Hairbands
i've noticed that nearly every high street fashion shop is stocking thick black hairbands, i've bought one today, but i'm not quite sure which is the fashionable way to wear them, i have quite long layered hair, should i wear it so it holds all my hair back? i'm really not sure....:meh:
ideas please!
Answer:
I have it holding all of my hair back if my fringe is having an off day - but I usually have it n a pony tail at the back if that makes sense....otherwise I just poke my fringe out the front.
If you have lots of layers at the front you could sweep them sideways and put the band on to hold them in place?

I'm *very* bored so here are some ideas...

who knew weight loss was a problem?? (clothing alterations help)
i've lost a lot of weight in the past six months - an 18 to just under a 12 now - which is brilliant and i'm really pleased about BUT I now have a new problem!
When i was bigger, i bought a pair of gorgeous Blood Glitter jeans from TK Maxx (RRP £85, i paid £25) in a size 12 - waist 30 - thinking that i would slim into them. Now, I'm finding that they're too big!! This is really good for the ego but bad for everything else because i love them - does anyone know if tailors or clothing alterations places can take in jeans totally - i mean waist, hips, legs, everything??
I've never used a tailor but I really don't want to just buy a new pair - this pair is gorgeous and a really old style so i can't just get a new pair... I've taken in tops and stuff myself but i don't know where to start with jeans, plus my sewing machine needle isn't strong enough for denim. I DO NOT want to have to ebay them!! I want to wear them!!
Answer:
Can't help on the alteration thing (I'm sure someone will be along in a minute) - but just wanted to say congratulations on the weight loss, that's fantastic! :D
Answer:
thanks mate :o
Answer:
You can get them altered at a dry cleaners, I've just had mine shortened, as I have to with all jeans! Will cost you a fair bit I guess though as it's about £7 just to have them shortened. Worth it though I guess if you love them. Just ensure they use the same colour stitching as the rest of the jeans!
Well done with the weight loss, that's fantastic. AND, how did you do it?!
Answer:
so you think they can take them in too?
lol the old fashioned way - exercise and stopped comfort eating!
Christmas Wishlists
NO.3. ask :
Christmas Wishlists
Hello everybody!
What is currently on your updated Christmas Wishlist? I am looking for inspiration as I have recently been shamefully self-indulgent and pretty much just bought anything I've seen that's taken my fancy. Which leaves me with not much to offer people in terms of a wishlist!
So far all I have are the Altec Lansing inMotion iPod speaker thingy, several books (I am devouring them now that I am taking such a dull non-literature course) and a few vintage bits I have my eye on.
Voila! Now tell me everything you are hoping for this year, so I can steal your ideas!
Answer:
unusually for me, there is actually nothing that I particularly want. ( I appreciate thats not very helpful to you!) Normally i can be quite material and there are loads of bits and bobs i want but since I haven't had any money and therefore had resisted shopping so as not to get upset  I am just asking for money to fund the materials for my final year collection, as the fabrics will cost a packet.
I don't know where the list might end if i got onto things that I want but can't have....
Answer:
I've asked for some MAC makeup- funky eyeshadows in colours I've picked out and some lipgloss.
You can never have too much makeup to choose from and frankly I have to stop buying so much MAC stuff for myself or I'll be bankrupt.
Mr Lucy took me to Bluewater and got me to pick some earrings as my present from him- I chose some white gold and pink sapphire studs. :yay:
My mum gave me some dosh to go shopping with- I chose 2 sets of underwear from TopShop (one grey, one lilac with little cream bows), as well as a cream shrug, a stripey vest and nude coloured satin screwed up-effect camisole from HM.
I've asked for perfume from other people.
Some great pampering stuff is nice to receive, especially from ranges like The Sanctuary or Molton Brown. (Or Ren, but that's hideously espensive).
What about some jewellery from Accessorize or TopShop?
You could ask for vouchers for a spa day or something too, that would be cool!
Answer:
Anya Hindmarch vouchers.
A fully paid trip to London for sale shopping.
Hello and engagement party help
NO.4. ask :
Hello and engagement party help
Hello! I've been a long time lurker but this is only my second post so please be gentle-although you all seem nice so far so I don't think I really need to worry!
I have just got engaged and we're having a party on easter sunday to celebrate, and I haven't a clue what to wear!
Bearing in mind there will be cameras at the event and I'm hoping to show the pictures to our children when they come (please God not yet!), I want to look quite classic but not frumpy.
However, I'm only 4"11 and very curvy, with enormous breasts! So frumpiness is sadly a very real possibility....! Pale colours don't suit me, strong colours are much better. I wear glasses and have layered wavy just past chin length hair, with very pale skin.
Sorry, may be asking an awful lot but you all seem to know more than me!
P.S. don't suggest something too expensive please, am saving for a flat!
Answer:
Hi Caroboy - Congratulations on your engagement! :D and welcome to the Bag aswell.
I think you need to wear a dress - it's a special day for you, and dresses are special! Well, more special than jeans or trousers anyway. If you get one specially from the petite ranges then it will be designed to avoid 'frumpiness' :) The boobs could be a problem though, as I think a lot of those ranges seem to think people are 'petite' all over - both in height and boobs! So you'll have to shop around a bit. I'll go and have a look on some websites in a minute to try and find some ideas :)
As for colours, I'm quite pale aswell, and think turquoise, mid-blue and red can really flatter pale skin, but obviously everyone is different in what suits them.
What's the maximum you'll want to spend? And are you looking for the whole outfit (shoes and bag) aswell, or do you already have lots of shoes?
Answer:
Thanks glitterjunkie!
I think you're right, dresses are much more special than jeans or trousers-plus I have such short legs I even have to take up trousers bought from the petite range!
I'm really broke so don't really want to spend more than £50-actually, even that's pushing it but it will hopefully be the only time I get married.so I think I can justify the expense!
I won't really need a here as the party will be held at my house, and I have enough shoes to manage with-although nowhere near as many as some of you baggers do!!!;)
Answer:
I'd get a wrap dress in a small print and accent it with a coloured cami. What is your colouring and what colour are your glasses ? For instance if you have blue/green eyes and brown hair then a wrap dress in browns/beige/cream perhaps with an acqua or turquoise cami to bring out your eyes ?
There are loads of lovely print wrap dresses around on the high street and a 3/4 sleeve version is very flattering. Teamed with a pair of strappy heels or funky boots you have a nice conservative party outfit that you won't cringe looking back at in years to come. If you were then wearing the above outfit I would team it with gold/light bronze strappy heels and pick up the metal either in your glass grames or some bracelets / rings. Depending upon how bold your glass frames are you could even wear a statement necklace OR earrings.
Answer:
Thanks elliecat, that sounds lovely-I have some lovely brown boots that would go with that kind of dress.
My colouring is kind of funny-I'm very pale everywhere except my face which tends to be kind of pinky. My eyes are hazel and green is one of my favourite colours on me to bring out the green flecks in my eyes. My glasses are silver, but an image consultant I went to see told me silver was never to be seen by my face-cheers! (the consultant was a present, I would never have got that for myself). Anyway, they cost over £130 and I love them so I'm not changing them until I need a new prescription-sorry for the digression, forgot how much that annoyed me! She did however, describe my 'colours' as a 'deep autumn' so that included lots of lovely deep blues and greens, as well as black and brown.
I've still got 40 days to choose something lovely though, so I needn't rush too much!
On ebay what would it be under

On ebay what would it be under
I am after some army style combats, as i cant find any i like in the shops, i want them the colour of the proper army colours not the lighter version, but of course i dont want to buy a pair of water proof army troussers  i could get them off my dad he use to be in the army and they wouldnt be loose enough anyway round the bottom
If i type army stuff into the search box it brings up proper army stuff!!!
Anyone know????
Answer:
I just typed in "army combat trousers" and they came up. Would link to a bargain pair I just found for you, but they don't let you on here!
Answer:
maybe try 'cargo pant' and 'camouflage' under Womens Clothing section?
Answer:
I have played around a bit- and here are some results.
I used the words combat and camouflage...

Answer:
Have you tried searching for 'combat' or 'army' or 'military' under the 'women's clothing' section? :) Then you won't be getting all the men's stuff!
