Good vintage shops in central london? Birthday Shopping!
Its my birthday next month, and I'm planning a big old shopping trip to get my pressies in a couple of weeks.
I'm going to do all the usuals like topshop oc and the surrounding shops, but what I'm really feeling like at the moment is a bit of vintage stuff.
Tbh I'm a bit fed up of going into topshop and finding so much I like, but knowing that everyone will have it in a month or so.
Soooo... can anyone recommend any good vintage shops in central london?
I've already got Rokit on my list, are there any other goodies?
Thanks in advance girls!
Answer:
I was going to post the same thing! My sister is looking for a wedding dress (not a traditional dress though) and I'm taking her shopping in a few weeks and thought we should have a look in some vintage shops.
The only one I know is Steinberg and Tolkien on the Kings Road, so I'd be interested to know of any others.
Answer:
Covent Garden
Check out Monmouth Street and the little streets surrounding Seven Dials for places like Pop Boutique as well as other lesser known vintage shops and one-off boutiques.
Shoreditch
Rokit and Laden on Brick Lane, Beyond Retro (massive!) on Cheshire Street and Absolute Vintage (huge!) on Hanbury Street. Commercial Street (runs parallel to Brick Lane, reach it from Hanbury Street) has lots of one-off boutiques and vintage shops, and Spitalfields Market (Sundays) and the shops around it are great for original finds.
a couple of other places that are supposed to be quite good but i don't often go to are Camden (too far north and a bit grotty) and Berwick Street and surrounding area, just off Oxford Street (i get distracted by Selfridges).
i also keep hearing about a shop called Radio Days Vintage in Waterloo which is supposed to be amazing but i haven't been to it yet...

Lots of info here: http://www.uktvstyle.co.uk/index.cfm...aid/2675.shtml
They also mention Radio Days, have never ben myself;
"Radio Days in Waterloo is definitely worth a visit. They not only sell vintage clothes, but also a huge variety of other gear - old sheet music, ceramics, phones, radios - even cocktail accessories. Just log onto their website and be transported back to the glamorous 40s by the Billie Holiday sound track! Their website gives a taste of what they sell, but you'll need to visit in person to make a purchase. "

PS If you want buxom wench boobies how about a corset?
Answer:
How about a Wonderbra strapless bra? Unfortunately their push-up strapless one doesnt go above a C cup  but their ordinary strapless one is available in up to a DD. I'm planning to get it myself, I am an E but usually 'size down' in strapless bras because they need to be snugger I reckon.
edit - oops, the push up strapless one IS available in a 34D, just not on Figleaves, my bad!
Answer:
I think a corset would show under most my tops. I need it to wear under that topshop bandeau top.
I was thinking of getting the liquid version of that bra bella (or maybe that might be too much:confused: ) but i have terrible visions of it bursting or something:
ETA: Heavens that was also one that i was looking at too :) Was just being nosey to see what people suggested. Off to investigate:detect:
Lace up boots

Lace up boots
I've been looking for leather , Victorian style knee high lace up boots for months, can anyone help me?
The only ones I've found on the highstreet were in Clarks and they twisted my ankles in a funny way and the only ones I've found online either look as if I'm about to kick someone's head in, or are a bit too kinky for everyday wear!
Answer:
Eek, these were everywhere a few months back now I can't find any anywhere on line, sorry :(
Answer:
What about these ones from Kit (available at Additions)? They are £49.
Answer:
Oh yeah, they have them still (Just looked there and couldn't find them)

Topshop returns query

Topshop returns query
Hey guys,
Need some help tring to get my money back from Topshop (longshot i know!)
I brought a here in the sales which turned out to be faulty, so i tried to return it only to be told that i had to exchange it with something else (for the reduced value of £20). I asked for a gift voucher as i honestly couldnt see anything that i liked and was in a real rush, but it was exchange or nothing. So i exchanged it for another bag that i dont even like!
So im wondering how the heck i get my money back! If i was to try and return the new bag, would that work? Bearing in mind that the receipt says 'exchange' and doesnt state what the origonal payment method was. But the difference being that its within 28days and i have a valid reciept and the bag is new?
On top of this i also have another TS voucher for £20! U might think im crazy for complaining but i really cant see anything in there that i would like to spend at the mo, there are plenty of other shops where i have seen nice things where i would love to spend this money but its tied up in TS vouchers/purchases i dont want!!!
help anyone!?!!!!!
Answer:
I'm afraid they will only exchange and not refund.
You should have been offered a refund though for a faulty item in the first place or the same bag as an exchange. Maybe write a letter to head office and complain?
Keep the vouchers to you see something you like. If i'm struggling i usually get underwear or some basic vest tops for summer.
