Another fur victory!
I just heard some great news - J-Crew (think Country Casuals Stateside) has agreed to pull fur from its clothing lines forever!
You can find out more here
:yay:
But what do you guys think? Is this the result of high-profile boycotting and negative publicity or are people beginning to agree that fur, if it has to stick around, should not be sold on the high street? I see very little if any at all on British high streets but in America a bit of Chinese dog trim is much more widely available.
Anyway, it's good news!
Answer:
I quite like fur actually.
Answer:
Well, I think it's tremendous news and I know a lot of others will agree.
Answer:
I agree Hack. And about time, too.
Answer:
Coming out of lurking to have my say - what is the difference between fur and leather? I agree its good news but you dont get persecuted for wearing leather yet you do for wearing fur - I dont get that logic.
Straightening Hairdryer

Straightening Hairdryer
1 Attachment(s) im thikin of buyin a babyliss BEliss which claims to straighten your hair as it drys it.
anyone got one?
do you actually think this will work?
Answer:
cool idea, haven't seen that before, if it works I might get one!!
Anyone got any comments on it
PhotoC
Answer:
it looks like it would work...but I'd be a bit worried about having my hair so close to the hairdryer - if its normal heat then that will quickly frazzle your hair. Also, you'd still need to finish the ends off properly with a brush and, it looks like you could only fit a thin section of hair in the brush....so if you have a lot of hair (like me:( ) you could be there for ages !
Answer:
to be honest i think it will be pants!
If you want a really really good hairdryer go to Toni And guy and buy a trade hairdryer from them for £25.
Powerful and great and you will have straight hair!
Answer:
I don't think it would work either.
I can imagine my hair getting horribly tangled in the brush.
Perhaps OT but does anyone have a catalogue account?
NO.3. ask :
Perhaps OT but does anyone have a catalogue account?
Hey all!
Have been thinking about getting a catalogue account, perhaps with Additions after seeing their gorge shoes! But probably could do with being talked out of it... The only credit I've got is a Topshop card that I took out 2 years ago. Have £230 on the balance and can't even remember what I spent that on - of course, now no longer easily seduced/18 years old I realise that 29% is a horrific interest rate and makes not knowing what I spent the credit on even more depressing.
Trouble is, I am having that sense of foggy eyed-ness all over again! :(
Answer:
I can't get credit anywhere (was turned down for an additions account :( ) but i do have an lxdirect account.
They do charge ridiculous interest but quite often have deals on. For example i have bought a camcorder but used the code for buy now pay september. So i've just been paying off so much each month and will finish paying by september so i get 0% interest :)
Answer:
ooh, nice thinking CiC! I don't have too much of a problem for credit (but we're not talking platinum AmEx here!) but I am a bit wary. I think it was just cause I was so upset the Additions code didn't work! It'll only make me tempted to keep going back. I feel like that bird on the Debt Free Direct ad nibbling little bits of corn - a store card here, a credit card there...
I soooo watch too much daytime TV. Hope they solve my epilepsy soon and get me back to work!
I really shouldn't... Am trying to save to buy somewhere with Mr Hack within the next 5 years!! Ooh, that reminds me, did I hear you're moving or something CiC?
Answer:
I'd apply for one if you know you would be strict with yourself but not otherwise as it's just too tempting! The whole 'it's not real money' saga! Most catalogues give you 20 weeks interest free to pay items off :)
Not moving yet! Next year sometime Mr CiC and i are buying a house or a city apartment. He still has about 6 grand of debt to pay off (car and credit card)which should be paid off the middle of this year and then we are saving for furniture etc for approx 10 months.
He was so terrible with money but i've been helping him and he's gone from being around 11 grand in debt to where he is now:yay: So house buying here we come:yay:
Sorry slight essay :o
Answer:
I have a Next a/c and went a bit mad last year ..stupid me! Still paying it off
I have no self-control and having my limit put up every 2 months or so really didn't help!
how many shoes?
NO.4. ask :
how many shoes?
apologies if this has been posted before but...
how many pairs of shoes do you own? new bf thinks my shoe purchasing habit is hilarious and that i have far too many pairs. I would say i prob have about 20 pairs (incl boots and flip flops), tho prob 8 of those pairs have been bought in the last month.
Please could everyone confirm that they actually have way more pairs than this and i need to in fact buy more!
Answer:
Answer:
And here to see them all
Answer:
108 and I just ordered 3 pairs, so 111 when they arrive. My finger slipped though, they were just conveniently in my size.

OT but a cautionary reminder girls!
NO.5. ask :
OT but a cautionary reminder girls!
Always, if you don't already, save your paperwork and receipts!
I have had a nightmare over the last two days. I cancelled my gym membership 5 months ago and yesterday got a call from a really nasty debt collecting agency person demanding payment. The gym had lost my gym cancellation forms and were chasing me for the last 5 months' worth of payment! The guy was so horrid that after the phone call I burst into tears, he was really intimidating and threatened "to bother me every day until I payed up".
But I dug out my copy of the form - remarkable I still had it because I've moved house since then. The gym actually sounded shocked that I had the copy - I think they were hoping to get the money off me. If I hadn't kept it I'd be so screwed right now!
I know it's totally OT but I just wanted to let everyone know - it seems a hassle to keep everything but on the odd occasion things go wrong it's the only way to be protected.
Answer:
You are so right!
It took me 2 phonecalls and 3 emails just to get some confirmation that my gym had cancelled mine - they were appalling.
BTW - it wasn't Fitness First was it?!
Answer:
No, it was LA Fitness. I think all gym companies try to pull this though - OH has had the same thing with his old gym Holmes Place, and his sister was charged for a whole year at her old gym without realising.
Answer:
Poor Nazneen! Thats terrible and no one should intimidate you!
Thanks for the advice and likewise I have recently realised that one needs to really keep most receipts and documents as you never know when you may be asked for them!
Thanks for the tip though and glad you had the doc this horrible man was looking for! ;)
Answer:
What a nasty thing to happen! I would write a strong letter of complaint to the gym and say you'll complain to watchdog or something like that (I get very indignant about thse things, especially with poor treatment)
Yes, i keep copies of everything - it's part of my legal training to gather/keep evidence "cos u never know".... and when i give instructions by letter i always ask for written acknowledgment.
