i was watching some fashion report on the Tv at the weekend and all the experts said this years must have dress is the shirt dress, well i went out and bought one, a cheapy from peacocks to see what i thought and it looks like an overall, have i been mislead or have i just bought the wrong one

I think you've probly just bought an ill fitting one, but never having tried one on myself I'm probably in no position to answer.
I saw a lovely one (I think it was navy) in Miss Selfridge last week and was tempted to try it on. Being petite though scares me when it comes to dresses.
There were also some nice ones in New Look too in a range of colours. Although I thought the Miss S ones were a lot nicer.
Maybe you should shop around and try some more on and see if they look nicer/fit better?

I think that the straight shirt dresses that button all the way down the front are difficult to wear for anyone but a 5'6 + skinny minny. Something about the buttons and when you sit down and gaping and that matron uniform look...... :confused: Some of the miss selfridge and topshop ones which are shirt dressy on the top, fitted at the waist with a gathered skirt are more cute and easy to wear, and still come within the 'shirt dress' category because of the top half ? :confused:

Dorothy Perkins has a lovely denim one that I'm planning on buying.
I've had shirt dresses before and found that the straight-up-and-down shape doesn't suit my curvy figure, and the buttons gape when I sit down, etc. But the Dorothy Perkins denim one is a lovely fit, and it has a fitted top half but a looser bottom half with a nice swirly skirt.

I'm going to a restaurant in london on new years day eve (don't know which one so not sure of dress code but it should be a smart one) and will be meeting my boyfriends gran and uncles, aunties etc for the first time (I've met his mum and sisters lots of times now though) I was thinking of this top

Thanks Bella, I spotted those trousers but I'm not sure they would look that good on me, although I'm tall so you never know. For some reason I have slouchy ones in mind. Going shopping on weds so will try everything on and see. Wish I had a pic of the New Look shoes I think they are gorge -esp for the price - £22!

I'm on the look out for some 70 denier tights. I'm hoping they will be ok as 60 denier doesn't give me 'quite' enough coverage that i want.

I got the mooch shorts (thanks to Smoothies thread!), another pair of denim culottes from DP's incase the mooches don't fit, a navy spotty t-shirt also from DP's and some basic vests from TS all for my holiday, less than 4 weeks to go now:yay:
I'm really into denim shorts just now, I saw some in M+S too that I liked but couldn't be arsed to try on - I'm not really a denim person but I reckon they'll be super handy for being comfy but look good on holiday:) I just hope they fit:fingers:

I bought a Gucci bag from www.prestigegoods.co.uk. It certainly appeared genuine and I am really happy with it. The finishes on it were identical to another one that I had bought in the Gucci store in London.
Unfortunately Gucci and Prada are the only designers that they sell.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but those are about as likely to be genuine as i am to become a world champion shot putter while being a prima ballerina :(
prada and gucci aren't sold through random online stores, gucci are on their own website and some reputable department stores sell them online as well, and prada don't even have a proper website but are available from places like neiman marcus if you must buy online. ebay is flooded with fakes and you have to have a really good eye to tell, and even then you aren't always sure.
