OT Ideas for an Engagement present
My best mate has just got engaged I need ideas for a present.
I was going to get one of those glass cubes with 'heapy engagement' in it with two hearts/rings inside - sorry thats a really bad description, does anyone no what I mean?
But, I can't find one anywhere....
Any ideas??
By the way money is very tight at the mo March/April/ May is a big time for presents for my OH me so about £10 would be ideal.
Thank You x
Answer:
Im sorry to say I dont know what you mean about that glass thing , but it sounds really tacky.
Why dont you just get a bottle of champagne if you are on a budget? You can pick up cheaper ones for about £12 quid, if not less:)
Answer:
How about a photo album or scrapbook? Something that could be used to hold memories.
IMO things such as ornaments or that say 'happy engagement' etc on tend to get put into boxes and stored away. I much prefer to give a gift that people will get use out of!
Answer:
how about a really nice photo frame and get it engraved ''congratulations on yr engagement'' or something like that they could use it to put their fave pic of them together in it
Answer:
Thanks for your ideas, am liking the idea of an album. It has to be a bit different as she lives the champers life  Which I can't afford I don't what to get something cheap in comparison to what she is use to . If that makes sense
love2shop22 I got her a large silver frame for her 21st which was a photo collage so I'm not to keen to get another photo frame. But thanks for the idea:)
O/T "Vanity London" - can anyone tell me if this is a scam?
NO.2. ask :
O/T "Vanity London" - can anyone tell me if this is a scam?
Hello girls, sorry for the O/T and incredibly long post!
I got "scouted" the other day in the street by an agency called "Vanity London" offering me commercial work as an extra in films/ on TV/ music videos etc. I am suspicious of this kind of thing, as you hear all sorts about them charging you fees etc or just generally being dodgy. Their website (just add .co.uk) checks out but isn't the most professional I've seen. Plus although they don't charge me any fees or commission for work (they are apparently paid a retainer by their clients), they require some professional photos for my online profile, and naturally I don't possess these, so they've recommended me a studio in Soho who'll "only charge for the prints I buy".
Is this a very roundabout way of scamming me into one of those studio photoshoots by appealing to my ego? Has anyone heard of this kind of thing before, and should I be wary? I am utterly clueless about it. Even if it sounds ok, should I bother with it all? It strikes me as a lot of hassle for potentially no return. Having said that, if it's a big industry, I could do with some cash as a student.
Hope that makes sense, I'd really appreciate some advice! :)
Answer:
So no advice huh?! ;)
Answer:
I am quite cynical, and always think things like these are a bit of a scam. I tend to be of the opinion that a good extras agency has people coming to it rather than the other way around.
If you knew someone who could do you some photos for fre, then maybe it would be worthwhile, but I am sure when i have read about these agencies before they have said that any photo, as long as it's clear is sufficient.
That's my tuppenceworth.
Answer:
I don't know anything about it, but it does sound like a roundabout way of scamming you.
:(
Answer:
My undertanding is that you could be approached by a genuine scout as they do often venture out looking for talent but agencies tend to be happy with a normal full length a headshot photos rather then professional photo as they will pay for these if they take you on.
Body shape help??
NO.3. ask :
Body shape help??
At Easter, I'm off shopping to update my severely-in-need wardrobe, and I need some advice re my body shape.
Bit of background: I'm 5'4", weigh 50-odd kg (don't hate me :o people ask me if I eat enough! Which I do...), have a 34A bust and proportionately large thighs/bum. I take a size 6-10 in tops, depending on the shop, and 10-12 in trousers, again depending on the shop. Now, even though I'm quite tiny down to the ribs, I seem to have a potbelly and lovehandles which I can't seem to shift *mutters*! Basically, I'm an extreme pear shape.
Anyway, I need some advice on clothing styles, or maybe recommendations of individual items of clothing that would hide my wobbly bits while enhancing the assets I haven't got! I have very pale skin and dark hair so I'm not sure how spots and stripes would look on me. I usually wear just jeans and a random shirt/top, although I quite like 3/4 length sleeves as they make my arms look longer. I tend to stand/sit up straight and hold my stomach in as it is, so tighter clothing would be ok.
Any suggestions ladies?
Answer:
I'm a similar shape although not so slim, and find that wide-leg cropped trousers are my saviour at the moment. I think they just balance out my silhoutte. Having said that, go any shorter (city shorts and the like) and I look like a chubby ten year old  Also I tend not to wear a tight top with wide trousers as it exaggerates the pear-shape. My fave tops at the mo are my river island cotton bat-wing tees as they balance me out perfectly and look funky with fitted jeans.
I've read that wearing a bold print on top with plain coloured bottoms is flattering for pear shapes but I think it depends more on the cut of the clothes than the design. Having said that I always find a white top with black trousers infinitely more forgiving than a dark top with light trousers!

Definitely! A stripey scarf and some jeans would set it off nicely :)
Answer:
Or a bright red shirt and black trousers for work?
Answer:
That's gorgeous! Am a little bit jealous....
What shoes???
NO.5. ask :
What shoes???
I have bought a red with white dots knee length shift dress from Topshop for work but I am not sure what shoes to wear with it. Is ballet pumps acceptable? Amd what colour?
Answer:
Red or white spring to mind first!
Or black, green or yellow maybe, if you worked the colour in somewhere else too.
Ballet pumps might work, but I think it depends on the style of the dress. I can imagine something like these working well as shift dresses tend to be quite a plain style?
Answer:
those red ones would work well I think. It's quite a tricky one actually :uzzle:
perhaps silver or teal/navy if you picked up blue in the accessories?
Answer:
there's a couple of pairs of light olive/sage green shoes on the TS website that might look really good with it. Baby blue and mint work well with red and white too.
Answer:
I like ther DP shoes! They are lovely. Will have to get my bum in there next week.
