Buying a titanium and reselling it???
There's a shop near me that has Roland Mouret titanium dresses for about €1.5k. I've been searching ALL over for an outfit for an upcoming wedding and can't find anything. there's no way I can afford a €1.5k dress, but if I did buy it, and wear it for the day, how much do you think I'd get on ebay for a worn-once-only titanium??
Considering that a new one just went for over $2k !!!

why don't you just buy one of the highstreet versions?

Because they're all in black and I don't want a black one.
Plus a lot of them just look like cheap imitations.
If you could direct me to a good quality one, not in black, and not the Karen Millen one I would deffo snap it up.
Answer:
There's one in white here

Rare also does one in red and oyster but they only have the red 'galaxy' on the site.
This comes in red and navy on the Dorothy perkins site
I think the time has passed for the dresses, you may have made your money back near xmas party season but i'm not sure of now.
Answer:
I tried on the DP one, and the cut was weird on me - just looked all wrong. But maybe I'm just the wrong shape!

Evil here is leading me astray - they've got this dress (Dress number 10), which I'm pretty sure is the one that's been on the recent advert about overdressing for work, but I can't find it on the Mango website.
Is this an old collection that they don't have in stock anymore?
ETA - Hi by the way, first time I've ventured into this forum... be gentle!
Answer:
Hello
Have you tried ringing Mango? I should think their number will be on the website.
Answer:
Thanks
I think I might have to try that tomorrow, I'll just sound like a fool trying to describe it is all!

I'm going to the Oscars After show party this weekend in LA, But I really don't know what to wear... I know I've left it a little late  but any suggestions on dress style colour etc would be fab... ooh and shoes/bag etc
For ref I'm a size 10, hourglass shape, Dark hair, light olive skintone. I've got a budget of about £200.

Gawd, how did you manage that?! I'm very jealous :)
Is the £200 budget for everything - dress, shoes, bag etc? I'm not really sure what is the 'done thing' to wear at these sorts of events, but someone posted this the other day which, I think is gorgeous...you could get some silver strappy shoes from Faith or somewhere, a little clutch bag and maybe a shrug if it's a bit cold.
I might be totally on the wrong lines here though, glamouruos places are a bit out of my reach as a student  Have a fantastic time though!
Answer:
Wow - you lucky thing.
Well it's a bit of a once in a lifetime isn't it so I'd say blow the budget.
There are going to be a tonne of gorgeous designer dresses so maybe your best option would be to go vintage so you'll have something a bit different? I'd be tempted to do ridiculously old school glamour but with a twist.

Right place at the right time and a lot of Luck! ;)
Yeah the £200 is for the whole shabang! I've got a few pairs of cute strappies so might not have to get shoes as well and as for bag I'll get get a small non discriptive clutch that shouldn't cost too much... so really it's just the dress I'm worried about.
I loved the dress kelly clarkson wore to the britts... see pic
But I was also thinking about being bold and wearing something RED???
Ads in mags - A rant!

Ads in mags - A rant!
I bought Elle magazine for the first time on Friday to read on the train home. My main reason for choosing Elle was that it was a pretty thick magazine and as £3 is the top end of prices for mags I thought it would be good value.
How wrong was I???????
The first 20 or so pages were just adverts, then the contents page and then another dozen pages of adverts. I don't think there was one spread which didn't have an advert on at least one page.
The cover advertised 'Make Up Special' - that was about 3 pages and there were only about 3 other articles that weren't fashion related.
Is this the norm for Elle? I am shocked that they can fill a magazine two-thirds full of advertising and still charge the customer £3.
I am seriously considering writing to complain.
Rant over
Answer:
I once got so pissed off with ads I went through one of the big glossies tearing out all the pages that were ads on both sides. You should try it. When you close it after you're done and see how thin it actually is...
Good therapy though :D
Answer:
Good idea Leap, I may well try that and post them their chuffing ads back with my letter of complaint!
Answer:
I was thinking the exact same thing while reading Marie-Claire on the train this morning  Literally the first 17 pages consist of adverts, and the contents page. How annoying!
Answer:
Yup, I noticed that at teh weekend as well. plus I made teh double mistake of buying US Elle (never noticed till I was reading and noticed all the fashion prices were in $ ) and its even WORSE than the UK edition! Obviously with the new Spring lines coming out all the designhouses are spending their advertising budgets....
