Ball dress

NO.1. Ask :
Ball dress
Hi.
I know you probably get asked this a lot but.. where can i get a ball dress from? Love monsoon dresses but think everyone will have the same ones. I can spend up to about £250. Where would you recommend? Looking for something floor length and quite light ands floaty if that helps.
Thanks!

Answer:
monsoon, like you say, but personnally I find them quite badly fitting.
Coast, in the otherhand, have really nice fitting dresses, I have one from coast and totally :throb: it.
Debenhams do a lot of dresses, I've had a floatyish floor length one from their 'Debut' range before, and also a gorgeous one designers@debehnams.
TK Maxx have lots of dresses, and although there is often tat in there, you can get some real gems.
Any department stores really - like I said, debenhams has a large dress selection, as does my local Fenwicks and HOF?
Answer:
I was going to suggest Debenhams too.
I went to a ball and after looking everywhere for a dress I just didn't find one I loved. So I designed my own and got it made. It only cost just over £100 all together, and there was no one else going to turn up wearing the same. Also everything I looked at would have had to be altered, as I'm only 5'1, so getting one made meant it fitted perfectly. Maybe thats an idea you could consider?
Answer:
I was going to say that Vic - for £250 you could get your dream dress whipped up by a local seamstress.
Have you looked on bridal websites? Have a peek over in weddings, some of their bridesmaids dresses would be ideal for a ball.
Answer:
Ooh, hadn't thought of getting one made, just assumed it would be too expensive. That would be so cool, hmmmm. Could be better to do that as my body can be a bit awkward for dresses.
thanks!

Whenever I log onto the forums on here my pc speakers start bleeping, like some kind of code or something?
Is it happening to anyone else?
    Answer:
oooooo that happens to me too! I was convinced i had a virus, phew. I think it might be the ads on the right hand side...
    Answer:
yup, happens to me too, very annoying!

It's one of the stupid adverts at the top of the page:rolleyes:

It's an add and has been driving me insane. I think it's the one that scans bar codes. Whatever it is I wish it would stop.

O/T my St Tropez is navy blue!
I bought some St Tropez mousse off ebay last week (I always get it off ebay, and it's always okay, usually)
Anyway, have just come to use it and it's navy blue! (Instead of mud brown)
I'm guessing it's not that fresh, but I've tried it anyway to see how it turns out.
I paid via paypal, what are my chances of getting my money back? I've only used a tiny squirt.
Thanks to anyone that can help..
    Answer:
I've heard of it going green before but not blue
Weird! Does it have a use by date or anything?
    Answer:
Yeah, i've had some that went bottle green but not blue.....
    Answer:
    Yeah it's proper navy blue.
As far as I can see it isn't a rip off St Tropez, it was new with seal still in tact, just navy blue, so my guess is it's very out of date, maybe green...but blue is just weird.
Can I make a claim via paypal? I can't exactly say "my st tropez is blue, give me my money back" because she didn't specify in the auction how fresh it was or anything?
Argh this is typical, was dying for some more St Tropez aswell!
eta: Have emailed the seller asking her how fresh it is...and telling her it's navy blue! We'll see what she says...

Hey, throw caution to the wind, you could make a Boadicea woad tan this years' must have :D

    River Island Jeans
    Hiya
I'm slightly annoyed as the other day I tried on this gorgeous pair of jeans in River Island. I had seen them a few weeks ago and was looking forward to buying them. I tried on a size 12 which usually fits me in Topshop and most other high street stores; but they were really tight and I could barely do the button up!
I haven't put on weight and my other jeans still fit me; anyone know if there is a difference in River Island sizes? Make me feel better!
    Thank U :)

    Answer:
There are differences in sizes in all shops, so if you're a 10 in one you might be a 14 in others. :)
    Answer:
The River Island jeans stretch out alot, I got the a pair of the Gold lable ones and I could barely get them over my hips the first time I tried them on, after a lot of squeezing and breathing in and two wears they fit perfectly.

Yip. I always buy the smaller size at RI because they stretch so much. You basically need to squash yourself into them and break them in for a few hours!!! After a few wears they ar like a whole size bigger.
    Answer:
Yeah they're definitely a small fit when you first try them on. I'm normally size 6/8 but I struggled to breath in a size 8 in RI.

    NO.5. ask :
    Micro shorts - which shoes???
I bought two pairs of micro shorts yesterday (Topshop) and would love to wear them to work with thick black tights but don't know what shoes to wear with them!!! My fiance' has banned me from wearing them in the office full stop...
I am slim and 5'8 so no heels, I don't want to look like a sex kitten in the office! WHat sort of flat shoe wouldn't look completely stupid with black tights???
    Answer:
TBH, I wouldn't wear these to work, but it depends on what the dress code is like, I s'pose. IMHO they're more a going out thing. But peep toes would look nice! :)
    Answer:
I have to agree on not wearing them to the office.
I'm not sure exactly what the TS ones are like but, if they are anything like the ones over here, people (most with the legs to carry them off) tend to wear them with flats during the day or forties/fifties style peep toes at night.
    Answer:
You'd be brave wearing them to the office!! My colleagues would have a field day but if you work in the type of place where it's ok and you'd feel comfortable, I'd go for ballet pumps.
    Answer:
Yep we can pretty much wear whatever incl. jeans. I sometimes wear a pretty short skirt with really thick tights so I suppose the shorts are the same but more comfy. Was going to wear them with a blouse and jacket.
