Shorts for curvy girls...
I really want some shorts for going on holiday, city short style, to wear out at night. Every pair I've tried on has gaped at the waist and been too tight around the thigh/hip area. I'm a size 14-16 (slowly shrinking but still :D).
Am I destined to never wear shorts? :(
Can anyone suggest a pair that's flattering for my big arse, wide hips and monster thighs?
Answer:
im pretty much the same as you here, so id love to know as well! :)

Answer:
I'm a size 14 on the bottom and I got a pair of city short in MS limited collection, and they are sooooooo flattering its unbelivable.
This is them but they do look much much nicer in real life than in the pic.
ETA: I have some pics of me wearing them on my style diary, but the pics are a bit blurry. Shorts and there's more pics on the second page.

Thanks very much for the link, shining star. I'll nip in and try them on!
My DP didn't have any in a size larger than a 12 :( Will have to nip down on the day their stock comes in.

Righto, have been having difficulties google-ing, and its pretty much common knowledge that you lovelies are the experts on all fashion trivia..........so I was hoping that you could help me answer the question....
Where have skinny jeans come from? I know Kate + Sienna, have probably had the biggest influence in the current revival.........
but where do they hail from originally? punk in the 70s? or further back? any music/fashion movements??
I really hope that you can help me!
Thanks in advance

Answer:
I would associate them with the 80's and the new romantics trend. Could be wong though, thats just what springs to mind for me.
Answer:
Drainpipes were quite a big look in the fifties, Teddy boys wore them in the late fifties/early sixties, punks wore drainpipes in the 70's. It's always been a good look:)

And not having the benefit of stretch denim, the girls used to put zips in the ankle to get them as tight as poss, yet still be able to get in and out of them.

I used to wear them around 1978 ish (and called them drain pipes) they were hugely fasionable for a while with a line of coloured piping down the outside leg seam
What shoes do you take on holiday?
NO.4. ask :
What shoes do you take on holiday?
I'm going on holiday in 88 days :yay: and want to buy lovely things for going, but am intending on being a bit thinner (intending being the operative word  ), so don't want to buy any clothes.
I'm concentrating on shoes and accessories at the moment, but am in a bit of a shoe rut!
I always end up wearing plastic flipflops through the day, and fancier ones at night.
I'm off to Turkey in pretty much high season, so it will be 30°C to 40°C during the day, and 20°C to 30°C at night.
I don't cope all that well with heels, and intend to spend quite a lot of time inebriated!
Can anyone suggest anything to pull me from my flipflop hell?
Answer:
What about some open toe wedges for evening? I live in my Birkies during the day - I can't cope with anything between my toes!! You can get sparkly buckle ones in Schuh that would be lovely for night time also. They aren't on the website (under seasonal - footbeds) but they are schuh own brand and have a diamante buckle.
Answer:
I live in my Birkenstocks in hot weather - as soon as you wear them in they're amazingly comfortable!
Answer:
I love my birkies too but I don't see anything wrong with flip flops either! I bring both for daytime.
There are quite a few nice flat sandals about at the moment. Here are some Office ones for example :)
Answer:
peeptoe wedges in a neutral colour (for day to evening) and flip flops.
Depends how heavy you want your suitcase to be :)
Aaaaarrrggggh what to wear tonight?
NO.5. ask :
Aaaaarrrggggh what to wear tonight?
I have a works party tonight at a quite posh indian restaurant in London and have a choice of 3 outfits.
Please help me decide, I am going mad with indiscision (sp)
1. Black with glittery pink pinstripe tailored troudsers with pink camisole top and wrap cardigan
2. Suede skirt with black camisole top and black wrap cardigan
3. black short sleeve wrap dress with either pink or black camisole
All with long black pointy boots.
My problem is that the cardigan doesn't quite look right with the trouser/top combe but I don't want to be cold
Answer:
go for the wrap dress with pink cami, then,so you can let it out when you've stuffed yourself!! :munch:
Answer:
The wrap dress I reckon. You shouldn't be cold in the restaurant, and just wrap up for the journey there!
Answer:
my vote goes to the wrap dress with pink cami as well.
have fun!
