Are these flip flops stupid?
1 Attachment(s) Yes I'm planning for warmer weather already, so sick of winter!
I would wear them with juicy trackies, and that's it I think.
I can't decide if there's too much material on the front bit, iyswim?
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) I'm also getting these- I had them last year but wore them so much throughout the summer they got a bit mucky! (Kicking myself at not buying them in the sale for a tenner when I saw them now!)
Answer:
I remember the Cantonese girls at school having both styles... as slippers.
Sorry hun, the first pair really do scream slipper to me.
Answer:
Fair enough :p
I just want some flat (ish) white flipflops with the normal thong bit- would get the pink ones I posted in white aswell but I want them for my tracksuit, and I think it'd look a bit odd with high flipflops! :o
I'll keep checking ebay..
Answer:
How about some Havaianas?

Ballet pumps and...???
Hi stylish girlies! :)
Just a silly question but I always wonder what do you usually wear when wearing your ballet pumps and jeans/skinnies?
I have a pair of black and metallic gold ones and usually wear them during spring/summer/autumn as find them rather cold for winter and rainny days...so just wondering whether you wear thick socks or stockings or something else?
Sorry for the silly question but just wondering :o :( :)
Answer:
Usually those knee high things - I've got a few opaque/fishnet ones which look nice, as well as the ubiquitous granny pop socks :o
g_k
Answer:
I wear mine with little fine metallic-y socks - sorry forget the right word - lurex? The twinkly ones!
Answer:
I wear pop socks with mine-they look ok,I like that whole clashing look of stripey socks and ballet shoes but I think I am too old for it!"!!!
Answer:
This is something I often wonder. I used to try wearing my glittery black ones with black opaque tights or black socks lol, but felt self-conscious in them so don't do that any more.
With my silver and gold and brown ones, I have to brave the cold and go sockless/tightless, but I think they are better in the Summer without a doubt.
*Trying* to look vaguely stylish wearing a uniform!

*Trying* to look vaguely stylish wearing a uniform!
For one of my jobs I work in a residential home - and we have our new uniform.
Bearing in mind I am a size 16 to start with - and far from tall!
We have light blue trousers, polyester/cotton mix (nice) straight legged, they were waaay too long to have had to take up a bit so any shape they had was lost!! they have a sort of stay=press permanent ridge down the front of the leg.....
The top - oh yes the top! Tunic, same material, light blue, slightly tailored into the waist, a big pleat type vent thingy from the shoulders to mid back, then a mid split over the bum area!
Button fastening with short sleeves and excess room in the shoulder area making it look like you have air pockets on your shoulders.
Yes, we look stunning.
Bit limited in the footware dept. We have to wear practical shoes!!
There MUST be some way to look nice - we have to sometimes support our relsidents to hospital appointments, outings etc, in uniform and its not much short of embarrassing!
I know it is most likely a lost cause but can anyone suggest any accutrements, alteratons or miracles to help!!
I will post a pic, when i am next wearing it I will frighten you all mwahahahaha
LOL - any help clearly needed!
Answer:
I used to work in a residential home - with pretty much the same uniform (and predicament!!), although we had the zip ones instead of the buttons.
Get the excess material in the shoulders taken in a bit, but make sure it doesnt restrict your movement....
You cant wear lots of jewellery either because it will obviously get in the way? We used to wear nice choker- type necklaces so that they didnt get caught while lifting and turning etc., and always painted out nails nice bright colours to 'jazz it up'.
Try experimenting with your hair a little too - we used to wear nice headbands or scarves folded into headbands too.
I cant think of much else - sorry! Me and a friend tried to wear heels a couple of times we were doing the outpatient run - but after a couple of emergency bleeps on the shift we ended up taking them off and running around in our socks! If youre going out, can you bring a different pair of shoes and a nice jacket to throw over the top?
xxx
Answer:
concentrate on your hair and make-up and get your uniform tailored at a dry cleaners-theres not much else you can do really!
Answer:
Actually that is a good idea re the tailoring - who the hell has shoulders that big anyway!! I am no slim jim but it fits in some places and not in others!
I do like the idea of the hair - mine is just below shoulder length and I have a long / half grown out fringe so there are possibilities there.
Jewellry is a nono - at least rings and bracelets although i do wear two charity bands - but can get away with a choker.
Thanks for your help!
Answer:
no worries-you will always look better if your clothes perfectly-could you buy a pair of trousers in the same colour but more fashionable?
Aiport chic? I'm clueless!

Aiport chic? I'm clueless!
Hello! I'm off to see the lovely Mr H tomorrow (he's been in N. Ireland for a staggering 6 weeks!! :( ). I'm sure there are tonnes of threads about this during the summertime but I was wondering what folks tend to wear to the airport if they're choosing style over comfort!
Any ideas? I've just been watching some b/w film called The Locket and started feeling all giddy for 30s glamour pusses! :yay:
Answer:
Why not combine style and comfort?!
Some things that would look stylish and be comfy/ warm:
Ballet pumps
Cardi/ shrug
Well cut jeans
An oversized bag (practical, too)
You could also stick your hair up in a loose up-do and slap some huge movie star glasses on too! Might be a bit grim weather-wise for that though.
Answer:
Ooh, Lucy, I never thought of jeans and a cardi - what kind of bagger am I?!
I've clearly been blinkered by that film. They were all sleek dresses and polished hair! What a waste of your time I am! Thank you x
Answer:
Haha! Don't be silly you're not wasting my time!
I've got the perfect outfit for you that I'm imagining in my head:
Hair in loose up do
Huge movie star glasses
Vest
Cardi/shrug
Chunky black beads
Well cut jeans tucked into..
Knee high boots
Oversized bag
The accessories are the key I reckon!
Go and look glam girl!
Answer:
O/T but I've Sky+'d that same film to snuggle up and watch when I'm finished work this afternoon so I expect I'll be feeling the same as you later!
