I cant decide whether to get a paypal account or just to continue sending cheques for items- is one method safer than the other? I dont really buy stuff that often and I dont understand how paypal works!

I have a paypal account. I suppose it is ok, but they charge when you sell something on Ebay. Mr Bu88les sold something for £300 on Ebay and the buyer paid by paypal. They took £12 off the £300 for their fees! :( . I suppose it's ok for certain things, but I think they must be making a fortune!

The fees do seem to be quite high, but it is really convenient, and more and more sites accept it.

I rarely use anything other than Paypal to pay for something because I can't bothered to send a check (don't have UK cheques) or a postal/money order.
Plus if something goes wrong, I can file a complaint with Paypal and hope to get my money back, even if it doesn't always work. I have no comeback if I pay any other way.

Unless you are overweight, the size won't change. Usually you'll find the shoes are wider but the size will stay the same unless you have lost quite a bit from being overweight, then you may drop a size.
