Where to shop tomorrow?

NO.1. Ask :
Where to shop tomorrow?
I'm planning on going shopping tomorrow but can't decide whether to go to Birmingham or Nottingham from Derby. Has Primark in Birmingham got anything decent in, particularly in the furry boots department, or should I just go to Nottingham and go to HM there. Although, thinking about it, there aren't that many good shops in Nottingham are there?
Part of me is thinking Birmingham so I can look around the Bull Ring and Selfridges but I want a cheap shopping trip and know it won't be if I end up in Selfridges!
Answer:
Primark in Birmingham is quite possibly the most hideous shopping experience you could imagine - unless you get there for 9 in the morning.
Then again ANY shop in Brum will probably be heaving tomorrow - unbearable by about 10.30 I should think. Having said that, the shops on the whole are better than Derby and cake and coffee opportunities are MUCH better!!!
Answer:
I love shopping in Birmingham!
I have only been into the Primark once but I thought it was fine. It will be busy but the staff will be bringing out new stock throughout the day so you shouldn't miss out. The Bullring centre is great- it has everything! Although I haven't ever been to Nottingham to compare.
Have fun though wherever you go! :)
Answer:
Birmingham was heaving today in the aftenoon. Lots of boots in primark and the mo!

    Wide trousers
    Helllooooo again,
I am currently digging the wide-trouser look, especially this one for work:
What kind of jacket would you wear with this kind of outfit? I was thinking ballet flats for feet (I think she's got trainers on).

    Answer:
I wear my wide trousers with a long tight jumper dress over them cinched in with a wide waist belt. I wear high stiletto heels / boots with them - mainly because I want the trews as long as possible to increase the dramatic effect.
Its a look I have received loads of compliments on.
When I wear a jacket I've either worn a very fitted jacket that comes to just on the hip bone or a cropped boxy jacket. The boxy jacket looks especially good because of the jumper dress - the layered effect works well.
I could wear the trousers with flats...but I'm just not a flat shoe kind of girl:p .
Regardless of the shoes I think the wide flowiness of the trousers needs to be balanced out with a tight top so a fitted jacket, preferably zipped rather than buttoned, looks good. The trousers also look really good accessorised with a baker boy cap - but I'd wear heels for that look to avoid looking like a 1940's newspaper boy !
    Answer:
I love wearing my wide legged trews with fitted polonecks, blazers etc.
Agree with Elliecat about keeping the top half fitted.
The jumper dress idea is fab - I'll be trying that next week! :)
    Answer:
Thanks girls, maybe a fitted blazer would be good then? I'll have a look around. I want to keep it fairly casual but your outfit idea does sound lovely elliecat - I might save it for a special occasion!!
I agree that fitted tops look nicest with these kind of trouser. Ok, thanks a million for the ideas, I'll have a look around now to see what I can find.

    Rubbish service!!!
Am really annoyed - I posted this on Daddyos thread but people prob won't see it there.
I ordered 3 dresses from daddyos.com in jan - the order was confirmed by them on 12th of Jan. I emailed them 2 days ago as I hadn't received anything yet and I got this!!!
"Your order has not been shipped but is is being processed. We are waiting for verification from your bank on the billing and credit card information. They would not anser our inquiry on the telephone, we had to fax our request. I wouldn't think that it would take much longer. I do apologize for your wait."
I confirmed the order on 12th Jan!!!
Is this normal? I've never had this off any other website I've ordered off!!
    Am considering cancelling completely.

    Answer:

    :(
    Answer:
very strange, unless your credit card information was slightly incorrect, or your bank has not released the money I dont see why they are messing around.
I would give them a call, chatting to someone direct often helps

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? :)
I'd like a thin one in navy / black / red to wear over smartish work shirts. I've even resorted to looking in the kids sections. :o
I would also like a wide one, but I've only seen plastic ones which I'm not fond of.
    Thanks if you can help

    Answer:
There's a patent leather belt at next that i think is meant for the hips but i'm just going to buy a size smaller.
    Here it is (top)

    It's 7cm width and £12.99
    Answer:
    - see my YSL belt copy thread;) . This look is still around for the S/S so there must still be plenty in the shops ?? They just might be coming in lighter or brighter colours now.
CIC - not sure if that is a picture of the one I bought - which looks identical to the YSL belt - so that might be another one whcih is meant for hips ?
    Answer:
Thanks a lot ladies. Looks good. :great: Shall pop down to Next later today or tomorrow.

    Answer:

    Curvy Midget needs help!
Hope you can help, Ive just had my entire wardrobe out (its dwindled lately) and realised nothing looks right on me anymore.
I am 5'1" size 14 and curvy (hourglass-ish if you will) I am in my early 30's and totally clueless about what to wear :o
I work from home, but I am tired of slobbing around in tracksuits, I need some smart casual stuff but have no clue where to start, I could also do with some nice going out stuff. I favour a more classic look I am pale with red hair so have to be careful on colours too.
Can anyone advise this clueless woman what to look for thats 'in' and classy and reasonably priced?
    All suggestions gratefully received :knees:
    Answer:
Are you me? ;) You do sound like me, but I'm a little bit taller. Have a look at my style diary - it's mostly casual but I do have some of my work stuff on there too. Link is in my sig.
I think you need to build a capsule wardrobe with things you can mix and match. Start with the basics - pairs of well fitting trousers and basic skirts that can be dressed up or down - try Great Plains http://www.greatplains.co.uk/ - try to get a nice fabric - cotton for summer and wool or wool mix for winter. Don't get cheap man-made fibres - they won't look very nice after a couple of wears.
Then get a few tops to mix and match - long sleeved v-neck tshirts for a casual look, crisp shirts, a couple of knits.
    Answer:
You should go for more tailored stuff as it will show off your shape. I'm 5ft and 10/12 but curvey and tend to wear bootcut or wide leg trousers and fitted shirts or tops as they look so much better than baggy stuff as they show off your shape and will make you look taller as well. I have also noticed that longer shorts, just above the knee with boots in a matching colour make you look taller.
The important thing is that you wear stuff you feel good in and enjoy wearing so I would really advise you to go and try lots of stuff on and then you can see what suits you and what really doesn't!!
    Hope that helps!!!

    Answer:
I don't know if I can do the What's In bit but I'm roughly the same size as you and I've found shopping in the right shops and skipping Miss Selfridge, etc .. completely is what works for me.
Today I'm wearing skinny jeans from A-Wear so that's no use to you and a top from MS Limited Collection and the pirate boots from Penneys (Primark to you) and I look every bit as good imho as a size 8 twenty-something.
I would recommend MS as a good starting point .. their petite section is really good for say shorts and cropped trousers and they also have some going out tops that aren't too young, i.e., not overly 80s .. some of the stuff especially in the petite section can be quite mumsy so have a good look around before you discount it altogether. The Limited Collection is really nice and most of their stuff comes in regular, short and long lengths but is a bit more expensive.
Next petite is good for jeans and work stuff and Dorothy P's is OK but has gone downhill a lot in my opinion but can be good for trendy tops.
I tend to have to rely on Next, Pinciples, etc .. for bottoms and then I mix and match with tops from all over the place. I generally can't do Topshop's petite range at all as it just looks too young for me most of the time but I'm going to a Topshop to Go party next week so hopefully I'll get to rectify that then.

    Answer:
Thanks for your replies, catwoman I looked at your style diary, we are very similar shapes and height yes, but you are way more adventurous that me :o Some of those outfits I would not have thought of but they look fab! I love the teal coloured things, they would really go with my hair, my fave outfits on there were the FC dress over wide trousers (very flattering for a shortie too!) and the brown wood wide leg trousers and turquoise top (loved the bag with those too!)
MCGON67 I do try things on, but I have had a real 'issue' with my body shape over the last few years, I think its because I put a bit of weight on after I stopped smoking, I have just realised I dont want to spend my life living in tracksuits not buying in clothes until I 'get thin' I am putting my life on hold for something that is unrealistic, hence me getting all my clothes out!
