Help for tonight!!

NO.1. Ask :
Help for tonight!!
Ok, so I managed to hunt down the infamous Primark navy polka dot shirt dress today which I was very excited about and decided to wear tonight :yay:
The only problem is that it is obviously a little bit chilly for bare legs so I thought I would have to wear tights (and my patent navy round toe platforms)...the thing is that I only have black tights! I thought fishnet black tights would be ok but they kinda look like 'barely there' black tights
Does anyone have any ideas?
Answer:
Skinny jeans? Or do any of your friends have some (clean) suitable tights you could have?
Or you could rip big holes in the fishnets and go for the cheap hooker look:p
x
Answer:
I haven't seen the dress in question, but I think shirt-dresses always look good over skinny jeans :) You could unbutton it a bit at the front to make it look a bit more 'going-out-y', and maybe tie some ribbon around the waist, or wear a waist belt? (Although that might not go, as I said I havent seen the dress!)
Have a good night :D
Answer:
lucky you, i desperate for one of those dresses. I agree with glitterjunkie, it would look great over skinny jeans. Especially white ones. Grey would be good too as there is a contrast in colours from the navy in the dress.
Have a good night.:)

    Rant about sizeism
on the cover of the April Red, Nigella Lawson is quoted as saying 'I have never been with a man who thinks skinniness is desireable' and continues to go on about how awful skinniness is in the related article. If someone had said the same thing about being fat, there would have been an uproar. I feel sorry for people who are naturally very thin because people DO feel they can make comments about their weight and it must hurt just as much as if someone made comments about someone being overweight.
    Answer:
The magazines seem to pick on people if they are too thin or above a size 12 ... just can't win.
Wasn't Liz Hurley quoted saying she'd die if she was Marilyn Manroe's size?
Mud slinging from both sides now:rolleyes:
    Answer:
Tis true, I'm often called a 'skinny bitch' as if it's okay.
When else would it be okay to call someone a bitch?!
If I wanted to, I doubt I'd get away with calling someone a fat cow!
With regards to what Nigella said, some men prefer slim women, some prefer larger women, whilst other men don't really care either way!
    Troy x
p.s I think slim men get it worse!
    Answer:
I know, its bang out of order isn't it. I put up with all sorts of shit when I was younger for being skinny. It p*sses me right off and it's about time people realised that, as you say, it's as bad and as hurtful as picking on somebody for being overweight. .
I can only assume that people don't treat it in the same way as it's put down to jealousy - it's still not right IMO.
    Answer:
mitchey troy, i can empathise, i get bitchy comments all the time, and also (i can't decide which is more annoying) people pitying me! 'oh you look dreadful, you're so thin, why don't you put on a bit of weight?' - IT'S NOT LIKE I HAVEN'T TRIED!!
I said this in an earlier forum - being slim runs in my family and we've had waiters in restaurants make comments such as 'why do we bother serving her? you know she's going to go to the toilet straight after she's eaten and throw it back up'...

gold platforms from barratts - what to wear with
I have these and I know some others have them too and I was wondering what I could wear them with, I really don't have a clue :o I've worn them with jeans but its a bit boring, any ideas please? :)
these are the shoes incase anybody doesn't know which I mean
    Answer:
City shorts and a nice top (or a plain vest top and a nice belt or necklace to make a feature of) for a night out?? Maybe pick up the colour of the shoes in some accessories e.g I've seen some nice earings in that sort of dark gold.
Think they'd look good with skinny jeans too, and maybe a knee length/pencil style skirt!
    Answer:
    Opaque tights and short shorts?
    Answer:
    Knee length floral shirt dress?
    Answer:
thanks for the great suggestions :D
sadly I don't quite have the legs for short shorts though CiC :(

    how nice of my MIL
I saw a jacket in Primark that SIL later got, it's cream miliary style with little brass buttons. I mentioned to MIL how lovely it was and today she called me to check my size and got if for me:yay:
So now I'm thinking of ways to wear it so it's less last year (are military jackets really  )
I'm thinking as it's white/ cream it will be lovely when this weather gets better with a vest top, bright beads denim 3/4's and those round toe patent shoes from DP in black - does that sound ok what do you ladies think
    Answer:
I'd wear it with a pretty sun dress (maybe layered over a long sleeved t shirt), and knee high brown/tan boots / bronze ballet pumps.
    Answer:
Outfit sounds lovely :great: and what a nice MIL! :)

I went for lunch yesterday at the most amazing place!!!!
It's called Emporium and it's an interiors boutique - basically everything beautiful you could ever want for your house in every style! And it's all crammed in so you have to squeeze through. Amazing.
And then (yes it gets better) theres an AMAZING restaurant! Totally lush, on three mezzanine levels off a grand staircase, with huge gilt mirrors, dark walls, indian carved wood, paintings everywhere and the FOOD :faint: I had pork loin and apple mash with veggies and then spiced apple jelly and ice cream which was to die for :faint:
So if you want to go somewhere so gorgeously beautiful, and happen to be in the Clitheroe area, I would DEFINITELY reccomend it!

My friend lives there! So I'll bear that in mind if I ever visit her :D It sounds lovely FP - a restaurant in a boutique, I love it!
And you're making me hungry describing what you had too :) :letseat: mmmm!
    Answer:
Well it's all stuff for your house, rahter than for you but it's definitely a boutique rather than a shop IYSWIM.
I want to go back and stroke all the pretty things!

I love places like that :) Maybe it's cos I'm moving into my first 'proper house' of my own in a few months (after living with parents and then uni halls), but lately I've been obsessed with lovely curtains and vases and cushions and candles and photoframes! :D
Glad its not just me who strokes pretty things in shops :o

    YOU HAVE TO GO THEN!!!
There's a room at one side which is very Cath Kidston/French Farmhouse which is very me and I wanted to buy it all!!!! :faint: And it's a variety of prices because she goes to all the new designers shows - there were some amazing chandalier style light fittings for about £50.
