...
Answer:
Why do they make their websites so complicated? Do they not want people to go on and buy things?:( I can't understand what is wrong. It says to get a new version of my browser, but Internet Explorer 6 is the newest one. I am very confused.

What Not To Wear - the books
I didn't realise there were so many versions until I just did an internet seach for the best price!
Can anyone recommend one of them? I just want to know what sort of colours and shapes will suit me.
Thanks.:)
Answer:

Answer:
Hi!
I only have two: What not to wear (mustardy cover) which is ok but the suggestions look a bit dated in it, nowadays...and the second What not to wear 2: for every occasion, which again is ok.
They are cool books to have a look at when bored and quick read...but most tips would be given during their programmes or in most mags such as InStyle... :)
Answer:
I have all of the books and also the very first one they did, which is now sadly out of print.
If I was going to recommend any, I would say get these two -
What Not To Wear (first book, which kind of has a yellowy colour front - if you ignore the clothes and just concentrate on the shapes and styles they advise)
WNTW - What Your Clothes Say About You (silver cover - this is the one PV recommended and I agree with everything she said!)

Answer:
I agree with PV, the silver hardback one does colours and stuff and is quite good.
Also the orignal mustardy one is great for the basics of what neckline and shapes to wear to suit your figure and is the best IMO.
The WNTW 2 one is OK, and more about what to wear for different situations ie a 'back to work after a baby' interview. Some of the outfits, especially the winter wedding one I think look ridiculous IMO though.
MS - glad I avoided the new one, I had a feeling it couldn't be anything new.
