Hello....
Just a quickie 'cos I have a fuzzy head and need some help.
I'm off to a conference at the crack of dawn tomorrow, which is unfortunate as I've been ill and am rather exhausted and uninspired.
Anyway, for this sort of thing (ie. networking with lots of people), I usually make an effort with clothes and try not to look dull and fade into the background - I work in a creative industry.
However, I feel bloody awful and can only face putting together a fairly conventional classic look: flat front black trousers, black heeled boots, black cashmere scoop neck - and lightening it up with a turquoise jacket and eyemakeup.
Is all that black too dull for a creative event and for mingling in a big crowd. Should I be dragging out various types of print shirts, knickerbockers, cropped trousers, layers and trying to put a more colourful outfit together?

I can't wear earrings at the moment and I'm a bit short on statement necklaces too, but I think you're right.
Something chunky and bright is called for but I don't have anything like that with me.... Off the top of my head I have... Long string of faux pearls? Short string of green amber beads? They're quite dark and subtle though as they're real amber. Op-arty necklace made up of white and silver flat disks?

I need some new black shoes for work. What does everyone think of these? Are they very boring?
I think I prefer the wedges on the red version, but don't need another pair of red shoes.
Can anyone recommend anything similar, but better? I'm rubbish in heels, but ok in wedges.

There is/was a Marc by Marc Jacobs concession in Liberty too - again the accessories are with the clothes.
