NO.1. Ask :
what shall i wear for my inteview?
hi all
i have an interview for a post graduate course at nottingham university tomorrow! :yay:
im in a pickle as to what to wear!
black wide leg trousers
fitted shirt
which shoes? i have ballerinas, or pointy flats (i think heels are too much)
do you think a long black wool coat is ok rather than a jacket? i can take it off, and its cold at the moment
i dont like wearing suit jackets too much! i feel like im in a school uniform!
any ideas?
Answer:
outfit
that sounds the business
just don't overdoo the perfume!
How are you doing your hair?
What- about a bag - do you need to take documents with you, do you need to make notes?
Answer:
im going to wear my hair in a neat ponytail-its a science course so need to appear neat and tidy!
i need to take a bag actually-good point, the only one large enough is my new slouch! somehow i dont think that'll be suitable
i have a neat over-the-body chocolate brown one, but its not big enough
would a small here suffice? i could carry my file
Answer:
Hi
For my postgrad course interview I wore a pinstripe blue trouser suit and plain black shoes. I wanted to wear my fishtail type skirt that went with it but I couldn't find any shoes to go with it!
I would probably say wear the pointy flats as I think they will look a bit smarter, I would probably wear the jacket as well though as I think it will look more professional. You can always take it off when you get in the interview room if you feel uncomfortable.
I think you'll be ok with a small bag and a file.
Hope that helps. :)
xx
Answer:
I think your outfit sounds fine. I would maybe go with the pointy flats for smartness, but I don't think you have to wear a jacket - I think it depends on the type of course. I think you are about the right level of smartness for a science course - I would go with a suit if it was business or law - all my education has been on the artsy side of things, so I always just wore black!

Primark qu - what size do they do up to?
Meeting my mum in town for lunch and shopping tomorrow - wondered about taking her to Primark - but she's a big lass - size 20-22. Do Primark do clothes in these sizes? Actually I'm saying she's that big but she's lost a lot of weight since Christmas so she might be an 18-20 by now.
    Answer:
Up to an 18 Curls and the sizes are notoriously hit and miss.
I took my sister - a size 10-12 - in, and she got a load of stuff in sizes 8-14 :meh:
    Answer:
I'm sure they do up to a 20 'cause my mum buys from there. They may even do 22's as my mum is a 20- 22 :)
I don't think the choice is as wide as it is for the smaller sizes though.
    Answer:
I thought they only did up to a 18 but that might just be my primark- its quite small

I was loitering in Claires Accessories when I heard a baby screaming its head off and looked around to find a one year old being pinned down by the SA and having her ears pierced!
The poor baby was balling her eyes out and all the Mum could say was "ahh! Don't you look pretty now".
Sorry but I really don't agree with kiddies having their ears pierced when they are this old. I know they probably wouldn't remember the pain but surely its better until the kid asks to have them done.
    Answer:
    Ah that's awful!
    Answer:
I agree. I think it's horrible to put holes in a baby's ears when the baby clearly has no choice in the matter. It doesn't look cute it looks cruel.
    Answer:
My parents did this when I was 2 or 3 I think. I didn't scream (so they say  ), but I thik my ears have grown asymetrical (sp?) somehow as they're not even.
ETA my ears obviously are even, the holes I meant...
    Answer:
my 14 yr old asked for her ears to be pierced when she was 4. i told her it would hurt!
i totally disagree with piercing ears when the child has no opinion on the choice
    poor child

After all the usual umming and chin stroking that comes with me making any kind of purchase i think I have finally decided to get some low cut French Sole pumps, I would quite like to get the plain black leather ones, a pump for all occasions , but am also quite attratced to some of the more colourful ones.
They have leopard print with a pink trim, zebra, another one with a strange but nice print in ponyskin, navy leather and crocodile style ones. But i just can't make up my mind. Someone tell me what to get... ;)
    Answer:
    All of the above :yay:
    Answer:
    ummmmm.......
Put on the outfit you want these pumps to go with.
    Now look at your feet.
    Imagine black pumps on them.
    .....
    .....
    ...
Are you happy with what you see? Or are you secretly wishing I had asked to to imagine the ponyskin ones?

    Answer:
Leopard print with the pink trim !! I :throb: them.. :D
    Answer:
All of the above would be nice, but considering my student status just one pair will do
I sort of need them to go with everything, I mainly wear jeans of all sorts of colours, or denim skirts and tights, sometimes more patterned skirts, and i am not a matchy matchy person. I would like them to see me through until the late spring (or Graduation :yay:) at least.

    Interview outfit - Please Help!
I have a preliminary interview for a marketing job tomorrow afternoon with an agency. If they are satisfied I go to the next stage which is an interview with the company. My problem is that I have to go straight from work the company I work for is smart casual. As I have to leave early tomorrow to get there on time..'dentist appointment' I don't have time to change. I am thinking black knee length a line skirt with pale pink butterflies embroided on with black slash neck three quarter length sleeve jumper black pointy knee high boots. Also have pink or grren scarf, black funnel neck coat black work bag.
    Is this too drab/casual?
Hair will be in a topknot
    Thanks
    Answer:
Sounds like a nice outfit to me.
Would it "take" some accessories, eg a metallic or coloured belt or some eyecatching earrings (not shoulder-brushers :p ) that you could keep hidden in your bag for the smart-casual office day?
    Answer:
I've got a pink ribbon belt that comes with it some simple silver dangly earrings.
Thanks for your help Wabbit :)
    Answer:
I think its a little bit too casual for a interview hun, sorry. I know it depends what field ur in but i'd go for a suit. By that i dont mean something boring. An a-line skirt with embroidery on just doesnt seem serious enough for me. My friends boyfriend interviews people for a promotional company and he reckons if theyre not in a suit he's not impressed. he also mentioned that it should be black, but personally i think thats just his personal preference and sometimes black connotes a stand-offish approach.
How about some tailored trousers with a nice fashionable blouse? xxxxxxxxx
    Answer:
I think Gemsy is right, I think a suit! However, unless they're very well tailored trousers, I've always always been taught by everyone I know that women should wear skirts in an interview, a sad fact I know, and not right in today's equal rights climate, but interviewers and companies often prefer women to wear skirt suits, it's just the way it is!
And, if the skirt is well tailored and all black is too severe on you, as it is on me, (I have 3 suits - one navy, one brown, and one dove grey - all of which look much better on me than black!) how about a black pencil skirt with a jacket like this one.

Worn with matching shoes - not too high, and either flesh or opaque tights - i know opinions vary on this, personally, I would wear flesh coloured, I think this can look very, very smart
