Work Party? Bloated tummy! What to wear?
My boyfriend's work are having a 'Company's 21st Birthday' Party at the end of Feb which I only found out about last night. I'd really rather not go as I'm not feeling great about myself at the moment and can also do without trailing through the shops trying to find something to wear in a panic.
I really should make the effort though. I could do with some styling advice from you ladies here is the problem;
I've put on quite a bit of weight recently (about 1.5-2stone, daren't weigh myself) and I've gone from a size 12 to a size 14 which wouldn't be he end of the world but my stomach always seems to be bloated from right under my boobs - I look pregnat! It's huge and wobbly :o and it spills out over the top of my size 14 jeans - sorry I know this doesn't sound too attractive but it's a fact!
I had already changed my diet on Monday and started drinking more water so hopefully that will help with the bloating but if not, how can I dress for a party and look glam yet hide this huge tummy!
I was hoping for a grown up/sexy look - what would you suggest? Sorry i wish I had a picture to show you but I don't have any with my body on.
Only real no-no is that I've always hated my legs and never wear skirts even when i was thinner - other than that all suggestins welcome :)

Oh God, I totally sympathise with you as I was in a similar situation last weekend - after having lived in sweatpants for ages I had to dress up for a night out and was shocked to discover that I can't get into some of my jeans!! Shock fecking horror!
I ended up wearing a pair of dark drainpipes, a black, longline slouchy batwing top (it's actually a mini dress) with black suede platforms. That dress/top was a life saver so you could look out for something similar? Would you wear a nice wrap dress with black opaques and knee high boots? It's a nice, classic look and not quite as "restricting" :D

i have a similar problem to you in that i have a bloated stomach (all the time!), i tend to try on tops that are crinkle-style or wrap, most of them seem to make my tummy look flat :eek: and then i wear jeans or black trousers with them. you can get some really beautiful classy tops at the moment.

It's from Top Shop but probably a good three or four years old!
There is a grey dress on the Top Shop site which is a similar style although mine sits tighter on the hips - it's under Top Shop Boutique and £40. Would that be any good for you?

ok, my friend is singing at a charity dinner soon and im going along for moral support. now we will be sitting together for the meal and because she is singing she is wearing a quite posh pale blue, knee length dress. now the invitation says smart, which isnt helping me, i dont want to overdo it BUT i also dont want to look out of place next to her.
any ideas???????? HELP!

I went to a charity event yesterday, the event said smart/smart casual. I was toying with the idea of skirts / dresses and in the end went for black trousers and a sparkly top.
It was perfect, wasn't OTT or casual just right. So Id say wear something formal and accessories with evening wear things like bags/earrings/shoes.

I'd probably wear a pair of wide leg trousers, a pretty top, strappy heels and matching accessories. Dressy but pretty relaxed, too. Have a great time! :)

i have a dinner at the end of april and i have set my heart on wearing a galaxy style dress.(although it will probly look way better on the hanger than on me! so its all theory at the moment !)
anyway the real thing is way way way out of my price range, but i reckon at a push for the right dress if it made me look and feel like a drop dead gorgeous sex kitten then i could stretch to a max of £80-100ish

Topshop had loads a couple of weeks ago, but I have no idea if they still do. I think the ones I saw were black, but they might have been dark blue. I don't have Flash on this PC so I can't check the website to see: www.topshop.co.uk
